: Rock Store ride - Sat. June 21st
R1_Demon 06-12-2003, 11:22 PM Hey all,
I'm setting up a Rock Store ride (and maybe the surrounding area or so) on Saturday, June 21st.
Everyone is free to come on out and ride with us (Sick & Twisted). I figure the more the merrier.
We're meeting at the In-N-Out at Tustin Marketplace right off I-5 & Jamboree (it's actually located at the corner of Jamboree & El Camino Real) at 9:30 am that Saturday morning (not this Saturday but next Saturday the 21st).
I figured that if any of you guys/gals want to go with us, just PM, post or email me and let me know so I know to expect you up there to meet with us.
I've never been there and figured it would be kind of cool and if I get to meet you guys/gals (or some of you again), that would be cool.
Cya guys later...
Mat
CMRRA13 06-13-2003, 07:13 AM What route are you planning on going up to the Rock. I might be able to me you guys along the way.
R1_Demon 06-13-2003, 10:48 AM To be honest...I'm not sure yet.
I've never been there. We just all decided to go. Some of the other guys have gone, so I'll have to ask them how they want to go. I'll post that info as soon as I get back from Vegas.
If you're going up to Vegas this weekend we can chat about it and see what's the best way. I do have one of those MAD Maps (bad as hell) that show the routes and such. I don't know if we are doing that or what.
I'll have to find out how the guys are deciding to go, but won't know until after I get back on Monday.
I'll let ya know though as soon as I know.
Mat
BRBJackson 06-13-2003, 11:30 AM Im thinking about doing this ride, and would be bringing my Mad map. My buddies and I used to ride the Rock Store area every weekend back in the 80's, but years of grain alcohol and bong water abuse have left me somewhat confused on the area :crash Maybe I can coerce one of my esportbike.com guys to join us as tour guide.
One good way to get there is to take the 5 or 405 N to the 10 (Santa Monica Fwy.) west to PCH, then cruise north up the coast to one of the sweet-a$$ roads like Latigo, which will eventually lead you to Mulholland and the Rock Store. There's a stretch of Mulholland past the Rock Store that is the closest thing to a racetrack on the street I've ever found :fact Just watch out for CHP presence...
R1_Demon 06-13-2003, 11:35 AM Sounds good and you ought to come out....bring whomever. I just want to have fun and the more people the more fun.
We had a blast on the last ride (R1 ride) and would like to do it again and incorporate everyone. :)
R1THE1 06-15-2003, 04:30 PM We had a blast on the last ride (R1 ride) and would like to do it again and incorporate everyone.
yes we did ............ill be there ....
Sam56n 06-16-2003, 10:51 AM Me and my buddies ride these canyons every saturday, we'd love to join you guys, but we live close to mullholland so if you want to set up another meeting time (say about 10 am at the starbucks on topanga and ventura www.sfvbikenight.com ) we'd meet with you guys there
also, if you want, i can give you our route to the store, it's got some tight twisties, some smooth corners and up and down elevation, it's kinda technichal but great roads
Mullholland, -> dry cold creek. -> mullholland, <- stunt road, -> sheren (i don't know the spelling) -> piuma (wicked road) -> lasvergines <-mullholland and after a great section of sweepers, we get to the rock
R1_Demon 06-16-2003, 11:27 AM Well, put it this way...you guys let me know where it would be convienent to set up another meeting spot for you guys.
I'm not familiar with the area what so ever....so I have no clue. I know a couple of the guys that are going from down here have gone there before.
So, let me know where it would be good to set up the meeting spot and then I'll tell our guys prior to leaving that we have to go to that meeting spot to meet with you guys...
Sound good?
Mat
BRBJackson 06-16-2003, 02:21 PM Sam, a second meeting spot sounds good. The Starbucks location puts us in the valley, though, and since we might be heading that way at the end of the day, I'd like to avoid doing it twice. As far as I know, the shortest path for us southies is the 10W to PCH to Latigo, so maybe we can just meet at the rock store at (pick a time)? If there's a better way, I'll gladly defer to your extensive local knowledge though.:D
CMRRA13 06-16-2003, 05:47 PM I might just meet you guys at the Rock unless there's another meeting spot along the way coming from the south side of LA.
I usually take 405 - 10 - PCH - Topanga - Old Topanga - Mullholland

not to spoil your expectations but if you're going to do Latigo Cyn please take it easy. ..as soon as you get the hang of it, it becomes tight and it gets technical with reducing turns, rocks, etc. I only say this because everytime we've been to Latigo, someone always crashed. my 2 cents.
Sam56n 06-17-2003, 10:53 AM first off, i am in love with latigo, she is my baby, she is rough with me sometimes but at the end of the day she puts a smile on my face,
sorry about that ,
so, rock store at 11:30?
is that OK with everyone?

Hey there Crash,
Thanks for the tip man. Good to hear that info! I've never been there and would hate to take a turn(s) too fast and go down. That's not my idea of a fun day. Hehehe...
Seriously...thanks for the info!
Rock Store at 11:30 should be cool. I'll let my guys know we're going to meet you guys up there. :)
Cya then!

NoudR1 06-17-2003, 02:57 PM :hellobye
I hope I can make it.
I need some new riding buds !!
Those Esportbike guys either NEVER wait for me (Bill) or they ride HONDA'S !!!!
Seriously though - If any of you are up for a long hall - Some people are heading North on the 23 to Moorpark and then to some great roads around Ojai / Frazier Park. (150 / 33 / Lockwood Valley )and then back to some or all of Lake Elizabeth / Lake Hughes / Sanfrancisquito / Big "T".
R1_Demon 06-17-2003, 03:07 PM Well, I just told all my guys that we'll meet the R1/Esportbike guys around 11:30 at the Rock Store.
I haven't met a lot of you guys, so if you see a red/white/black 02 R1 pull in with R1 Demon in chrome lettering on the windscreen, it's me...come up and say hi and let me know who you are. Hehehe...I don't want it to look like I'm ignoring you or being a dips*it when it's just that I don't know you're on the R1 Forum. Hehehe...
Hope to see a lot of you guys Sat.
Cya,
Mat
BRBJackson 06-17-2003, 04:13 PM Those Esportbike guys NEVER wait for me (Bill)
Jim, it's like I keep telling you... just follow my riding style closely, and soon you'll be cutting 5 minute lap times at Cali Speedway... JUST LIKE ME!! :crash
Seriously though, are you coming on the Rockstore or the Ojai run this weekend, bro? I had a chance to ride with some of the R1-Forum crew a couple weeks ago, and can vouch for the fact that they are VERY cooll peeps. Come to Mulholland with us!
NoudR1 06-17-2003, 04:29 PM The rides will intersect from what I can tell.
The other group will be doing the Rock Store and then having lunch at Neptune's Net on PCH.
Then - Just some of that group will continue on to Ojai.
And - Five minute Lap-Times ???
We'll see - I'll be sure to Armor All my tires real nice for Fontucky !!! :D
BRBJackson 06-18-2003, 04:49 AM I'll be sure to Armor All my tires real nice for Fontucky Yeah, that's about the ONLY way I'll be able to keep your fast a$$ in sight
Hey, looks like more folks are coming on this ride Saturday. For those of you heading up from OC/LBC/South Bay, I'd suggest we meet up somewhere off the 405. Any suggestions around Torrance? CMRRA13?
CMRRA13 06-21-2003, 07:40 AM I'll be at Del Amo Motosports at 10AM. 405 north exit on Inglewood. Turn right and go to Marine and turn left. Before you go back under the freeway you should see it on the left. If your on the freeway and miss the exit, you will see it right next to the 4 wheel shop.
