I know there are other R1 riders in the Appleton area. I was at Elkhart for the races weekend before last and camped out across the track with riders from Appleton, Sheboygan, Fon du Lac (I think), etc. I even ran into UMVME is from Madison. I live in southeastern Racine presently.

Hello mnrr1, I'm trying to think where Oconomowoc is??? How far are you from Appleton? Sure would be nice if we could get a few R1's on a ride some time. We rode about 300 miles last Sunday up to Rhinelander. We are always looking for reliable people to ride with. Welcome to the board. I see you have the nice silver R1.

We have two rides planned for this weekend so I won't be able to make stunt fest. We will be leaving from my house in Appleton at 8 AM Saturday and riding up to Iola to the car show. Sunday we will do either a reservation run (great ride 76 north to 187 to K to 55 north to 52 into Antigo for lunch then 47 back across the res) or we will be doing a Kettles ride. We also have the White series race at Wisconsin International Raceway (WIR) Saturday night followed by barstool races at the checkered flag. Anyone is welcome to join us. Speed cautiously!!!

Thought you guys would get a kick out of this one.... :lol Wisconsin is my Home Jeff Foxworthy on Wisconsin If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 18 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in Wisconsin. If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights each year because International Falls is the coldest spot in the nation, you might live in Wisconsin. If you have ever refused to buy something because it's "too spendy",you might live in Wisconsin. If your local Dairy Queen is closed from November through March, you might live in Wisconsin. If you instinctively walk like a penguin for five months out of the year, you might live in Wisconsin. If someone in a store offers you assistance, and they don't work there, you might live in Wisconsin. If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his forehead, you might live in Wisconsin. If you may not have actually eaten it, but you have heard of Lutefisk, you might live in Wisconsin. If you have worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you might live in Wisconsin. If you have either a pet or a child named "Brett", you might live in Wisconsin. If your town has an equal number of bars and churches, you might live in Wisconsin. If you have had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you might live in Wisconsin. If you know how to say Oconomowoc, Waukesha, Menomonie & Manitowoc, you might live in Wisconsin. If you think that ketchup is a little too spicy, you might live in Wisconsin. If every time you see moonlight on a lake, you think of a dancing bear, and you sing gently, "From the land of sky-blue waters, ....you might live in Wisconsin. Series II. YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE WISCONSINITE WHEN: 1. Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway. 2. "Vacation" means going up north past Hwy 8 for the weekend. 3. You measure distance in hours. 4. You know several people who have hit deer more than once. 5. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again. 6. Your whole family wears Packer Green to church on Sunday. 7. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching. 8. You see people wearing camouflage at social events. (including weddings) 9. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked. 10. You think of the major food groups as beer, fish, and venison. 11 You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend knows how to use them. 12. There are 7 empty cars running in the parking lot at Mill's Fleet Farm at any given time. 13. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit. 14. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow. 15. You refer to the Packers as "we." 16. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction. 17. You can identify a southern or eastern accent. 18. You have no problem pronouncing Lac Du Flambeau. 19. You consider Minneapolis exotic. 20. You know how to polka. 21. Your idea of creative landscaping is a statue of a deer next to your blue spruce. 22. You were unaware that there is a legal drinking age. 23. Down South to you means Iowa. 24. A brat is something you eat. 25. Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new pole shed 26. You go out to fish fry every Friday 27. Your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost. 28. You have more miles on your snow blower than your car. 29. Hey future Wisconsin rider here.....buying a Yamaha R1 soon....what are some mods do some of you guys have on your bikes???

rhoag
06-01-2004, 11:15 AM
That depends on what year you buy? But no matter what year put a good steering damper on it (yes even the 04), Integrator in tail light and fender eliminator, rear seat cowl and whatever else you want and can afford. Bottom line is where and how you are going to ride it. Street/track, and how fast do want to go. My .02 cents

MojoR1
06-02-2004, 01:59 PM
amen to the steering damper! an absolut must unless you never take above 5K rpm's. that's the only thing the bike NEEDS, just as it needs wheels or the engine. everything else is just fun stuff.

the race weekend starts thurs and goes thru sunday. yeah, tommorow! i heard it's like $30 at the gate each day if you don't get a super ticket which covers all 4 days @ about $80 to $90 i think. you're 2 hours from madison, madison is 1 1/2 from elkhart. your bike should be hard to miss, you should post a pic of that, the mods description is impressive! do you drag it? or is it just for fun, really expensive fun anyway.

