A brief report, more later with a little tidbit about the 02' R-1 that you guys that own them will like;) Basically, a good first outing at the national level for jonah. Qualified 13th out of a field of 31 entries, 3rd ride EVER on a 250, first time at SEARS ( a very technical and unforgiving track), Sorenson , DiSalvo, Sorbo , and quite a few others have this as a "home " track, and it's a place that requires lots of laps to pick up seconds below a 1:45 pace. The %112 cutoff was 1:47, so 8 guys out of 31 never got to start. He wound up 14th , last rider on the lead lap, but really did well, running some 41's and consistent 42's thru out. More later;)

Kick-ass! That's excellent dude. You gotta be proud. We were glued to the tube for the 600 and SBK races. I about shit when Nicky pulled that pass on Anthony and Miguel..... We're scrambling now to find some soft luggage that'll fit the R1 for the ride up to RA. I was doing the first oil change and tried the old luggage on, but it was a big no-go. I've had two pair of saddlebags catch fire on the exhaust in the past, and I don't wanna go there again. It's always my stuff that gets burnt too:no Maybe I should get Rhonda to swap sides with me:p

At any rate, a nice start:) Sorenson, Jensen, Sorbo and all were very impressed that he did that well in only his 3rd ride on a 250;) Our friend Jimmy Moore, who wound up 13th in the 600 race was doing 38's and 39's for a comparrison, but Sorensen ripped off one hi 1:34 in the 250 race, and mostly 35's during it:eek: A 250, well ridden on a track like Sears is formidable. Jonah said everytime over the crest of 2 into 3 and the start of the Carousel the bike wheelied all the way down the face, no matter how easy he was on the throttle.......... Katja IS a Babe and a half:boobies , she rode alongside Jimmy as a guest rider on the Corona team. Crashed once, and was generally regarded as slow. Her best lap was a 1:42, but she mostly ran 44-46's on the 750. Again, Sears would seem like a dangerous goat trail to anyone used to the nice tracks in Europe:fact I had a 15 minute talk with Chuck Graves Sunday morning about the R-1/7 hybrid " controversey ' within the AMA. He said it's all sour grapes because the bike goes so well with Damon on it and that Formula Xtreme machines were ALWAYS supposed to be the nastiest, wildest things within the origional rules. He then told me their next Xtreme R-1 would use the STOCK R-1 frame and swingarm because the changes the factory has done to the motor location and swingarm pivot point has brought them equal with the R-7 frame. He said the only thing they are working on is more adjustability which will be revised rear shock linkages and adjustable triple trees for rake and trail. That's good, then the R-1 guys can say with TRUTH, yeah Buckmaster won on an R-1;) The team will be at Road Atlanta. Hope I'll be there too! Ciao:hellobye

We'll see you there. I forgot to ask how the collarbone was mending?

The collar is doing better, but still sucks:p It'll be 3 weeks this friday and I've had it out of the sling since about last Thursday when I drove to Sears. Usually a 6 week heal type of deal. I'm a foreman for the plumbing side of our shop and do all the scheduling, bidding , ordering etc, but still work in the field a lot, so it's not all good, or bad;) I'm gathering pieces for the bike, new tank , tail, right side body work etc. Looks like around $3000 to get it like it was:cryin , but no frame or motor damage. I've broken it twice before when I was much younger, and highly recommend youthful bone breaks rather than middleaged ones;) I wish I was smart enough to attach pictures, we have a lot of really cool professional shots of Jonah ( a couple cresting turn 2 with his knee planted , head down, coming right at you that I'd put on here............ maybe one of you guys can talk me thru it?....... SLOWLY....... with small words ;)
