R! kicked ass at the fisrt round of Formula Extrem race

I was at Fontana this weekend watching the racing. The R1 kickes some ass in the AMA Formula Extreme race. 1st place and it's the fisrt time out on the track. WOW:eek:

haha! Great news! Woul love to see that race on TV. Moved this to the racing section though.

They showed Formula Extreme on Speedvision last year, it's a shame they dropped it this year...at least we still get Supersport and Superbike.

thats awsome news! nothing is better than race results to state which bike is better. i wonder why no one from gixxer.com has posted on this thread about how the gsxr1000 is a better bike...i.e. Pedro

same thing happened here in Australia in the Formula Extreme round held at Eastern Creeka couple of weeks ago. The R1's totally dominated every race. I don't think a GSXR even got on the podium in any of the races.

I love that avatar you have Swedie, the drawing of the R1 doing the standup wheelie. That would look awesome on a t-shirt beside some smart comment about R1's kicking arse. Any chance you can email a larger copy? :)

Buckmaster was REAL comfortable on that track which you could see. You guys need to remember that what he's on is a handbuilt R7/ R1 hybred. It's not much like anything you are riding, other than the shoehorned highly hotrodded R-1 motor that it started out with. The #'s and talent on Gixxers say that a Suzi rider is far more likely to win the championship overall. IF the R-1's were such great platforms to race with in formula Xtreme you would see more teams opting for them. I LOVE the R-1 ( obviously since I ride one ;) ), but the Gixxer is a better race platform:fact

Anyone got a link to pictures of this hybrid ??? - Or any others for that matter...How difficult is it to drop an R1 engine into an R7 frame/swingarm.....??? :yesnod

for the undying love of everyone continually comparing the truly insignificant differences between two mammoth machines that giddy up to almost 200 mph. does it really fricken matter. the r1 is an r1, and everyone knows it is an r1. the gixxer is a gixxer, and that is the problem in and of itself. who the hell can tell if a gixxer is a 6, 750, or liter. thats why i ride an r1, because i want everyone to know, without a doubt, that i ride a mutha****in r1, not some silly gixxer that could be a 6, 750, or liter. don't compare the uncomparable, we are not the professionals that we watch on tv, the differences that may exist underneath the surface on these bikes is truly insignificant to what we use them for. they get paid to ride, we have to pay to ride. so i decide to pay for something that i think kicks ass, a mutha****in r1, not one of three unappealing identical siblings. Yup, Buckmaster has definitely stepped up his riding, and I'll agree that the package of him and the R-1/7 is looking real tuff right now, but time will tell. I think it would still be cooler yet if it was ALL R-1. Graves has put together a bike/rider combo that is dominant at the moment. Let's see if the hi speeds and high hp demands of Road Atlanta produce a different outcome;) you might try www.gravesmotorsports.com for the bike. It IS BY FAR THE BEST LOOKING BIKE IN FXTREME:fact
