I have seen conversations about the front end lowering straps. I realize they lower the front end, but do they help you launch better or what exactly are they for?? Also I can obviously launch the bike better w/ a full tank of gas; when I go to the track do I want a full tank to launch better or will the extra weight slow me down in the end. Thanks for the replies.

OOred1,
Front end straps keep the front forks from expanding which in turn helps keep the front on the ground. Also for every inch you can lower the bike expect to see about a 1/10 faster ET in the quarter. As far as the gas tank, you should be able to launch the bike better with lesser fuel. With a full tank of gas the center of gravity is higher. The object of drag racing is to keep the center of gravity as low as possible. Hope this helps.

The R1 has a high center of gravity thus making it difficult to drag launch. The lowering strap compresses the front forks thereby lowering the front end bias making the bike less wheelie prone so you can accelerate harder. It is the same reason drag cars are raised in the back and lower in the front.

I thought drag cars were raised in the back cause everyone knows cars go faster downhill. ;)

tieing the front end down with schnitz strap sould result in quicker ETs. mine made about 3tenths when my bike was stock wheelbase. my 60ft was 1 to 2 tenths faster. yet ableing me to launch @ 7500rpm. without the strap launch was @ 3000 rpm. my mph went down but the Et was faster. this due to increase 60ft andthe bike biting hard on the track. the scnitz strap is great becasue at the track you can tie it down and then release it when your done. then back to regular riding!!!it will definiately lower the center of gravity and allow better harder launches instead of wheelies

cams are good. definately noticable hp. haven't put on dyno yet. there are a bietch to put in. not sure that they are worth 750 bucks though.

the front strap allows for a harder launch as it keeps the front end down..sliding the forks up in the triple does the same thing and is the perfered method for us. The full tank isnt a great idea..adds weight to the bike. Use only a gallon, will help. 9s are easy with stock arm and pipe. Best of luck.:thumbup
