lsvtec 08-05-2003, 04:03 PM One of my friends has a '02 GSXR 600 with D&D slip-on pipe and I love the way it sounds, Loud! I was wondering if I put D&D slip-on on my '03 R1, will it sound like as loud since Yamaha has the EXUP valve? Or should I get a full system in order to get my bike to sound that loud?
BlueDevil 08-05-2003, 05:30 PM D&D are loud no matter what.
Full system if U intend to race or need the performance. For loud noise nothing beats a D&D
RUFFSTUFF 08-19-2003, 02:49 PM From experience it will be louder than any other exhaust full or otherwise. Not a deep tone loud, just loud.
stan UKR1rider 08-21-2003, 07:41 PM After wrecking my 1998 R1 in France on the way back from the WSB round in Valencia in March I bought my 99 R1 which was fitted with an Akropovic titanium end can and link pipe. Now i read everywhere that this is the exhaust to be seen with but the reality in my experience is that it was dull and quiet and i reckon it was a bit flat too. As the D&D race can on my old bike was more or less intact i gave the AK away and fitted the D&D...Now it might have been psychological but the bike seemed to gain an extra 10 bhp immediately and the noise is....well to quote a friend of mine the bike sounds like a Phantom on full re heat...Just get an end can mate...it'll be worth it to hear it popping and banging on the over run..
03r1atmypace 08-21-2003, 07:47 PM I had a d&d on my 2001 r6 it has no exup so I had just the slip on and it was ausome I loved the sound of that pipe. I was considering that for my 03 r1 but wanted to do something alittle different so I went with a devil high mount titainium and I love the sound of it but it is a deep sound and to me makes the bike sound mean and powerfull it sound realy good up around 9k rpms but I have never heard anything like that d&d at 15,500 rpms holy shit it was loud, loud enuff for me to get a disturbing the peace ticket in the middle of 3,000 harleys at bike week a few years ago.
stan UKR1rider 08-21-2003, 08:00 PM Yeah......i got black flagged 4 times at Donnington park on a track day last week for tripping out the noise monitor under the shell bridge and the start finish straight. Awesome (didn't pull in either)
fastone21 09-17-2003, 09:39 AM i just ordered a d&d slip on for my R1. I want it tosound loud. A local performance shop charges 45.00 for dyno pulls. I plan on putting the bike on the dyno and get a true reading at the rear wheel then bolt on the pipe and take another, The tech at d&d says the bike dynoed 139.1 stock and 145.7 after the addition of the slip on. I will post my results when I get them. Then I will add a set of velocity stacks, K&n, and a power commader 111. A make a map for the D&D
cyllo 10-14-2003, 08:48 PM My 2002 has a black D&D that matches the frame. If you want LOAD the D&D is going to get the attention!!!!! But I wish I would have gotten the chrome can now, I going into a chrome mode for the off season.
fastone21 10-15-2003, 01:35 PM I got the the black satin also. I like it and I spend more time riding and less time cleaning.
BigPoppa 10-15-2003, 01:46 PM Is there a big difference in loudness between the chrome and the Carbon Fiber D&D's??? anyone?? I heard the chrome is louder but how big of a difference could it be?
stan UKR1rider 10-17-2003, 04:39 PM I've got both and they're exactly the same.
is it possible to remove the inside of the stock exhaust and have a local exhaust fellow put some baffle crap inside. I had itdone to to a 250 bike years ago and man it was loud.... don't want my R1 that loud though.
any thoughts..
;)
mmmm I think I'll just buy a slip on.
;)
but am still curious if the stock muffler can be modified...
;)

Charger67 10-24-2003, 06:46 PM Sound files ? follow this link http://www.danddexhaust.com/dynotour.html
I was not happy with my Akra slip-on, to quit at low rpm, (exup) because i had a D&D mounted under my Blade, i knew what D&D
could do (ok a Honda is not a Yamaha, but...)
So last month i ordered the black satin slip-on, wich is mounted on the Kawasaki 2000 ZX9R dyno-clip,
Well, i'am very pleased to tell you, that the D&D under my R1 00
sounds just like the Kawa in the dyno-clip...and i love tunnels !!!
The D&D had also more power in 3th and 4th gear then the Akra
so, not only more sound, and lookes, but also more power.
(my neighbours are not pleased with me) :blush

one2watch 10-24-2003, 07:27 PM I have a chrome D&D slip-on on my 02 R1 and I love it! It looks good on the bike and the sound is awesome! My bike is the loudest one in the group I ride with and I like it that way! :rock
