Do frame sliders really work that good?

Hey guys, I just ordered some frame sliders but was wondering if they really work that good. Please let me know. Appreciate it.:thumbup

Dropped my bike last year at about 20mph. All that got damaged was the lower fairing. Nothing else even scratched. Saved me about $900 in repairs. I'll never have a bike without them again!

Appreciate it.:thumbup I have seen them reduce damage and I have seen them cause bikes to get totaled. It all depends on the characteristics of the accident. I have seen bikes slide much farther than they would if they had been rubbing bodywork instead of delrin. Sometimes sliding farther will have bikes tumbling in the dirt. Sometimes the slider will get caught and bend the frame beyond repair. In general, I think sliders help more than they hurt. My bike has frame sliders on it. Scott

I also heard of 55 mph crash on the side which did total the bike due to the frame slider. The slider attaches to the frame in a spot which could bend the frame eazy if hit right, causing the bike to be totaled.:machinegu

What's the consensus on billet aluminum vs. Delrin? I see you can buy either, and wonder if anyone has any experience w/the alum.? That's what I would prefer, but it seems less apt to slide amd more likely to dig into the pavement, but I don't know...:eek:
