EDucla-R1 08-10-2003, 09:44 PM  Sorry I couldn't make it by departure time on saturday, I had a little drama going on with my girlfriend, u know, the bike is more important and stuff like that, just cause I wanted to wash it and install my new front blinkers at three thirty in the morning when I got home so that it could be pimped out for the ride, but anyways... I left Pomona at nine in the morning, I hit the 210 to Sylmar and got on my uncle's computer to try an figure out the route. I finally got a description of it, so I rode down the 5 to the 14 to the Del Taco on Palmdale Blvd., but the group had already left. I got Nathan's number from Jeff in Temecula, and left him (you if you're reading this) a couple of messages but didn't get a reply. Sorry to bug you so much bro, but I really wanted to ride with yall. Anyways, I then went down San Francisquito and some other roads all the way down to the 126 hwy, then to the 101 which took me to Santa Barbara Pier. I was there from 12:30 to 2:30 waiting for the group but yall never came by. What hapenned? Change of plans? I thought you guys said "Hopefully lunch at the Santa Barbara pier"? Anyways, my buddy Brian actually took off with you guys but went back home like at 10:30 or so, he told me that somebody went down, are you okay brother? What hapenned? I almost hit a semi that night, and then I made a left turn out of the freeway and my back tire slipped on some pieces of thick ass plastic on the ground, got scratches on my baby now:cryin , thank God for those sliders though:crash ,now I just gotta replace the left cap for the oil cause it broke and it's leakin, I'm just gonna JB weld it till I get it, I already ordered it though. Anyways, please let me know what hapenned with the ride, and if the brother who went down is alright, thanks, and talk to yall later:cool:
NoudR1 08-10-2003, 10:17 PM :hellobye
The ride went fine.
There were maybe 30-35 riders in all. By the time we hooked up with the riders in AV at 9:05 we had lost a few already. Somebody lowsided about fifteen miles into the ride. He's OK and the bike was ridable.
There were a few complications and separations. One of the complications was MY dumbass typing 5S instead of 5N on the route. ( The part to the Parker Road gas stop )
Anyhow - I'm not sure who if any people were from this site. With some people dropping out early and heading home at different points throughout the day - we ended up with nearly twenty bikes by the time we hit the pier at about 2:30.
Of the three crashes - Nobody was injured. The bikes were all ridden home.
EDucla-R1 08-11-2003, 07:29 AM I left the pier at about that time, must've just missed you guys, I'm glad you had fun. I got directions from a fire station on Parker Road to the pier. Next time I'll be sure to stick to yall.
EDucla-R1 08-11-2003, 07:30 AM Who else crashed? I'de like to hear your stories! Maybe I can learn from them.
George P. Buono 08-11-2003, 09:45 AM Sorry to hear about you dropping your bike, it happens!:(
R1_Demon 08-11-2003, 02:15 PM I don't know if Jim gave you the wrong phone number or not.
My name is Mat and I was the one you called twice. Unfortunately I didn't make the ride, so that's the only reason I didn't call you back. I'm sorry about that, but I was running around like a nut trying to get things organized for work and such, so I didn't have a minute to call back when I did finally get home and saw the 2 voicemails.
Sorry about that. However, I did post about the phone calls on the original Ojai ride post. Sorry if you didn't get it there.
Plus, you might want to be more careful on your bike dude. I mean almost hitting a semi isn't too cool. I'm sorry to hear about it going down and scratching it, but seems like you're going nuts for the short time you've had it.
Just my $0.02 and not trying to be a dick about it but just don't want to see anyone else go down.
I'm sorry to hear that 3 riders went down on Sat. :( Only reason I didn't make it is that my rear tires is almost done (getting it replaced this Sat) and I didn't feel it would have been safe to ride on it through the canyons..especially pushing on it. I was bummed about missing out...but sometimes safety is better. :crash LOL :yesnod
Hope everyone had fun and I'm glad to hear no one got seriously injured.
