GXXXER1000 05-16-2003, 11:16 AM R1schmelz,
dude you are smoking some good shit. if your mph were really that high, you would be running in the high 8's. now with the mods you have done that would be pretty much impossible.

r1schmelz 05-18-2003, 10:44 AM Hey gxxxer1000, where are you numbers. Have you ever been to the track? Have you ever been on a bike?:2bitchsla
60" PSB R1 05-18-2003, 12:39 PM 8.95 @ 152 1.49 60 ft (on the rev limiter before the finish.) Lowered streched to 60" Stock motor, custom sidewinder and a dry nitrous kit.
It normally runs around 122 mph in the 1/8 th. This weekend it went 129.9 in the 1/8 th. We did'nt get to finish the run, something happened in the motor so came off the gas at the thousand foot, and went 9.24 @ 150 mph.
If the pass would have been clean it should have been a 8.7?
FastazzR1 05-18-2003, 02:05 PM Do you have any pics. of the bike.

Sorry
60" PSB R1 05-19-2003, 06:40 PM Hey Bill, did you get the picture of the airshifter mounts that I sent you?Shane McCoy turned me on to this forum. Glad he did!
What was up with suprenant, I've barely scratched the surface with this bike. This thing will fly! If it doesn't go fast enough on NOS, then will build a purpose built turbo bike. Horsepower to weight ratio, says it would fly then!
bhartley 05-19-2003, 07:15 PM Yes I got the pictures and I am sending the shifter piece out to him tommorow. I can't weight to get the shifter on it . Everyone keeps telling me it will help alot on the turbo bike . Super is always like that . His bike went 8.70's with Shine riding it . I guess that makes it king crap . I will be running that soon . With a stock motor . Oh well He just likes putting other brands down .
I think he has a hardon for Jason for some reason. He does have nice stuff and it runs great but our stuff looks and runs good also.
Thanks for the advice on the shifter.
They will see soon enough what an R1 will do..
Bill
60" PSB R1 05-20-2003, 05:48 AM Bill, we hurt our motor, not sure what it is yet. Something minor. It happened during a shake down run. The bike ran 130 mph in the 8 th. Jason got out of it just after that. He still went 9.23 at 150 mph. That was easily an 8.7, shame it broke, but it will be fixed!
forza 05-22-2003, 11:13 PM Hey 60" PSB R1, what year is your bike and where did you find a sidewinder exhuast? I've been going crazy trying to find one for my 00' R1. Let me know.
You are turning some mighty impressive times. You must be either:
(a) semi-pro or pro rider
(b) feather weight
(c) all of the above
What sprocket setup are you running and in case you don't allready have one- get a bottle heater! Worth every penny.
60" PSB R1 05-23-2003, 05:11 AM I had the sidewinder custonm made by: Mike Schultz @ Schultz Advanced Fabrication (301-694-0602) It's a direct take off of an Akropovic, he copied tube lengths, 4 into 1 collecter and all the steps.
Jason Miller is riding the bike right now, he's 185 in street clothes and around 200 in leathers. He keeps telling me that it will really fly with a light rider. We know that it will 8.7's with Jason on it, with it's current set-up. But since we hurt the stock motor I plan on putting some googd parts in it and maybe a few for pony's too.
60" PSB R1 05-23-2003, 05:16 AM Don't mind the type O's my fingers are going faster than my head at this point! We're running 1 down in the front and a 44 on the rear. With a 520 titanium sidewinder chain.