This is a $1300 suit and I'm selling it for $660 cash. It still has the tags on it. Just thought if someone was looking for a suit and they are this size this is a great deal. Ok so who was aout on sunday?????? I saw two pretty good sized groups getting off the Merrimac ferry on hwy 113 going towards Devil's Lake, there were a couple or R1's in each group. I was jealous as I was piloting my p.o.s. explorer loaded down with camping and climbing gear.

Ok winter is just around the corner and we have done a terrible job of getting group rides planned and organized, so here is my last ditch effort. We will meet at the Northsider Richmond and JJ (I think it's a Citgo) at 0915 Saturday Sept 3rd with a 0930 departure NO MATTER WHAT. Then proceed to Shicton, (to hopefully pick up some Green Bay riders) arriving at the bowling alley on 54 and 187 at approximitely 1000 we will depart the bowling alley at 1015 and proceed north on 187. From there we will do the normal res run with Bill or Shane running radar detector for us (I have a plan trust me!!) We can either head across to Crivitz for lunch or do the normal Antigo route. I prefer the Crivitz run. Ok that's what I am doing I hope to see a few people there. Link to this post and replies on FVSR http://fvsr.com/bb/viewtopic.php?p=468#468 Green Bay riders I think it's about the same distance to Appleton or Shicton so you could meet us in either spot. Rob PS: There are still some openings for the Black Hawk Sept 11th track day.

Next weekend a few of us will be at BlackHawk for a track day, so that will be our riding for the weekend. Are there any good roads down by you to ride? We need to get a guy from north west of Madison to organize an R1 ride once a year since the best roads in the state are over there. Come on someone step up and take the bull by the horns and plan a ride.

I am dying to go to trackday and plan on attending at least one this year. I just bought a 929 I plan on "tracking out" so I am excited as all hell :jump let me know asap thanks....I need some time to plan everything etc. Als

how much for the track day? 165.00 This is cheap no membership fees. do they rent leathers? if so how much? No I have leathers. what gear is REQUIRED to ride there? For the beginners group all that is required is a Jacket (Textile or leather, helmet, gloves, any boots that cover your ankle, and two pairs of jeans. where are you staying? We are going down on Saturday evening and staying in Janesville Motel 6 41 bucks a night for two people (cheap). anyone with room for one more bike on a trailer? Yes we have three going but can put one in the back of my truck. any other info would be very helpful. go to there website at http://www.privatetracktime.com/ I am dying to go to trackday and plan on attending at least one this year. I just bought a 929 I plan on "tracking out" so I am excited as all hell. Ok If you have never done a track day before I HIGHLY recomend doing your first one with PTT. Here is a list of why I recommend PTT. 1. There is only about 20 riders in each class. 2. In between sessions they actually take the time to teach you how to ride faster on the track. 3. Control riders with there EGO in check and there to try and help you. 4. More track time eight 20 minute sessions (no lunch break) 5. They issue you a number for your bike when you get there. (mine was 69) 6. Well organized with smooth tech, registration and riders meeting. 7. Any problems are handled ASAP. 8. Guy from learning curves school was there and available for any questions (even when not instructing). Sent you an e-mail

There are atleast 3 of us going to blackhawk this weekend for a track day on Sunday the 11th. they still have openings but the price is 20 bucks higher. Other than that we are going to try and get atleast one more ride in before it gets to cold.
