: Lockhart Phillips Products Suck!!
R1Fanatic 05-29-2003, 11:02 PM I am putting together a list of LP products that have failed and have defects. This list is being put together from what I have experienced personally, and from what I hear from other forum members. Please feel free to add your own personal experiences:
1) Brake Levers
2) Footpegs
3) Windscreens
4) (most current) Frame sliders
:no
I think I am going to stay away from LP products from now on...

Levers=Just been recall recently
copterdoctor64 06-07-2003, 08:46 PM LP sliders do not fare nearly as well as IRP ones..
R1Fanatic 06-07-2003, 08:46 PM Run a search for LP frame sliders. Many of the members will tell you if they would buy them again or not!
***EDIT***
You beat me to it Copter :D
LowlifePlayer 06-07-2003, 08:49 PM now we are getting to the meat part, any more examples???
corwyn 06-07-2003, 09:13 PM I have no problems with my pegs. I installed them too tightly the first time (without grease), so there was some binding, but that was my fault.
I have the Superpole V-360 adjustable pegs.
skygod13 06-10-2003, 12:12 PM Tank Bra sucks to. Very cheap lookin and didnt seem to made very well. Sent it back as soon as i opened the box:(
RUFFSTUFF 06-11-2003, 11:20 AM I agree.
ncjerseykid 07-02-2003, 06:23 PM Wow I'm glad someone started this tread! I just ordered a lockhart phillips front end lift stand and when I tried to use it on my 00' R1, it pushed up against the bottom of my nose cowling. I was scared it was going to crack and scratch it so I removed it immedietely. The only pin that pit the R1 was the 13mm, but it was to small and left so much freeplay that it made me nervous to whether or not it would hold the front end up, without falling. I got no help from lockhart and I dont believe they make a pin that fits the R1 properly. So today I returned the stand. Guess I save for a Pit Bull!! My rear stand I've had for a few years and it's held up pretty good, though.

Andie who 07-04-2003, 07:48 AM All the stuff they sell is for the low rent disrict. I have a friend who sold his parts to them and atfer LP got them copyied in China at a prison labor camp for a nickel they stoped buy his stuff.
LP SUCKS!
terrasmak 07-08-2003, 11:11 AM you get what you pay for , 4 bucks for a lever , thats cheap , if you dont crash or drop your bike it wont fail . pegs just show pretty , alot of there stuff is for the biker boy poser crowd , but the other stuff is good , instead of buying the show pretty junk pegs thru them order a set of vortex , attack or harris rearsets . Come on carbon enlay frame sliders , just screems posers all over , how many race bikes have you seen them on , NONE , racers use intuitive or proimpact , guess what LP sells them too , Just the posers go for the pretty ones . Wake up people . Yes there frontstand works fine the r1 , yes the pin is a little loose , who cares , they give you 4 pins with it and its a universal stand , it hits slightly underneith the nose of the bike no biggy , how much more would that stand cost if they gave you every pin available for every bike prabably a bit more . Its cheap , good quality and it works , unless your part of the anal biker crowd

okay I got some LP inlay CF frame sliders for sale now!!
theron19d 07-08-2003, 11:47 AM I have both the front and rear stands and use them on my R1. You just have to pay attention to what you are doing and you shouldn't have a problem with the front. It just has to be lined up properly
Ronmc1 07-08-2003, 12:32 PM LP Products suck the windscreens don't fit the levers look like they were made of toy quality material. I will never buy their CHEAP CRAP. :no
LP SUCKS

It was that small display which tells you battery state, water temp, oil temp,hour,etc,etc...
I wanted the damn thing.
They sent me the same sensor 3 times......I finally gave up.

Damn, I feel your pain, but I agree with asianmafia, I would busted some heads or somethin!:machinegu
03R1stuNNa 07-10-2003, 12:39 PM I think their race stands are well made and do the job for a cheap price but everything else they sell is CRAP.....I do however have the carbon inlay swingarm slider since they do look good and do not break off like the main frame sliders do..
GodSpeed 07-15-2003, 08:07 PM Who makes a good set of Frame Slideers "Carbon": for 03 r1

Which do you want?
Good frame sliders?
Or "Carbon"?
Can't have both.
(Go with Intuitive sliders - reliable and reasonable. You don't need anything else.)
tehuti-4 07-18-2003, 11:37 AM I got a set of CUSTOM LED side blinkers - the ones that have the clear white running lights that blink amber. The instructions say to use LP Flushmount III lens.
Anyone had any experience with this LP product? Can you recommend another lens that I could use with the CUSTOM LED's?

I'm guessing this was BS, then? Anyone? ... BS?...
Smoke 07-18-2003, 12:12 PM I don't have 'em and it doesn't look like a recall is up on their website yet, but who knows.

evilR1 07-18-2003, 11:55 PM i ahve had nothing but bad results too
i have vowed never to order shyat from them
there are too many good sponsors with good prices and in-stock items to chose from
Judge 07-28-2003, 01:07 PM LP rear stand...mine is ahite all I know about it..that and it is JUNK.....its flexes....my Buell fell off it while I was doing a rear tire....18K into a bike and ya see it falling.....(yes I put me between it and the garage floor)...
LP aluminum sprocket nuts with stainless insert: the box I bought has 2 good ones in it, the rest are helicoiled improperly (the end of the helicoil makes contact before the flat of the nut...not allowing nut to tighten properly)...went to local sprotbike supply place that sold them to me...we checked inventory...could not find a set of 6 gold ones.....and the rest of inventory was just about as effed up......
I have those carbon sliders.....guess it is time to replace them before I need them...damn....they were expensive as fock./

here is a problem that i have had with the LP brake lever on my 2001, but i have never heard of a recall. and i am not experiencing problems with my "carbon look" levers on the 2002.

ricardo 07-28-2003, 01:46 PM 1) Just a while ago I installed a Lp carbon fiber loop lp lever for my 2001 r1. It all seemed nice and dandy, I took it out for a ride around my neighboorhood and the front brakes locked in the middle of the street. I was stuck in the oncoming traffic lane, and could not budge the bike without help from 4 other people. We had to lift the front of the bike, and 2 others had to push the bike into the side. This could have been fatal. And I hope LP gets their asses sued big time if someone gets hurt.
2) I bought a Lp double bubble windscreen. After TRYING To install that piece of crap, there was a 1-1.5 inch difference between the fairing and the windscreen, as if there was a ram air intake in there. The worse.. I took it back to the stealer and ordered a zero gravity double bubble.
LP SUCKS
ricardo 07-28-2003, 01:47 PM 3) I have a lp rear stand. I dont use any more because it fell aprt. First the wheels fell off, then it just disentrigrated like crap.. Now I use a pit bull stand
T-MannIBP 07-31-2003, 10:22 AM Damn right-LP is KMART for bike parts--I've seen better quility parts at pep boys lol.
Meatball 08-25-2003, 09:18 AM So I ordered frame sliders from LP, I thought I was getting Intuitive sliders(thought they were supose to be good). Of coarse they didn't have them in stock, so I wait for 2 months. I finally get them and they are ProImpact, not Intuitive. I had never heard of them, but I figured I would give them a try. Left side- fits ok, right side: I get less than one turn and it tightens up. There is no way that slider is going to hold if the bike goes down. Screw is definatly too short.
Anyone else have ProImpact sliders and have this problem?
