Hey Melchy I'm going to Brands on the 12th for the evening session. I'll be there from mid afternoon though to have a look see, so I'll try and find you. Let me know what colour '1' and leathers to look for. There should be 8 or so in my posse, some from work and some from the breakfast club. It's my first track day for years so I'll be wobbling round like some sad old codger. One of the guys from work is a semi pro rider who was down to do the Bol d'or before Gus Scott nabbed his ride, so he'll be making us look really crap pissing round the outside of us all on his little CBR400. See you there.

Chuckh, Oulton is 14th May - I havn't been there before. Tyre warmers eh ? Slick ? Professional stuff. I still use my 207rr's Biffa, Blue R1, Underseat Pipes, Dymags, Black Leathers (BKS). Dr.R1, we have some great tracks in the UK.... Typical price from UK £70 for an evening session right up to the most expensive UK£250 for all day at Brands GP...

MELCH ive only started using warmers this year the difference is amazing grip from the off bowling round the outside off everyone round somwhere like gerards (mallory park) is just fantastic. it also cuts out tyre wear (cold tear) which you get on pirreli supercorsas. dunlop rrs you suprise me mate you realy do. as dr r1 rightly points out track days over here aint cheap and you load the dice against yourself by using half way house rubber. ok if it rains you win we lose. if you have to ride a long way to the track fair play but out on a dry track mmmmmmmm :beer :beer CHEERS CHUCKH

I was at Cadwell Park yesterday on my R1. - The difference in power is so noticeable on those straights. That said - I'm not particularly fast on the Track, but the R1 settles me (and masks my weaknesses) much more than my Hornet ever did. CB

Chuck, the dice against yourself by using half way house rubber. ok if it rains you win we lose. if you have to ride a long way to the track fair play but out on a dry track The 207rr's do fine. Considering 98% of my time is spent on the roads - all year round. Just had the 60k service ! Nearly due the 64k... :rock

Blackvisor. I've enjoyed all the tracks I've been on.. Cambridge eh ?? Your pretty good for Snetterton, Silverstone, Donnington, maybe Cadwell - a bit further or South - Brands. All great tracks... Try http://www.uktrackdays.co.uk/ for a pretty good list.

I think Mallory Park is a good Novice track - as it's not too complex, and the the first corner off the start/finish straight is so wide and long you can try loads of things with your bike & confidence. Cadwell isn't too bad (but run off at some corners is limited). Knockhil is awful - My first ever time on the track - just too many corners in a short distance for my experience. CB

BlackVisor, As a starter, pick the closest to home. Then look at the uktrackdays website - get a met office weather forcast or go to http://www.onlineweather.com/v4/uk/motorsport/index.html and check out the weather per track ! Phone the trackday companies you have selected and see which make you feel at home on your first track day. Then persuade ideally some mates to come to. Relax and have fun ! :yesnod

Hi all! Anyone doing Lydden in June? Hoping to book it this week, used to watch my mate race there a couple of years back and always fancied a go round myself. So was suprised that they're doing them this year after they said the circuit was sold to McLaren last year in MCN. My racing mate is doing it on his blade and his girlfriend on her CBR6. Blackvisor: I reckon Mallory Park would be great for a 1st trackday, easy to learn and plenty to have you grinning all day! Melch!: Do you have a job???? How do you get all these trackdays in ya lucky b*******!

'fraid so, but you have to get your priorities right ..... :rock :yesnod. Saying that just schleped to B'Ham and back today.. time for a beer !

Melch How did you get on at Brands? I looked out for you when I turned up for the evening session, but maybe you'd gone by then, as it was pissing down big time. The track dried through our 2 hours in the evening and the speeds went up accordingly. As it was my first trackday for years it worked out just fine. The R1 was brilliant for a first time at the Indy circuit. I just left it third gear for the whole lap so that I could concentrate on learning the way round. The abilities of the engine still meant that I could out grunt 600's out of the slow corners and piss past anyone else on the straights though. I now have " THE BUG "!!!!

Biffa, Brands AM was superb. I was right on it, really enjoyed myself. Then Midday whoosh down comes the rain. Enjoyed watching the lads on full wets duke it out though. I looked around for R1's - left about 5 ish. Probably passed on the M25 ! Did Goodwood in the Wet Sat... with Cars also on the track - very interesting !! Loads more planned for this year, hopefully it dry's out a bit. Pembry in Wales next... :D

Well, I did Lydden last Saturday and despite Michael Fish doing a raindance on Friday the weather was great...superb little circuit with a great variety of corners! Bit too many red flags in the 'intermediate' group. But the organisation was good: 100% Bikes if anyone's interested. Hoping to do Snetterton or Donington with them around the end of August.
