Two problems:

Can't see the fluid level, and
You'd lose the strange green glow of the reservoir when the neutral light is on, discussed at length in another thread. It's one of those things that everybody notices about their '02, but nobody wanted to admit they thought it was really cool until somebody else posted about it.
