I am looking for pictures of installed lowering links, and such for the rear. I am going to make something of this sort to drop the rear. What have you guys done so far? bought something or made something???? What are you using? Also, why buy straps for the front instead of slipping the forks up? Is it just cause it's hella easier? Later for now guys, thanks for any help. Jeffrey

Sorry don't have picture but your going to want to buy the lowering link. To much of a pain to make. Try Schnitz Racing. They also have the straps. The reason you need one is because you wn't be able to get the bike low enough by sliding the tubes up. The best set-up for the drag strip is tubes up and a strap, with a 3" drop in the back

All the links and straps you'll ever need are at www.tobefast.com .... I know Bob at Speedlink personally and trust me there is alot of aftermarket links that break and I have never heard of a Speedlink breaking..... www.tobefast.com/r102.htm .. go there and the link and straps are near the top of the page... The same setup I run on my bike... http://www.tobefast.com/r102/link.jpg http://www.tobefast.com/r102/strapdown.jpg The straps not only lower the front end quickly but they prevent the front end from re-bounding up to a certain point and greatly reducing the R1 wheelie syndrome...

Thanks guys, your info is more usful than you may know. I am suprised however that tech does not have a problem with the straps. Do you let your preload out when you put the straps on, or just squeeze and go? Jeffrey

Hey spider go to Appearance Mod's, Lowered R1 Pic That lowering link is the one I was telling you about. With that link you can go from stock height to 3' lowered in about a minute and back to stock in the same amount of time. A buddy of mine is the manufacturer if you'd like to carry them.

Whats up guys? I have my R1 lowered in the rear with a strut that I bought from Spencer cycles. I basically slams the bike to the over brace on the swingarm. It is fully adjustable so the height is up to you. I have the front lowered 1.5 in the front and slammed the rest of the way with the straps. Not a great setup for the street, but perfect for me for the track. 5'11 190lbs

Jason T Speed link, lowered all the way, the center to center is 7and 9/16 inches... measured with a ruler. That gets you right at 3 inches ground clearance. I measured the drop at the rear foot pegs and it fell 2 inches, I bet at the tail it might have been 3 but not sure. I lowered the front 3 inches exactly and the bike sits perfectly level. Does that help? lookatdatfool Does this strut replace your rear shock? Or is it a link that fits in the shock linkage?

Here is a pic of mine: Lowering Link made by White Lightning. It is adjustable in 2 settings- stock and 3" drop. Made of polished Billet Aluminum with brass bushings already installed. Easy install and looks better than any link I have ever seen.

Originally posted by madcow bigg-e...your bike looks like one of mine Heheh. Funny thing is, I also have pics with a tank bra on. Right after I put it on I took some pics. When I saw the pics, i immediately took off the bra. Not my cup of tea. Now that I remember that I still have the bra, I will sell it in the "For Sale" section. To answer the question about the White Lightning Link, I also got it from Schnitz. Took about 2-3 weeks, though. I didn't know what I was doing when installing (no instructions included) and it still only took me 20 min to install. Cool thing about it is it is adjustable from stock to 3" lower. Now that I know what I am doing it only takes me 5 min to switch.
