in the mornings i when i first start my bike i let it warm up for a lil while, well when i first kick it into gear it turns off, kickstand is up and im holding the clutch in, it happens once and works perfectly fine the rest of the day. i'd say it happens 4 out of 5 times. it sounds odd to me but you guys have anything on this??

Sounds like it could be the clutch plates sticking together until you put it into gear.
If that's the case, it is probably normal.
Try pushing off with your right leg next time so that you can click into first gear while rolling and see what happens.

If it gives a good jerk before turning off, it could be the clutch plates like YZEtc says, but more likely its a bad switch....those things go bad and do that intermittently. If it was the switch, the bike would just turn off without jerking forward at all. Hope that helps.

No don't worry, it's probably the switch, locate it and give it a good blast of WD40 push it in and out a few times and see what happens....

Good luck.

It could be just as simple as your clutch cable is not adjusted properly. If you're adjusted too loose, you won't disengage the plates and the bike would stall when put in gear. With the bike off, put it in gear and pull the clutch in. Make sure the bike rolls freely. If it stops like it would when you don't have the clutch in, your cable probably is misadjusted.

:iamwithst Try disconnecting the kickstand switch @ the clutchlever (its 2 lil connectors on the front side of the lever-assembly)... :bandit thats probably the easiest way to tell whether its the switch or not... imo.:sneaky
