Got another one from Dan - Power commanders are in stock for the 2002 R1 - we have a great deal extended to us from Dan:

Power Commander PC3 for 249.00!!!
Power Commander PC3R for 309.00!!!

The R model is set for ignition timing...the best part, Dan will even set it up with any map you choose if you want a plug-n-play type unit before you start to play around...

this is a great deal - give Dan a call:
831-394-1330

FYI, Power commanders allow you to increase your HP substantially across the rev range and new maps are coming out daily on the DynoJet web page!!! Go get em!

I am interested....Can you tell me a little more about the Power commanders?

Are they a microchip? If not what exactly are they? Is it something I can install myself? What does it do to the engine?

What's the difference between the pc3 and the pc3r?

Does he have a map for this combo yet ???

I looked, right now they don't have one, but slip-ons are so common that they can recomend a map to start with before dynojet builds in a tweaked micron map...i mean it takes time. In the interim however, using one of the other slip-on oriented maps will work fine until you get a fine-tuned map to really iron things out. dynojet's web page post daily updates and also takes user-submitted maps

Whoa... I'm interested too... How hard are they to install? Is there a harness you just have to plug in?

Well, at least that's what they claim - I think it might be a few more!! They come with all the harnesses and plug directly into your bike, usualyl they go under the seat. just a suggestion, unless you're racing or running racing fuel, you really don't need the ignition timing function - 249 for the PC3 is a steal, and it's what I went with.

also you can adjust it with any laptop better than a 486, in other words, as old a pentium as you have. (I'm checking into if you actually CAN use a 486, one of my friends said yes, but I'm not sure) new maps are coming out daily too, so keep checking that dynojet website

I ordered one as well. Anyone who has installed theirs care to desbribe how easy/hard it is.

The instructions look fairly simple but I have a few questions. The connections themselves seem easy enough. Are the OEM connectors easy to find (meaing you won't get the wrong ones)? Also, did you need to fully take the tank off to get to them?? Finally, did you have a empty/near empty tank of gas to get at everything or am I making things more difficult than they really are.

Finally, what is your thoughts after installing it?!

Thanks in advance! :thumbup

I haven't installed mine yet. I'm waiting until I have enough miles to do the dynotune at the same time. The impression I get is that it's pretty easy to install the PCIII, and a bit harder to install the IIIr. With the r, you have to get under the gas tank, which can be a pain.

As far as r vs. regular, I 've always gotten the impression that tweaking ignition timings can improve performance on just about any bike. I could well be wrong, though.

JJJAMN, I have the same exhaust as you. Once I get my dyno tune (end of next week at the soonest...probably more like two weeks), I'll try and post the map.

HAHA SUCKERS!!! :finger I live 10 miles from the Dynojet plant here in MT. Two of my good friends are engineers there. Nothing like a pro working on your bike :rock .

(Sorry, :( I had to rub it in). :thumbup

What about the other products such as the Yosh EMS and the Factory unit. If you read Factory's web site they would lead you to believe that their unit is the best of course but they mention several down sides to the Power Commanders.

http://www.factorypro.com/products/TEKA_Suzuki_FI_Adjuster.html

Wondering if anyone has any feeback as to which is best. All the info on the site revolves around the GSXR1000 as it has been running FI before the R1 but I am sure that the same rules and comparisons amongst the products would also be relevent to our R1's. Maybe some of the recent members with GSXR's will have some feedback.

Soo....

Has anyone who has installed the PCIIIr got anything to say about it? Does it boost response, increase smoothness, create a noticeable added hit on top? Anyone bothered to get it dynotuned?

I was talking with Motomorphic today, and they offered to dyno-tune my R1 with the PCIIIr for $300 (which I won't do - since maps will be available soon, and I have my own damn laptop). Point is, I'd sure love to see what kind of performance people are getting with it. I'll probably let them do a baseline dyno run soon, now that I have a couple thousand miles on it.

So, how 'bout those subjective reviews!!!

Yosh EMS is several weeks off and major back ordered...... I will let you all know when the wonder into the shop.. McCoy Motorsports www.tobefast.com (http://www.tobefast.com) should have them whenever they trickle out Yosh's door. The PC3r's are great but I want the 3 map switch hub for myself...

Dyno-Jet Said that they dont focus on Maps for the Slipon's that they focus on the Full systems first unless they get enough requests for a Map with a certain slipon. I have sent 2 messages (e-Mail) to them asking for a 02 R-1 Stock with a Micron Slip-on US model. It would help if others could do the same they said if they get enough requests then they will expedite getting a map out.

Actually please send e-mail msg to both Micron Asking for a Map and to Dyno-Jet for a map for a US Stock 02 R1 with a Micron Slipon. I bet we get a map by friday if enough people ask.

Thanks in advance.

Send Msg to all 3 Below :

E-mail for Dyno-Jet : tech@powercommander.com

Map Request :maprequest@powercommander.com

E-Mail for Micron : info@micronexhaust.com

I called Dan to talk to him about the group purchase for Power Commanders. I was really impressed, he knew his stuff and the price is the best I've seen; so I ordered a Power Commander from him. He shipped same day as my order via UPS and it arrived 2 days later, now that's service...
It didn't take long to install, and man the power is even more evident in the midrange than stock, well worth it.
If your gonna buy one get it at a great price.
