TANKSLAPPER - what is it ??Rico750 05-05-2002, 11:12 AM hi all..

Rico:thumbup Petrol_Spice 05-06-2002, 05:11 AM tankslapper (v.) The handle bars on a sports bike, flick from lock to lock(one side to the other) rapidly and at great strenght.
also see shake's it's head. YZF-R1 Maniac 05-06-2002, 05:20 AM :jump Also be carefull the 1st time you grab the front brakes when you have a Tankslapper. It causes the pistons in the calaper to spread away from the disk. Thus giving you stuff all or no brakes when you want them. A few squeeses on the leaver will soon have them back in place tho..:thumbup Rico750 05-06-2002, 07:24 AM so it only exists at high speed ?
it just happens ? or it happens at certan manouvres ?
i have really no idea what i have to take in mind.
greezt Rico:thumbup kneedragonr1 05-06-2002, 10:26 AM It is not necessarily a high speed thing. You can get them any time the front suspension is not able to do its job. Heavy acceleration: The front wheel does not have enough weight and is just skimming the road. A ripple could knock it out of line. Heavy braking: The shocks are under so much pressure they can not react to irregularities in the road. Setting down a wheelie: If the wheel is not straight
Can someone post the link to the vid of the Isle of Man tank slapper?

What could that poor soul have done in order 2 regain control of the Slapper?:crash kneedragonr1 05-06-2002, 02:08 PM The problem with tankslappers is when the rider grabs tightly on the bars and transmits the oscillations to the rear. You should just relax your arms, get your weight on the pegs, stay on the gas and wait for it to settle down. Easier said than done.
Erik S. Rico750 05-07-2002, 02:27 PM this tankslapper movie looks pretty scared.
Man, i cant emagine about crashing like that.
thx anyway. ! i know now what it is !