EDucla-R1 08-11-2003, 06:56 PM Thanks for the heads up, but even though I ride hella fast, I'm as careful as possible. About the semi, I was on the left lane of a two lane street when a semi (which was on the right lane) switched to my lane. I was going bout 60 or 65, (slower than usually) and since the semi was going very slow I switched to the right lane so that I could pass him, well the moron did put his signals to switch to my lane, but then he started to make a right turn (that's why he switched to the left lane, to make a wide turn) and the mother ****er did not put his blinkers to turn right(people that don't use blinkers should be shot, starting with my girlfriend), so I hit my brakes but put way too much on the back, and it just started sliding, and leaning towards my right, I was leaning more than the bike leans when it's on the kickstand, going traight, with my bike tire moving towards the left, I was 100% sure that I was gonna either hit the semi, or go down, but as I honked that dumb **** stopped in the middle of the intersection, leaving me about 7 feet in between his front end and the cars waiting at the red light of the intersection (the streed that was perpendicular to the one I was riding on). well as my bike kept on leaning (cause my back brake was locked, not cause I was trying to lean), when I was about 15 feet away from hitting the semi I let go of both brakes, gave it a little gas, and just barely cleared the semi and a car, I ended up crossing the street on the pedestrian crosswalk and barely missing the sidewalk at the other end of the street. The worst part is that my cousin was on the back, it was a scary moment but I was glad to ride away from it, just so that an hour later my back tire could slip on some ****in black plastic. I would've walked away unhurt except for some bush dried up small spiky balls, don't know what they're called, just that they go through your skin and stick to you like a ****in dart. Anyways, thanks for the concern Matt, but I do try to be careful. I had a nail on my back tire but changed it on friday for the ride. Take care bro, laters.
R1_Demon 08-12-2003, 12:21 AM Well, I am very glad to hear you and your passenger are okay. Never fun when that crap happens. I've had to lock up the rear a few times cuz of stupid people pulling out or stopping all of a sudden because a leaf blows in front of their car or whatever. Not cool.
glad to see you're okay man.
jekyll 08-13-2003, 12:20 AM wow 3 riders down this was a bad weekend for bikes heard of a lot of crashes and one fatality on a 600RR RIP Hazad. Hey DEMON, I think were not too far from each other... nex time maybe we should ride out to Angeles to meet them, I have a couple of buddies local and we can go as a group.
R1_Demon 08-18-2003, 07:32 AM Hey there 1nETGu12u,
Sounds good. I'm down in Mission Veijo, so just let me know if you guys are going riding sometime or what not. Just went up to the G spot yesterday with one of my friends. Our first time there. One hell of a road man...omg...it was fun. I didn't like the tight side (going up) so much, but coming back you can see around corners and such for the most part and I had a damn blast...now I know why it's the rave...
Anyway, just shoot me a PM sometime and we can ride up to meet the LA guys.
Cya,
Mat
EDucla-R1 08-19-2003, 03:40 PM HEY JEKYLL, 171'S TIGHT, and i don't take it as if you're bragging, cause I'm not, plus I guess I 'm just trying to catch up to you then, I'de like to hit 170 in the freeway sometime, and 180 after I fix my bike up and get a damper,(is it dampner or damper, I've seen it written down both ways in shops). Anyways, I haven't gone faster then 120 lately cause I got ANOTHER ****IN FLAT, **** ME!!!!!!!!!
EDucla-R1 08-19-2003, 03:44 PM I wasn't finished yet, but anyways, I got my new tire on friday before the ride which I didn't get to go on, and last wednesday I got another huge ass ****in hole on my tire, don't know how, I just saw the tire flat as ****. I've got two plugs in it cause the whole was so damn big, but I sketch it all the time when I ride now, I'm afraid it'll go flat, specially when I turn, so I guess it'll be a while till I pass the 166 mark, but whatch out Jekyll, cause next thing you know while you're seeing that 171 on ur speedometer, a black blur with a UCLA BRUINS license frame will fly by you, hope to ride with ya guys soon, laters
