I recently put an Akra Titanium slip on on my bike.
Next thing I'm thinking of is a Power Commander, however I'd like to ask:
1. Is it really worth fitting one (particularly thinking about low down throttle response)
2. If it is - Which is the better one to fit, the II or the IIIR?
Thanks.

If you're going to get one - I recommend spend the extra bucks for the pcIIIr - it's only about 30bucks more, but you get timing adjustment capability - and contrary to what you've heard - timing matters. Also Akra has maps/downloads for almost all of their stuff. That alone will save you a few bucks at the tuning center - provided you decide to dyno it after install. I f you have a computer (and apparently you do!!!!!!!), you can program it, verify and check the load before you even put the thing in your bike. It takes about 45mins to install and after you ride it for about an hour you'll wonder why Yamaha didn't make a programmable ecu in the first place. Steven
So well worth it then?
Thanks Steve.

Is it worth while with just a slipon?
Does one not need a full pipe to get the best out of it?

I've used my 3R with a D&D slip-on, the stock exhaust, and now with a full Hindle system.......it proved its benefits with each application. Hell, anything that lets you override the factory-set, emissions-friendly fuel curves has got to be a bonus!

the PC is very well worth it.. I just got the base model III, and it has worked wonders for low end response.. plus I got lucky because they had a pre-fab map for stock filter and devil slip-on.. and installation only took about 20 mins, and that's only because I had to take care in taking the Scotts damper off.. buy it, you will not regret shelling out the dough for it! :rock

I also agree. I got the pc3R because there wasn't a huge price difference. I've have an akro slip on too with velocity stacks and I run the standard akro slip on map. It took me about 45 minutes but I was a novice when it comes to installing stuff like this. I've gotten better though. Low end grunt is there and mid range is noticeably improved (some of that has to be the stacks though). The ass dyno says it's stronger and smoother and when I finally go full system, I'll have the right tool already in place.
