How is Gobert doing so far in this years AMA, is he riding an R1 instead of the R7 this season? Be good to see him upset the applecart when the WSB circus arrives at Laguna Seca, although the current rules would only let him ride the 7. Got to see the V-Twins get their arses kicked at least once this year. WSB is turning in to a V-twin class, very very boring....:bash

Gobert is in much better form than you saw when he rode for the Virgin Yam squad over there. Many over here ( me for one;) ) think that Gobert TALENT wise is the best rider in the series, with Hayden close behind. His main troubles are two fold : 1) overcoming the reputation of his stupid antics from a few seasons back with the drug thing, attitude thing, while riding the Duc for Vance and Hines , and # 2 ) the fact that the R-7, regardless of how much we all like it  , is NOT the platform that the SP2's or even the Gixxers are. Bostrom has the same problem on the dated ZX-7, they both give up a LOT to the other machinery. That being said, Gobert will run up front and possibly win at tracks like Sears Point ( our next round ), Pikes Peak, Laguna, and Mid-ohio that are more technical, RIDER oriented tracks, where sheer top speed and horsepower become less an issue than bike set up, tire selection, and a riders ability to string sections of the track together sucessfully;) He will be lucky to podium at R Atlanta, R America, VIR, anyplace that puts a premium on big speed. The good thing I saw about the second race for Gobert where he had to settle for 8th due to a bad front tire was his maturity in settling for those valuable points, and NOT throwing it down the road trying to ride around a major problem. I like Hayden a lot too ( GREAT kid ), and wouldn't mind seeing him win the championship, but I always pull for Gobert too.:) Right now he's solidly in 2nd place;)
