Has anyone tried the Mag Knight tank pad for their bike? I was thinking about getting one to keep from scratching the paint, but I'm not sure how well the magnetic vs. adhesive pads will protect the tank. Any info would help. Right now I have an adhesive tank protector, but I've had to replace it a couple times already because it peels....even after applying it w/ a hairdryer. :(

I like the TankSlapper. Have been using them since I got the '00 R1. Almost completely invisible, works as claimed, very inexpensive, very versatile for a multitude of uses.

Magnetic sounds good but (maybe I'm a moron) wouldn't the magnet being up against the tank affect the physical properties of the gasoline inside? Is there any metalic element in gas? Hope I don't sound too stupid.

I have the MagKnight and I have to say that it is very nice.

Positives: Excellent protection for scratches, looks very nice, can be removed easily no sticky to worry about.

Negative: Covers up the graphics on my tank (01 R1), the pad must be placed in sun for 30 minutes (to soften up) before applying to tank, can be removed easily (farkn' theives).

Overall, I like better it than the Harris I have on now.

I had a Mag Knight pad on my old bike ('96 CBR900RR) and I just put one on my new R1 last weekend. They do a great job of protecting the tank and I really like the way they look. And no, the magnetic properties of the pad can in no way affect the fuel or performance of the engine.

I have the Carbon fiber finish and recommend them, good product,

The only thing I didn't like is the very edge of the one I got misses the contours of the tank where it is closest to the frame by few mm so I bend it around the tank. Looks better but with a couple of bubbles.

i just got my mag-knight tank pad for my 05 r1 and it works great. fits perfectly and doesnt slide around or anything like that. i got the universal style pad in case you were wondering. used to have a LP carbon style stick on pad but that shit sucked and started to peel on the lower edges.....badly.

Do not get the mag knight. I just threw mine away because it wouldn't stick for shit. I followed the directions but there was a little part on both sides that wouldn't stay down and it looked like shit. I got a pro grip adhesive and it sticks and looks great.:D
