I purchased this tail for my 2000 R1 from another web forum. It turns out this tail is definitely for a 98-99 model. I talked with Sharkskinz and they confirmed it through the very same photo's I'm attaching for you. It looks to be excellent quality and the color is slighty off from factory red in my opinion. The tail sells new for $225 primered and you can have this one for $190 painted and delivered to your door. Please email me with questions and I only want to sell it for what I paid.

Sorry, I'm not interested in buying your tail. I have a 2000 & it wouldn't fit mine either. I do have a question tho, does that tail fit with an enclosure on the bike like a Eurotail or Texas Tuck? Let me know, would ya?

From what I can tell, no it will not work with an undertail unit. I have the Dussault and had planned to sell it and buy a fender eliminator kit for $40 bucks and use a stock undertail with it. Hope this answers your questions.
