I recently moved to the Denver area and can't believe the variations in price from dealer to dealer. I am wanting to purchase a 2002 R1 around my B-day 5/26. Was planning on purchasing from a dealer on the Southside but was turned off the other day when they start talking of - $400 Freight, $400 Setup, $1000 service plan(covers oil changes and services)was told after 500 and 4k mile service it would pay for itself and finally, gap coverage insurance(in the event of total loss it would cover amount financed). Kinda reminds me of buying a Harley, although on a smaller scale. He said out the door I'd probably be financing $14k. Sorry, but I dont like that type sales pitch. Other dealers in the Denver area were typically wanting $800 freight/prep. I would like to think I could buy a 2002 for around $11K out the door(tax rate is 4.7%). Any thought or suggestions?

They're trying to f@#$k you. Don't pay more than sticker($10299) plus tax and title. You can find better deals if you shop around.

I sell motorcycles and will say the 02 R1's sell very well exspecially the silver with tax, tiltle, and registration you should be looking to pay at their freight/assembly around 11,820 OTD I would strive for 11,400/11,500 mind you it is the hottest bike out their. If you want a good deal look for shops that focus on atv's and dirt bikes things of that nature because they are usually more welling to give a good deal on sport bikes because they don't sell as well in those areas. good luck oh you don't have to purchase their extended service but I do recomend the extended warranty

The MSRP is supposed to include freight and prep. I worked at two dealerships and know what goes on. Freight+Prep and Document fees are B.S. charges that are used in the bargaining process. They'll tell you that they'll waive the charges so you feel special while paying full sticker. If the guy that preps the bike is actually trained in what he's doing I could understand someone trying to charge for it, but when it's some high school kid (in the majority of cases) it's just a rip-off. You might as well buy the undercoating while you're at it. $10,299 should be the max you pay and not a cent more, anything else is just price gouging. I paid $9899 for mine OTD and felt like that was a fair deal.

come down to the colorado springs area. I just bought mine out the door for $ 11,274.68. bike was 10,299. setup was 249. dealer handling 48.50. It was the tax that kicked my ass( 678.18) Rocky mountain cycle is where I got it but you may get a better deal by playing the two dealers against each other.

I picked up my Blue 02 for $10,000 out the door. I just took mine in for first service and am looking at an additional $140 for it. Keep looking and you can negotiate a better deal... The R1 is a hot bike but you have the right to pay a fair price. Definetely do not pay over 10,299 MSRP for the bike; it should include all freight and prep.

I got my bike for $10,000 out the door.....I took a nice little drive from Colorado Springs to Delta....took about 5 hours round trip......I trailered it back in Feb....too cold too ride Dealers here wanted 10,599!!! That's just sticker price and no other bullshit added on yet! I have a dealer invoice report.....it only costs around $8700 and $45.00 to setup.....anything above that is CRAPPPPPPP!!!!!:bs we should get a discount because our state is burning down:thumbup WARNING: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ANY COLORADO SPRINGS DEALERS!!! All Terrain Motorsports in Grand Junction is tha bomb!!!
