Removing Wires from back blinkers

I ordered LP's shortstalks and was wondering how you remove the wires from the stock blinkers on the back. I know how to remove them from the mud flap, but do I have to cut the wires or does the blinker have a harness that just snaps off? Thanks in advance. Johnny V.:D

I'm no expert, so feel free to correct me, but I think you have to just cut the wires. There is a wiring harness, but it is connected directly to the light socket; so, even if you remove the whole socket it will do you no good, because your new shortstalks aren't compatible with the OEM light socket. Measure twice, cut once. ;) Be safe...

How do you get to the tail section connectors. I can't see the wirring because of the metal that is covering it. Is there and easy way to get to it?

In your "trunk" you will find 4 screw which hold your lic.plate/turn signal plastic POS on. Remove them. Then remove the tail section. (4 to 6 clips) Slid it towards the front of the bike and it will drop down. On the left side you will see 4 wires. 1 POS 1 NEG which are for your lic. plate light and two connects, one for each turn signal. Remove these and that should do it.. (R1 '03)

while yer at it... I'd tear off all your plastics... and put it on a couple times.... "bottom to top" and vice versa... it's good practice... and it'll teach you alot about the wiring within your bike

Another dumb question. It seemed that they worked either way I wired them. I didn't know which was positive and which was negative, so I just wired them. Is this a bad thing?!?!?!?:(

I am doing the same thing. Did you have to cut the connectors off the factory signals and splice them on to the new signals? I was hoping not to cut anything.

Yup just cut enough to leave on the factory lights in case I want to put factory back on. Very simple, now I just need to put on the lite 'n boltz and that'll do. :rock :rock jv

FYI, Lockhrt Philips makes adapter harness for every sportbike for $4, just buy a pair and plug them in. 2002-2003 the same, black is ground and blue is running light, th other two are the single filament blinkers respectively.
