If anyone happens to see....

Hey all, If anyone happens to see or hear of anyone selling their complete black w/red flames plastics and tank, please let me know. I got my insurance check to replace the plastics on my red/white/black bike, but was seriously thinking of changing over to the black w/red flames since I'm supposed to replace just about every plastic piece anyway. Even though there were VERY minor scratches (most can be buffed out actually) in my bike, the insurance still claimed it (got to love that part about them!). So, it's either get the complete (NON rashed) set off of someone or I'll have to order it through Yamaha and wait 2-3 months. Not a big deal because I can still ride mine with my current plastics without any hassles, but still. Plus, I would hate to order the parts from Yamaha and then have someone post their set up and I wouldn't have the money any longer to buy them. Anyway, sorry about the huge post...just thought I'd ask for anyone's help around here (or anywhere) about those plastics. Cya, Mat

How much did they give you for the fairings? You could get some sharkskins and have them custom painted if they gave you enough.

I think you would save money if you buy a set of Sharkskins and have them painted. This way you would have a custom looking bike. I want to do that at some point myself.

hmmm...I'm not sure about the Sharkskins thing. Only reason I say that is this is the very first time I have bought anything brand new and kind of wanted to keep it all with Yamaha factory parts. Ya, I know that's stupid and all and I should do what I want, but I guess i'm just weird that way. Maybe if this was the second bike I ever bought new or something. I just want to try and keep it looking new. I don't know. However, I have approx $1500 for the new fairings. I figured if I had to throw in a couple of bucks, I'd try and do that. I did find on eBay however, a guy in OC that has the complete set of blue stuff. However, seems like everyone has that (no offense to anyone!), so that's why I wanted something different I guess. Maybe I'm just nuts and should just order my red/white/black stuff and be done with it. I walked out of Home Depot today and saw her sitting in the sun and just smiled when I saw the colors and thought...is it really worth it to change it over? Then again, I always liked the black w/red flames and team blue/white much better than the red/white/black...I don't know why either...it's wierd. LOL But thanks for the help guys. I might check into that.

I agree keep the factory plastic for the first season. you got and it looks good. then when your used to it try something new. but I agree also with cheeper and faster if it way too long to get the plastic. if the wait time is not too bad then I would order your red white and black. sorry is that is no help at all, lol just my $.02

If you want to buy anything factory, contact Pat Weekley at Rive Yamaha and tell him that you are a forum member. He will give you the lowest price you can find on any factory part. Here is the phone number: 1-877- RIVA YAM.

Cool Rezar!!!! Thanks man... However, where are they located? I'm hoping it somewhere fairly close so I could drive to pickup or order the parts. This way it's less for shipping. I'm sure shipping for all of the plastics & tank would be a mint!!!! I was thinking of going down to my local dealer (Mission Yamaha) and getting the prices and wait times for all of the 03 Black w/red flame parts. This way I have something to compare it to. However, if I just want to replace my red/white/black parts, it should only take about 1 week. No backorder on those to my understanding. Only back order is on the black w/red flames and it's up to 2 months!!!! I guess because everyone is doing what I'm thinking of. Hehehe... Or, I could just replace the red/white/black and go to the dealer and trade it in on a new 03 that is already black w/flames....nahhhhh..hehehehe... I appreciate everyone helping me out...thanks tons!

They are not local, but call them. Even with shipping it will be less then what you pay at your local dealer. Beside, you don't have to pay taxes on orders outside cali and the taxes alone will be more than shipping.

Hot damn... Thanks for the info guys. You are right though..forgot about the no tax thing. hehehehe... Hell, I'll give him a call or something this week. Maybe even tomorrow. Does he have an email address that I could email my list of parts to him or only by phone? I just figured with all the parts that I need a quote for, I would just email him the list and such. Cya later, Mat PS This is why I love forums like this. Where everyone helps everyone else out. That is soooo cool.

Pat Weekley [PatW@rivayamaha.com] He's a bit slow at replying emails.. Normally takes 2-3 buisness days to reply.. Calling would be the best.. But if yer not in a hurry.. email would work

Thanks tidbit. Actually it's no hurry. I believe most of the black w/red flame plastics are on a 2 month back order. Hehehe...so I don't think 2-3 business days will hurt me much. :D However, thanks for the info. I'll email him tonight. If this works out to my price range, then I'm just going to order the black plastics/tank. I can wait 2 months. My bike doesn't look that bad. Hehehehe. :)