60" PSB R1 05-26-2003, 07:11 PM Sounds good Bill if you get to MIR or The Rock come Introduce yourself!!!

forza 06-02-2003, 12:16 PM Hey BHartley, I'm gonna open up my wallet and get that turbo setup fairly soon. I know you are a pro or semi pro featherweight guy. How much more have you done to the bike since the initial installation? Any blow off valve or boost control? Is the turbo kit good enough out of the box, or will I be dumping more $$$ into it after a few months? If I'm running 9.80's with NOS, what can I expect with the turbo?
I've been on the PSB forum also and saw that rake job Frank did. Was it for clearance for the intercooler because the bike is lowered, for better performance or both?
Let's see a vid of you making a pass! I need more inspiration in order to empty out my wallet!!!!
bhartley 06-02-2003, 01:10 PM You will not need to do anything to it after you get it done .
I change the oil after I get back from the track everytime.
That's it . I have not even changed the sparkplugs.
You will be eating clutch plates .
I don't have a boost controler.
I might add one in the future when I build my new motor .
I want to get serious with this thing next year .
I am tired of people telling me it won't run this or that .
So far it has done everything that I wanted it to do .
It just keeps going quicker and faster .
I am only running 4 bar of boost . that is not that much boost.
I was running 9.70's with the stock motor at 138 to 143 mph.
I put the turbo on and now mid to high 8's at 160 to 168 mph .
I had it raked to clear the front wheel .
When you lower it very much the tire hit's the intercooler.
Pretty hard .
There is hardly any thing to maintain .
Put the turbo on put 125 main jets in it .
Leave it alone .
Put fuel in go have fun .
bhartley 06-02-2003, 01:14 PM I should have some video's of me on it soon .
I got a camcorder for x mas and I am ready to try it out .
The track's I have been to this year were slick .
It should be putting down some even lower numbers soon .
Azsportbiker 06-02-2003, 07:33 PM 99 R1, Full Yosh system,13:1 J/E pistons,lowered and strapped. 240 pound rider, 60- 1.709 330 4.875 1/8 6.69 1/8 speed 112.7 E/T 10.16 @ 139.85 1600 ft elevation, 80 degrees

Frank will do a great job on your arm .
His fabricator is great .
It is running better then ever .
I don't want to post the new number's yet .
I will let everyone know what it has been running soon .
To many eye's watching the boards for now .
60" PSB R1 06-04-2003, 07:29 PM Hey Bill, sounds like your getting that thing right , can't wait to see it run!
forza 06-04-2003, 08:36 PM hey PSB, I am proud of you!!! That rules and also kicks ass!!! I saw the pic of your bike. Is there any travel left in your front end? Explain (if you can) why having 0 or near 0 travel in the front is a good or bad thing for the strip. what RPM are you leaving at?
forza 06-04-2003, 08:43 PM Hey Bill and PSB, how much tire pressure are you guys running ft and rear? PSB, what sprocket setup are you running? I just bought that M/T street tire (the first series) and found out it weighs 2 POUNDS more than the second series M/T! Congrats to both of you for giving the R1 some props in the D.B. world. Bill, lets see that 8.40 to shut everyone up. Keep up the good work!:hellobye

Yes there is about a 1/4 inch only because the strap can't compress the spring anymore. It is a good thing for the strip because it does not allow the front end to transfer the weight to the rear. So it is less likely to wheelie. Around 7000

Thanks for the props, we're no where near finished yet.

We'll be running a 60-80 progressive controlled shot all season, we just finished the first one and it's hitting like a freight train now.......
Next season it's a built NOS motor or a built turbo engine.. Probably the later.... although there is talk of doing a couple built engines with NOS very soon........... :boobies
bhartley 06-05-2003, 07:50 AM It is great to finally get some other people drag racing the R1
This will only make thing's better for all of us .
I think this winter I will be getting hardcore with the bike .
For now we will see what she will run with the stock motor .
I think it will go 60's maybe even 50's .
We will see . I am working on the chasis setup now .
Stay Tuned and good luck with all your projects.
If any one needs any help just ask..
Bill

Red Beast 07-05-2003, 09:29 AM I must be doing something wrong. I dont remember my 60 exactly, but it was somewhere around a 1.76. I ran a 10.806 at 128. I have a completely stock 2002. I live in Phoenix, AZ...maybe that has something to do with it? I tried launching at 6000. What do yall launch at?
