0-Max time?

Anyone know the max speed of the 2002 R1 and how long it takes to get up that high? Cause This guy is set in his mind that a Diablo could beat a bike in a 2 mile race because it has a higher top speed (203 MPH) Though Cars I know take A LONG TIME (it think it was like 5 minutes) to get to top speed where bikes Don't! So if anyone knows thatd be really helpfull!

I don't know the Diablo's spec's. The most important thing to look at would be how quick the car was in the 1/4 mile, and it's speed there. If the 02' R-1 runs a low 10 at around 135mph and tops out somewhere near an honest 170 mph, the cars gonna have to accelerate REAL hard ( for a cage ) to be able to reel in the bike in 2 miles, even if it does 180+ on top. Just my uninformed opinion;)

Its hard to say with the car, but Cycle World tested it at 10.32 at 137 MPH on Stock Street Tires. (MAx speed of 167 MPH) Though the Diablo sems to run anywhere from 12.10 - 10.89 from anywhere in the range of 118 MPH to 127 MPH And i have no idea what tires are on the thing, So who really knows.. But i really want to know around how long does it take for the Bike to get up to its top speed?

A mile is enuf;) , on flat stuff. That's the only thing the bike will have on the car, if indeed, the car does 180 or so. Give the car 5 miles, might be a different story. But , if i were a betting man ( with a rider who's not a wanker ), in a straight up 2 mile top out, my $$ would be on the bike;)

Well I will take that bet olddog. Here in Dallas, there are many of single turbo Supra's that will pull Hayabusa (sp?) all day long. I have seen it with my own eyes. They bike will get the jump from a 3rd gear punch, but once the Supra hits the top of 4th, the bike is not gaining that much speed any more and is almost topped out. Then the Supra will pull the bike for the rest of his gears. It is a site to see. The internet vids don't do it justice!!! Once any bike hits above 150 mph a car has the advantage because of better areodynamics. Plus the Supra is putting out just over 800 rear wheel horse power on race gas. here in Orlando with 800+ hp at the wheel Supras and there is a vast difference between the Supra when modded and an NA , sub400 at the wheel Diablo VT. A supra would (should) be running 10's with that power and with that yeah I've seen them pull a Busa too . But as far as the Diablo v. Bike 2miler. I'd say the bike takes it. cuz it's gonna take a long time for the diablo to hit that top end.

I 'spose if I lived where there wasn't too much twisty stuff, I might be interested in straightline stuff too. But I don't, and I'm not;) I like cars well enough, but don't really give a flying fu** about your typical 800 hp Supra......... WHATEVER ;) I think posting on a car site might sooth the car ego a little more than trying to one up everyone with an atypical car story. In 2 miles my $$ would still be on the bike vs. the Diablo;) Did you guys see on Speed tonite the 02' R-1 topped out at 169? The Gixxer 177? That'll piss a lot of people off too;)

In a 2 mile race my $$$ is gonna be one the bike, be it a gix1K, a busa, or a R1(stock) vs. a Diablo(stock). I just wanna know if you know someone who is willing to make a top speed run in their $200K Italian supercar just to settle the bet between you and your buddy!!!:eek:

I would put my money on the Diablo 6.0VT. The car will catch up and pull away from the bike in topend and 2 miles is plenty of time for the Diablo the catch and pass the R1. Mind you, this is Stock vs. Stock.

My 02R1 bone stock Hit rev limiter at 173.8 in just under a mile at sea level with zero headwind on a gps 3 which we have found to be very accurate. What are the numbers on that Diablo? Do they really do over 200 or is it hype? Is it from a dead stop? What are the parameters? What can we do with the bike? Pipe, pressureization, gearing, screen? We hope to be in the 180"s

Yeah Dead stop just for 2 and 5 miles I Know cars like the WRX take like 8 Miles just to get to top speed (Ive done it) Where Bikes are way faster, (1 mile as stated above) They are both stock, on say 94 Octane, No mods at all I really think the bike would win, Since after a 1/4 mile the car would be about 15 MPH less then the bike, And the bike would still gain for a while But unfortunately i don't know anyone who owns a Diablo..

Isnt it true that the diablo has 400 harsepower? If this is true than that car gets to 200mph on pure aerodynamics if at all. This being the case it will take waaaay too long. The R1 will be gone and the pretty car will be sucking hind titty. The car will be running you down, but it looks like at 2 miles youll be sittimg on your bike waiting to get paid.

the 0-160 time for an 02 R1 is 21.6 seconds, i'm also led to believe the 6.0L diablo will hit its top end (203mph) at 2 miles! i hate to say but i think the car would kick ass, the standing 1/4 times are pretty close(within a second) and i reckon that the car would come past on pure grunt! the difference would come in the fact that car drivers are pussies and wouldn't give it some anyway!
