Just got back from taking my 100% stock '99 R1 to the Los Angeles County Raceway for the first time ever. She has 24k miles and the rear tire is a Dunlop 208GPA that's basically shot. It was around 80 degrees the whole night. My corrected for sea level times: 1/4__12.50 60'__2.34 Speed__119mph 1/4__13.49 (don't ask!) 60'__2.42 Speed__118mph [then I lowered psi from 36 to 24 and started warming up the rear by doing burnouts] 1/4__12.39 60'__2.47 Speed__123mph 1/4__11.67 60'__2.29 Speed__126mph 1/4__11.91 60'__2.42 Speed 126mph [this should have been my best run of the night, but I bogged BADLY off the line :crash ] 1/4__12.58 60' 3.00 Speed 126mph Now my question is, shouldn't my MPH be much higher than 123mph, even with terrible 60' times? Also, even with stock gearing, I would have expected to have a hard time keeping the front tire on the ground, but didn't have any trouble at all with power wheelies. None, actually. :cryin My freakin '93 CBR900RR with 113rwhp got consistent 118mph when I had it.

2003-R1, note that I just corrected my times for sea-level to make it easier for everyone. If anyone is interested, my best "non-corrected" time was 12.04 at 123mph.

I'm no pro but those are bad. I,m an amateur but I have managed a best 10.68 @ 132mph with a stock 2000 including running stock air pressures. Your 60' times are high and where I myself have alot of trouble but even with a bad run you should be able to run a 2 sec 60 foot. My best has been a 1.804 60 ft but it was a rare occurrence and I seem to be able to run 1.9s more consistant (I know they suck too) You have to be able to get that puppy through the 1/8 ijn under 7secs to post a decent run, good luck. All you need to do is practice a little and she should come around. On a side note I run against a m03 1k and he was running high 11s @123 mph. I figure he was heading to the store for groceries ha ha.

I am no professional either, but by looking at your short times and then the fact the you say there was no issue keeping the front end down, I would bet that your clutch is getting close to being toast and is slipping or you're just slipping it too much. It is impossible to get on 1st and 2nd gear hard and the front end not want to come up.

OOps... I just remembered that after dropping my rear PSI to 24lbs, I forgot to raise it back up and I rode through some twisties on the way home at 120mph. :2bitchsla
