:beer I'm trying to reset the shift light on my '02 R1. I tried following the instructions in the owners manuel, but apparently I'm not literate enough to understand it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you hold the select button in and then turn the ignition on while still holding the button in. Then use select and reset to adjust your shift point how the shift light blinks and everything.

can you be just a little more detailed , i have tryed everything just wont work.

hold down the "Select" button on your gauge with the bike off, then while holding down on that button turn the ignition position to "On", you dont have to start the bike. So hold 'Select' > turn key to 'On' > keeping holding 'Select', wait for 10 seconds, as then you should get the options. 'Reset' changes the option, for example the default brightness of the screen is '000', everytime you press 'Reset' it will add a '0' to the brightness until it reaches a maximum of '000000'. Then hit 'Select' to move to the next function.
Here are the functions
1.Screen brightness
2.Shift light LED flash type (strobe,solid, 3 sec interval)
3.RPM select (between 7000rpm and 12,750RPM)
4. Secondary RPM select
5.Shift light LED brightness('Reset' changes it from '000' to '000000', '000000' being the brightest')
