Hello everybody, long time reader, first time poster looking for some help. I just bought my '02 Red R1 and am looking for detailed information about removing all the emmissions crap that we have do deal with out here in Cali. Specifically the charcoal canister and anything else you can think of. Info about what vacuum lines that need to be plugged, re-routed, or just plain removed, etc.... I am lookiing for specific information, so anybody that can help I would greatly appriciate it. I have read that it is not that difficult I just want to be sure to do it correctly.

Thanks for all your help.
This forum rocks by the way!

On my 2000 R1, (in SoCal), most of the sht. was already removed (rejetted...)
when I bought it at 2001. NOBADY LOOKED TO IT, OR EVEN DMV did not asked sht. when I bought it.
Later I removed all other stuff also
NO PROBLEM!!

Do all you want just don't call and tell
it to DMV or CHP...

Come on, somebody, anybody. I know that there are people in Calif that have done this. Help a fellow R1-er out.

I would sugest that you ride the bike and when you can say that you can handle and use all the power it has as is then re ask the question! My point is- It won't make a big enough differnce to someone who is new to the r1 or any bike!

it does'nt affect power and wieghs next to nothing, just leave it.

If your bike was caborated and you were going to intall a jet kit and pipe I would say yank the damn thing like I did. But since your a fuelly, leave it. The computer will compensate and it weighs a total of 11 oz. Paint the canister blue and put a NOS sticker on it and you can say it is a hidden wet system! Cool!
