Well I went down to take my endorsement test today. Mind you I have been riding all my life without one. I just decieded to be legit this season and get my license. To my dismay it was raining when I got down there. I figured they would cancell the tests but not the case today. I watched 2 people fail. One on a Kan 0 Tuna and one on a zx- 12. They had a tough time with the cones (both failed that portion) the Kan O tuna F'd up the right hand U turn. Mind you this is a VERY small course with a Very small box to do this turn in. I think doing this test with a sportbike would be awfully challenging. I think I will take one of those MSF courses. Anyway, so this harley biker chick gets up to do the course and she did the cones fine(her handlebars did not touch the tank!:fact ) then she had to do the 12mph stop. This is where it all went wrong. She gets to speed and hammers the rear brake.. the ass end of the HOG starts to slide out... she, trying to correct this problem grabs a handful of front brake.... Bwahahahahahaha she dumped the $20,000 Hardley on its right side!!! All she said was SHIT!! she gets up in a panic and try's to lift the beast up...she goes to lift up the bike and grabs the throttle:confused: ... and guess what happened... the HOG revs up and shoots out from the biker bettys grip!!! To the owners dismay the bike SLAMS back to the asphalt after about a 10foot ghost ride in a tight U turn!!! At this point the instructor checks to make sure she was okay and canceled the rest of the tests until the rain stops. During all this the Boyfriend/husband went across the street to get some munchies. She was on his HOG. I can only imagine what went through his mind when he got back and saw his $20.000 fatboy laying there looking like a huge pile of chrome rubble!!! I just waved at him as I rode by and went home.:finger

There are three courses available in my state. No experience, some, and ive been riding for years without my license! Class time varies on how much experience you have. A woman decided to say she rides so she could just take the written test and go to the road course without having to take the classes. The road course was in the parking lot of a community college. Supplied bikes were Honda Nighthawks. I dont think this lady ever sat on a bike, nevermind ride one. She managed to get the bike moving with a buck...buck... and off into the woods. The instructor flipped out on her for putting his life in danger.

I really don't know why people say they have problems with the cones on the sportbike. I took my test on F3 (maybe thats why I passed) and I had no problems at all. What I did thought is I read the book that they give you in DMV office. :lol laugh all you want but that thing helped me a lot, especially because I had 1 week experience riding. I saw a lot of harleys fail the cones test.

I passed the test twice, once in Michigan and once in Washington, and I used the following techniques both times. You probably know it's not easy to do the test on a sport bike. If you put your foot down you fail, and most people put their foot down during the cone weave and the U-turn. The trick to the cones is to not complete the last set of cones. A sport bike can easily make the first two turns, but most people fail on the last turn, just don't do the last turn at all, don't even try. Sure you loose points, but you won't fail because all the rest of the tests are easy on a sport bike. The trick to the U-turn is that most people do not realize that you can take the U-turn wide before you enter into the boxed area. do not enter the box straight on, instead come in at it from the side.

U-turns on the R1 are not my favorite thing to do. The 748 can U-turn in the back of a friggin' pickup truck. Don't know why those Ducs are so much easier to U-turn. Didn't have any problems with the cones myself... did all of them. Of course back then, I did the test on a 600 Ninja... :crash

It's about skill not cheating .You can cone weave on sportbikes by lightly dragging rear brake under power and pushing bike down while remaining fairly straight up. U-turns drag the rear brake again. It's easy!

For cryin out loud that is hilarious!! I'd like to take the test for the endorsement someday, but then, why bother? DMV accidentally gave me an endorsement when I was 18, I just had a permit, lost my license and when I got a new one they put endorsed for MC on it. Oh well, I guess I'm qualified to ride. :lol

the test is a joke...I did mine on a 94 kawi zx6e...this bike is a tank compared to the R1 and I had no problems at all.....all you have to do is practice a little and get comfortable with the bike at low speeds doing tight turns....its a matter of using the throttle to stablize the chassis and using the rear brake to maintain proper speed and posture...

If you take the test on a 250, you are only qualified to ride 500cc and below (END2). 501cc and up is and END3. :fact

Not if you're good at burnouts...I've seen some wicked shit with the rear spinning. Except for because the bike is "wider" because your rear is steering, it probably wouldn't work.
