Looking for some guys to ride with on the weekends.

Check out the ride posted in this forum for the 25th. It's not up by Angeles Crest, but it'll probably be a fun ride but down by Julian and such. :)

Not any more (well....once in a while), it's loaded with CHP and squids on weekends. I go midweek when I can, and the occasional Friday.

I ride the Crest on weekends, but like Eyespy said "it's loaded with CHP and squids".

Saturday's only for me.....usually at the Shell station around 9~10AM.

Not this weekend though.....going out od town for the weekend.

Hey let me know when you guys are going out and I'll try and hook up.

I'm actually taking the riders class at north hollywood this weekend, I wonder if anyone else is going to roll up on an R1

I ride the crest mostly during the week or on Sunday's. Since the crest has been kinda "hot" lately I have discovered the Sand canyon to Castaic route. Been twice and looking to go again 11/1 or 11/2.

That was a blast, next Saturday I have the last part of my MST course so I can get my damn liscense so won't be able to go.....

This morning around 6 am I saw some guy on a 250 2 stroke that was gonna go up, but then he was like it's gonna rain..

We got lucky not that many Cagers and not that many cops nice dry road.....:thumbup

anyone do the lil' tujunga ride?!?!? that's off osborne off the 210. Damn fine road. It ends at Sand Canyon on the 14. I try riding it on the weekdays, as the weekends are too busy. Haven't seen one CHP on that road (knocking on wood).

I think a group of us one time did that ride. It was Ronin, BRBJackson, myself and a few others and it was a blast. Ooops, wait..I think they called it Big T, but I just know that we started out at the 210 in Sunland and ended up in Castauic (I think that's how it's spelled?) or something. It was WAYYYYY north of me in South Orange County! However, it was pretty cool and a great ride. I do know we went by Lake Hughes. However, it was over 500 miles round trip...for me anyway.

I was going on Sunday, But not on the crest.
I start at the shell station,but then take the 210 w to sunland blvd. and go up big T to Forest to the tree just before Mount Emma Rd. and back short and sweet.
Anyway I'll be at the shell station about 9:30-10:00 tomarrow.

It was indeed sunny. However, the wind chill factor was pretty high. Moreover, the increased wind probably had something to do w/ the 38490025492354089540892354 pieces of rock on the road.

I've been gone a while. Det'd out to Arizona and Utah, but I am back now. Some of us are going to hook up tomorrow at the Mira Mesa dennys around 9am and head out from there. I'm going to check the road report to see what is open but we will probably hit telegraph canyon and maybe head up to Julian from there if its open. If anyone wants to go let me know or just show up at the dennys.

mkinla, We left about 10 minutes after 9. We turned off on Angeles Forest Hwy and went down to the road that takes you Sunland. It was so windy that it was blowing us off the road.

Sunday's are not good for me to ride. Once in a while I'm able to ride on Sunday's but it's not as often as I would like.

mxracer95: It might have been a South Bay group...not sure. Hard to keep up w/ all the small rides going on. I know that about two handfuls of people from Woodland/TO area went down to Pally this weekend. That, may have explained the lesser number of people going to the Crest....but then the windy conditions may have convinced people not to go out this past weekend.

Sorry I didn't show on Saturday. I set my alarm for 7:30. I walked outside and the wind was blowing like a mother. I checked online with the National Weather Service. It said winds of 15-30 mph with gust up to 40 in LaCanada. Plus, at the time, it was like 40 degrees. I checked the Forum to see if you guys had posted anything but found nothing. I decided not to venture out because I figured you guys probably wouldn't show up.

Anyway, I'll be out of town this weekend so I'll hook up with you next time.

I waited for the wind to ease up, but it never did. I finally geared up and headed out to the mountains above Malibu in the afternoon. It was windy as hell and all kinds of crap was on the road, but I managed to get a bit of decent riding in.

I will be there @ Shell, same time/place tommorrow. If it is sunny, I still recommend winter gloves.

It was good riding w/ you guys yesterday. That was one of the most refreshing rides that I've had in a good while.

Lack of LEOs, + good weather, + fairly zero road debris = GOOD!

I *really* need to get my suspension issue sorted out.

However, I'm not sure where I'm gonna go w/ that...as I'm thinkin' about getting a 2nd bike.

I'm not sure whether to make this R6 the weekend/track ride or keep it as the commuter... :confused:

Great ride today :jump .... nice finally meeting you Zippy. Weather was nice, roads were pretty clean, not many cops (especially the one that didn't see mkinla roll throught the stop sign). We even cruised over to Stunt road where Andy got killed. There's a little memorial on the side of the road where it happened. :(

Regarding Piuma: Yes, it'll be a good while before I get used to these roads while I contiue to work on my riding.

For some reason recorrecting my line mid-corner is really a bad habit that I NEED to drop. I made a mental note of that a couple of times when while we were on our way down the Crest, I really have to try not to apex so friggin' early.

I suppose I need to enter further from the outside portion of the lane then cut in (left handers), rather than enter from the inside. I'm sure you probably noticed that when you were riding behind me CMRRA13.

Speakin' of turns what did you guys think of one of the first left handers on Stunt after we met up w/ Jack and Marty(was that his name)? I think the pavement was fresh/dark. That was a very interesting left hand turn. Oh, and that 180 around the lookout/ dirt lot-pull off on Piuma was nice too. :eek:

Yes, that short interlude @ the memorial was a very humbling experience. :(

I have to agree with Zippy, some of those roads like Piuma are a bit more technical, and for myself, challenging in another way unlike the Crest, but definitely good to be exposed for the riding experience.

Did you guys see that Honda 250 leaving as we were arriving @ the Rock Store? How'd he get that thing on the road? I thought they weren't road legal. I'd like to try one of those! :jump

I'm going Friday night, but I'd be up for going Saturday with you guys as well. I've put my track bike back together, but I need to powerwash the mud off (and out of) it and then take it for a test ride before my track day on Sunday. The only time I have to do this is Saturday. Any Sunday rides?

Sundays seem to be more crowded for some reason. I can now understand why CMRRA13 prefers to go on Saturday. Saw a CHP, but he headed back onto 210. No LEOs while we were up there. Not too many riders up there today either.

However, while we were leaving we saw a MC LEO head up the Crest. Oof.

The bike I got is a CBR 600 great deal but the body work is fvcken GHETTO, but then again it's a track bike...

I won't be able to ride this weekend, but I plan on hopefully getting out for a couple of days next weekend (12/26 -12/28).
