DO NOT listen to this NoudR1 character... he is a liar, a bad navigator, and he rides too slow :fact J/K :D Jim puts on the best group rides around, and he's a great guy to hang out with. As far as riding "with" him tho, you'll see him at the beginning of a road, and at the end, where he'll be sitting, helmet/gear off, smoking a cigarette ;) That said, I'm sure he'll split the group up into a few speed levels. Fun for everybody :yesnod Dragon Squadron, do yourselves a favor and try to come on this ride :rock PS: There is a slight possibility we will end up at a gay bar at some point :lol :lol

Just as we were going to take the exit back to 101, we turned the other way. By that time, the other bikers had caught up and were heading to the freeway too. Well, at last minute, we turned the other way and he couldn't change lanes anymore. ...I'm sure he was pissed off he got suckered by a bunch of riders. He didn't really have anything on us but he knew we had to be guilty of something and wanted to pull us over anyways :butt

Hey guys, This ride is still on right? I've been bragging about it to some friends of mine in the club...was wondering if it's cool if I bring them along? They are good people to ride with...so I'm sure that won't be a problem. Probably 1 or 2 might make it (along with myself). Just makin' sure it's cool. Cya, Mat

Cool...I'll post it on our board. I already spoke with one guy who's cool to ride with and I believe he's in...we'll see who else wants to get their arse up really early to make it. We'll be leaving Tustin around 5:45 or so to make it up there by 7. LOL Some of them are wimps and won't do it...but some are hardcore fun fanatics (such as myself) and will get up early for a fun ride like this. Plus, you guys are cool to ride with, so it's worth it. Oh ya, one other thing...just a simple request... NO DAMN TICKETS THIS TIME. LOL!!!! :lol :lol I know I'm working now and all, but still. Hehehehe... So, Bill, tell the 5-0 to stay at home, would ya? LOL :lol <<< took one for the team last time...someone else's turn now. LOL :finger :yesnod :lol :lol :lol

last time from, my house in Orange County (right about where the 405 & 5 split ) it is like 65 miles up to Sunland. I went last time we met up there. Not a bad ride in the mornin' cuz no traffic...but the rest of the ride we did last time was a blast...but I was soooo farkin' tired when I got home. LOL But it was worth it!

It only took about an hour to get there from my house, but I was Flying! If you want to come up and crash at my place (or maybe my in-law's place) the night before you are welcome to, I can lend you my extra Corbin seat so your poor :butt won't be so sore.

I'm very interested in this ride, but a little worried about how difficult it is? Would this be too much for a first-timer in the twisties? I just don't want to spoil everyone's fun if people are going to slow down just for me. Oh yeah, this is my first post!

Ronin R1
08-02-2003, 01:26 AM
Welcome, it's a pretty moderate ride if it is the same we did last time. Don't worry about being slow. Most of us ride at our "Pace" and meet up at the end of each section.

Here's a rough version of a handout that will be provided on Saturday. (The map(s) have not yet turned out very well.:( ) BIG OJAI RIDE / 8/9/03 HAVE FUN! Ride within you limits! Please – no crashes. There will be No prizes for finishing 1st or Podiums at the end of this day. HAVE FUN !!! 1. Big T (Tujunga Cyn) – Excellent – Mostly sweepers, some tighter stuff. Many transitions & elevation changes. We will turn left at the Stop Sign onto…….. 2. Angeles Forest Hwy – More of the same. When you see the LONG downhill straightaway – the twisty canyon part is over. Keep on going all the way to the Stop Sign. Turn Right and then you will turn left to get on the 14-North (CAREFUL! CHP SPEED TRAP) Exit Palmdale Bl. WEST. (Turn Left). We’re meeting some riders at the Del Taco on the Rt. We will continue West until turning left on… 3. Bouquet Cyn – Fun Canyon – fairly short as we will be turning right onto…….. 4. Spunky Cyn – After you pass the Lake – it gets tight and technical. 1st uphill then downhill. Beware of some sandy parts. This ends up in a lightly populated residential area. At yje Stop Sign we will turn Left onto………… 5. San Francisquito Cyn – After leaving the residential area – Some excellent sweepers – When it tightens up at the bottom – beware of some dirty corners. At the stop light we will turn right and proceed to the 5 S. We will exit at PARKER ROAD and we'll be gassing up at the gas station on the right next to Carl's Junior. 6. Lake Hughes Rd.- Stay slow until passing Lake Castaic. After cresting the hill – The most beautiful sweepers I’ve seen. It then becomes tighter and more technical as it continues up. An excellent road to the very end. At the Stop Sign – we’ll turn left onto….. 7. Lake Elizabeth Rd – Fast & Fun. BIG elevation changes. When you see the TURN sign that reads “30mph” – Pay attention – the road does tighten up for a bit at that point. Take this all the way to the Stop Sign. Turn Left and proceed on this 2-lane hwy past Quail Lake to the 5 North. Exit in Frazier Park. Turn left go under the fwy. Turn right at the 1st Stop. We’ll be getting gas at the station on the right side. Then, continue up the Mountain turning Left onto…. 8. Lockwood Valley – Long fun canyon road with all types of riding. Be a little careful of some dirty spots. Excellent turns, transitions, elevation changes. Take this all the way until it ends and turn left on the………. 9. 33 (South) – Perhaps the best part of the ride. A plethora of turns that seemingly never end. It will get cooler as we get more into the Coastal Mountains. This ends at the 150 in Ojai. We can decide here on how we’re doing time-wise. Possibilities: A. Eating in Ojai & heading back. (150 E 126 E to the 23 S to the 118) B. Heading to Carpinteria to eat. (150 W ) C. Santa Barbara Pier to eat. (150 W Carpinteria then to Santa Barbara) * preferably via a small Hwy that runs along the foothills. I forget the # (192 or 252??) I do know where it is. Regardless of where the “lunch” takes place – We will return – 10. 150(East) – Gets a bit tight. Can have some traffic. Incredibly Scenic. When it turns to residential, after the shaded twisty area - Slow down. We’ll then proceed to the 126 West. Beware of tickets on this Hwy as well. We’ll be turning Right on the….. 11. 23(South) – Fun last set of twisties with an EXCELLENT tight section. Watch for some traffic toward the top. At the end – follow the signs to the 118 / 23 Fwys. The 23 South will take you to the 101. The 118 East will take you to the 5. If anyone wants to hit the Rockstore/Mulholland area – Take the 23S to 101S – Exit at Westlake Bl(23S) Turn Right – Go all the way up to Mulholland – Turn Left and take Mulholland all the way there. Great Road!!!

Sooooo, how did the ride go guys? I didn't go because my rear tire is almost gone and I can't afford a new one until the 16th. :( I didn't realize how bad it was until I looked at it last night prepping my bike for the ride today. It's almost a slick in the middle...not cool. Sorry I didn't make it. Ed - I got your messages on my cell phone, but I wasn't out on the ride...that's the reason I didn't return them. I figured it was kinda pointless cuz I couldn't help at all because I wasn't riding with them. Regards...
