I'm thinking about getting an air shifter setup for my 00' R1. I read somewhere that it takes .044 sec. to shift by foot and .020 when using an air shifter. If this is true, I would be picking up 1.0 tenth in the quarter.
True or False
Secondly, does anybody have one on their bike now? If so, can you share the benefits and downside of an airshifter. Is it a messy afair? Will there be wires running everywhere, or is it a clean install? Explain the difference between air or electric over air etc... Please post pics of your setup if you have one.

The air shifter in my opinion is not the way to go. Why? Becuz that air shifter is gonna click your tranny into gear whether its ready or NOT!
I would go (and most likely will this winter)with "techtronics elec shifter" becuz in my opinion again, much less wear on your tranny.
I have a turbo R1 and really need help with shifting to keep up with the turbo....

the techtronics is basically just an engine kill for when you shift...right? How do you like that turbo? I'm squeezin' mine and am wondering how much better the turbo power is than n20. Also, how do you adjust boost? Does it have a knob up on the handle bar area or is it adjustable on the waste gate?

Well lets put it this way....I had NOS on my R1 first and liked it but ran out of the juice to fast. With an adjustable wastegate(down in the front of the bike) anywhere from 175 to 210 rearwhell hp is a "locking nut" turn away.
Back to the subject, I think I will lean more towards the electric shifter this winter.

An Air shifter done right works great and is a very clean install, as for shifting being hard on the tranny, that's not the case at all. You still have to use an ignition kill. So the engine is actually shifting during the kill. The only problem you'll have is if you decide to spray more than 60 hp of nos, then you'll need to undercut the tranny.

I seem to be having a problem with getting my feet back onto the pegs for the 1-2 shift. Has anyone heard of a handle bar mounted manual shifter? Or what about a cable that connects to your clutch lever and shifts when you pull in the clutch? I really only need it for the 1-2 shift b/c it is keeping me from lowering my 60' times.

Air shifter is the way to go.... I'll post up some picture of my setup with the gilles rearsets when I get back from vacation.... Also if you have the money, go with an autoshift setup where at your disired rpm the bike shifts automatically.... Me and 60" psb both use them..
