right so i just purchased a 99 R1 about a week ago
i've had dirt bikes and other crappers and an f2 for about a week a couple years ago (till my dad found out) but this is really the first really fast street bike i've owned
so i had a few questions
today was the first day i was really push the thing and 2 things happened that struck me as wierd
1 i was accelerating hard and then hammered on the brakes just before a steep corner and i got "head shake" i think thats what you would call it
i assume its cause i was braking to hard before any good contact w/ the front tire? is that correct
so how should i change my riding to correct that
a little back brake before i crush the front?
or ... well let me know
2 i was thinking about getting some aftermarket footpegs w/ no hinge cause' i kept noticing the hinges moving under my feet
but today when i was pretty deep in a corner i dragged the front of my foot on the ground
so is getting stiff pegs dangerous?
or am i riding wrong
should i really be paying atention to my inside foot and craming it against the side of the bike?
last thing is does any one have like a disgustingly old and crappy pair of boots or pants
im a student and pretty poor and now in debt for 4 grand (wich is all i paid for my bike. yeha!!!!!)
i have some really crappy pants can i glue knee sliders on those?
i just don't think i should be riding around in sneakers and jeans anymore so any sugejestions as to a cheap way to be safe would be apreciated
thanx alot sorry for the long ass post
this bike ****in rules:thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

You're gonna kill yourself. Go buy a good suit (leather) and helmet.
Then continue by using the bike like normal. Take it out for some twisties without using a wide open throttle. No need for that. You have to learn the physics of the bike.
You get a head shake because you're acting clumsy on the bike.

try riding with the balls of your feet on the pegs rather than riding flat footed. It makes a big difference getting those feet up out of the way, also its alot easier to control the bike that way because you are supporting your body weight more with your legs instead of with your ass. :butt

was the "headshake" fast or a slow, side to side move by the rear end?\
Also, Sweedie is right, get a suit, at the very least a jacket. If you think you'r going to go fast enough to need sliders, you need a suit!!!!!

the head shake was wierd i thought thats what it was weird i was in 3rd at going about 65 - 75 i think and then i layed on the front brake
but then later that day it did it again just braking hard not off had acceleration and i tried to make it hapen again and it doesn't shake my hands it just makes like a slapping noise or something
it might be a sound from the rear i'm really not too sure yet
i checked to see if anything was loose but nothing struck me right off?
thanx again
