I was thinking about putting a 15 tooth front on to better my launches. If I,m right thats one tooth smaller then stock. Does anyone know how much this will help?? and if I strap it how much will this improve my times. Just figured I'd check to see if anyone just went this route. I'd go with a lowering link too but I feel I would be getting away from stock too much and I think I may even feel a little guity with the strap, any advice on this set up?? How much should I expect to shave, time wise, with just the front sprocket on average? Thanks for the help.

I did the 15 frount tooth thing, got a 10.6 to a 10.8, The strap and the link is the way to go with the 15 frount. it should be good for very low tens. Oh ya make sure you order a clutch.
Strapping and lowering will make it waaay easier to go fast. I got more out of lowering than from sprockets. Of course front sprockets are cheap too!!!
Straps are extremely cheap, get the schnitz racing one.
If you are interested I have a speed link adjustable link for sale. Drop me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks for the help guys. I have the strap ordered and a -1tooth sprocket. On a side note what are the best sprocket chain cobinations in terms of quality and dura bility. I want steel rear for strength and a good chain. I ordered a sprocket specialists already for the front but I may have to anty up for a chain and a rear though too

Anyone tried the 14/43 tooth combo? Is that too low for the 1/4? Also, is there a way to make the rev limiter cut out a tad higher? My '99 seems to cut out at 10,500. It is a UK model, if that makes a difference.

Lowering and strapping make the biggest difference. Take in to account when you chane the gearing, you are going to add to the allready high chance the bike will wheelie. I found on mine that the best compromise was a 1 tooth up in the back. Any more than that, and the thing was unusable in 1st gear. Any one who drags alot knows that the ET is all in the 60 ft. If you are going up,you are not going forward. As for the last post on the U.K 99, I have a US 99, and my limiter comes on just over 12,000. Im sure there is something different in the cdi box. Just my .02 !
