In order to install the Ohlins steering damper, would it require me to drill any holes in the frame? I hope not.
Thanks. Art

Thanks. Art Swedie 12-13-2001, 05:24 PM I actually looked at my R1 today and there are already holes available to plug the steering damper into. On the left side...
I'll know more when I recieve mine.
Btw, I don't believe that Yamaha allows their customers to start drilling in the frame at any point on it.
That would weaken it a lot! R1ART 12-13-2001, 05:28 PM Thanks Swedie,
Do you know if you have to drill for the scotts damper? Swedie 12-13-2001, 05:51 PM I'm not sure but the dampers comes with a fitting kit.. that is probably made for just Your bike (R1).
It should fit without having to drill into the frame. Twisted Logic 12-13-2001, 06:53 PM I have the Scotts and there is no drilling required and it only takes about 15 min. to install. Great damper in my opinion it is up ou tof the way so it does not get smashed in a wreck and has adjustments for days. Brisse 12-14-2001, 02:46 PM You don´t have to drill in your frame.
Order with a fitting kit(harris or öhlins).
Thats it;)
R1...it´s a kick ass bike YZF_RHS 12-16-2001, 06:12 PM Ohlins fitting info at:
