bigb76180 06-03-2003, 09:05 PM I was just wondering if any of ya'll had any opionins on the GYT-R Exhaust if it is pretty good or if it would be better to go with something like Graves or Arata or hindle or something like that?
thanks ya'll:hellobye
VinR1 06-04-2003, 11:20 PM the dealership threw in the carbon slip on when I purchased my bike... kinda sounds like a D&D but not much power gains. IMHO save for a full system like Arata or Graves. Still have it collecting dust in my garage if you wanna buy cheap
R1Fanatic 06-04-2003, 11:26 PM PM the forum member RGertner, he recently installed a GYTR on his R1...
bigb76180 06-05-2003, 01:48 PM If i did go with something arata or graves would i have to get a power programer like the PC3?

Slip-Ons don't require a PC3, but if you install any full system, they are a must!
bigb76180 06-05-2003, 03:20 PM i am looking for a slip on that is pretty loud i have heard good things about graves slip ons but are the arata slip ons pretty good sounding?
thanks:confused:

Arata doesn't make slip-ons. Just full titanium systems...

R1Budha 06-05-2003, 08:41 PM I Have the GYT-R Slip-on on my 03 R1.
I like the sound, (not too loud, but does sound low and mellow).
It reminds me of the V&H SS2R i had on an older FZR600 for deep sound, but i think that it is a little snappier when revving. Also it has a liner on the can so that the CF will not overheat.
I have a PCR-IIIR that i will be installing, as well as the K&N Air filter. I am working on maps now (see my post if you have one), so iwill keep up to date if i get a good one. I have also changed the front sprocket to one tooth smaller.

I like the GYT-R. I noticed that Yamahas racing teams are using the GYT-R pipe on the motorcross and roadrace bikes. anyone have dyno charts?
Skipped_link 07-14-2003, 06:09 AM I also have the GYT-R carbon pipe just a little info if you are still interested in getting one Yamaha claims an 8hp gain over stock, I didn't really notice a difference but I only had my bike a week before installing it, another thing I might add is in the firs thousand miles I noticed that a couple of the bolts that hold the end caps on were loose I tightend them up and haven't had a problem with the bolts since, but last weekend I noticed the pipe was kind of flopping around while riding, when I took it apart I found that the connecting pipe was broke loose from the perfforated tube in the silencer, not really a big deal I just rewelded it and put it back togeather, I'm not trying to scare you away from the pipe #1 I love the way it sounds, #2 not that many people have them#3 It's Yamaha so it's got to be good
If anyone els has had any problems with theirs let us know maybe I just got a lemon! I'm not scared it's all good now!
