Who has managed to get there bike all the way down in terms of the rear tire? I thought I was going pretty damn low the other day and still found about 1cm from the edge.

You're doing good for street riding.
I had mine on the track last month and used all the rear and 99% of the front. That's the only time I felt comfy using all of the tires.

On my way home from work, I have a slight downhill decreasing radius right hander. Depending on how late I decide to lean it, I can bring it all the way down... scraped my shoe one time I wasn't positioned correctly.
Then I have a downhill hard left in another 3 miles. Same thing, the later I get over, the harder I lean it.
Like I said. You can do it whenever you want, but it's really not responsible. Leaves you less room for error/correction. And brings the tire closer to it's traction threshold.
... but it IS fun :lol R1ZOOM 05-17-2002, 08:40 AM Mine is worn 100% to both sides, but I've been to race school when I had my R6, so that makes a difference! ricardo 05-17-2002, 08:55 AM Ive used all my tires, and then some. Last track day, i came off the tire and crashed.
Ricardo Dank 05-17-2002, 10:19 AM Me too, got'em scrubbed all the way..........:rock Twisted Logic 05-17-2002, 10:56 AM I use all mine at the track,I actually scraped my engine case at one time. This was before I painted it. Solidus 05-19-2002, 01:50 AM I was out at a secret public location and finally managed to get my kneepucks dirty. Used the entire rear tire , but I still have about a third of an inch of strip on the front. Question to all though. Has anyone besides me noticed that on the 02 ( vs. the 01 ) you have to continue to countersteer to keep it down in a tight turn. I'm just wondering if I was doing something wrong because the bastard kept wanting to come up even though I stayed even on the power through the turns and did'nt throttle up until exit. Nude rider 05-19-2002, 03:27 PM I scraped my pegs all the time on my cbr, but I'm still getting use to the R1. Gettin there though: Joubear 05-19-2002, 06:56 PM this is how your rear tyre should look Vega 05-19-2002, 07:35 PM I all of mine at the track, I need some rear sets, I scrape my stock foot pegs too much. But on the street I am more conservative specially when I cant see what is on the other side of the corner. One thing that does help in cornering is the size of the tire, the 180's make transitions smoother, but the 190's are more stable while mono ridding. Nahh, the 180's are stable enough.
:thumbup DaoTan 05-19-2002, 07:47 PM nothin on the left, tiny sliver on tha right, i dunno why, i don't like the right turns i guess, still learnin though spin 05-19-2002, 08:09 PM Got mine 100% at Deals Gap (Front and Rear). Along with both pegs, knee and toe sliders. Liter Boy 05-19-2002, 08:30 PM No chicken stripes on my rear tire. Front has a little but not much.:D | |
