billryr8828 05-21-2002, 07:41 PM Well it is official, the AMA appeal board outlawed the R7/R1 hybrid that Buckmaster has been running but he will be allowed to keep his wins and his points acumalated thus far. Next Formula X-treme round will have to be on the new '02 R1 chassis. Hope it does not take them long to sort out the new chassis!
Olddog 05-22-2002, 09:34 PM I believe Graves knew this was coming. We talked for about 15 minutes at sears. He told me it was sour grapes, but then said the 02' R-1 frame was far along as their next bike and he thought as good as the R-7 frame once they got it adjusted out. At least they didn't take Bucky's points;)
Slider 05-30-2002, 06:56 PM it'll be interesting to see if the "new" R1 will be as dominate as Suzuki's GSX-R package.
Personally i don't think it was a fair showing of the new R1 anyways... as it wasn't a "true" R1.....
Olddog 05-30-2002, 07:46 PM Buckmaster would be in front on a Vespa:fact He's THAT dominant this year. I said early on that Suzuki would win because of #'s and depth of talent riding the Gixxers, but I think if Graves just gives him something CLOSE, that Buckmaster will hold off the unholy Suzuki warriors;) I agree with you about the R-1/7 hybred, it will truly be a better selling tool for Yamaha if it IS totally hotrodded R-1................ but have no doubt, Buckmaster would be leading this on a 954 if that's what he was on:ugh
Olddog 05-31-2002, 07:30 PM go to www,roadracingworld.com and there's a story. Bottom line................. yeah , it's ALL ( well, sort of ) R-1 now. It seems they may have hacked and wacked on the stock frame enough to bring into question the AMA's rule about % 50 of the origional frame being used. :lol That my friends, is big time, deep pockets AMA racing;)

Never count out the reigning open class champ and F-Xtreme champ ( GSX-R )
Olddog 06-01-2002, 12:50 PM It's that neat " attitude " you've got that makes me pull for Buckmaster all the more;) Hopkin's is gone GP racing, no? So where is your defending champ?
Morning practice times are many times suspension sortings etc. Don't make too much of them. Go back and look at My kids warm up and qualifying times in the Sears Point 250 event ( they are there ), and you'll see that a lot of it is fine tuning and more seat time at the track more than absolutely a predictor of who will win.Generally guys will be 1-2 seconds off the pace they will actually run.
Slider 06-01-2002, 02:43 PM LoL always up for a friendly debate... actually having this same one w/the R6 Messagenet boys too :lol
Good point though and totally true . Saturdays have always been a time of fine tuning both Suspension/gearing and tires.. Interesting point is, the guys that are traditionally fast early Sat are, as a general rule the guys that are up front in the race(unless of course there's a total weather change). This i'm all too familiar with from my racing days aboard Tz250's
As for Hopkins?? well let's say he'd be better off on a 4-banger instead of the old 2-Strokers overseas... and remember diffrent atmoshpere, tracks and race day routines etc etc..
Pridmore is busy w/World Endurance racing for QB Racing to totally concentrate on F-Xtreme ( a shame too as he anililated this class last year at this track ) and looked set to take over Hopkins place in the off-season (no not aboard Team Hammer) as a shoe in for the #1 plate.
The two guys impressing me are Spies aboard Attack's second bike and Fergusson aboard the Corona machine.. I mean where'd the hell these two kids come from??!!
Olddog 06-01-2002, 07:05 PM EXTREMELY talented kids. Watch for Jimmy Moore tomorrow in 750ss, he's a good friend ( looks out for Jonah too), and he seems pretty comfortable doing 56's there. He was off a little at Sears, so we are hoping he will bonce back.
It's KILLING us to be here TALKING about the racing. Even with only 4 outings on the 250 under his belt, jonah would run times about like Colin Jensen or Ed Sorbo , 57's, 58's, and have a chance for a decent top 10 spot. It sucks. I'm SURE we'll be at WSB, only because the team owner gets all the rooms and accomodations for the Aprilia WSB team, Coser and his crew last year, Haga this. I'm SURE the kid will run well there, even though he's never set a wheel on the track;)
Pridmore? Impressive on the World endurance stage, looks a little tenative this year at AMA's. Who can blame him? Spies will only get faster. He's a smart kid who doesn't make mistakes or fall off too often.
Last time I looked Bucky had provisional pole on top of the field of Buttugly, stonking fast Suzuki's. Not bad for a first effort with an entirely new chasis. What's your name, and where did you race? If you raced west coast, or even east I'd probably know at least your name............................ if you ever ran up front regionally, or raced at nationals. Le' me know;) And yeah, guys like Oliver and Sands are always quick right off. They've got tons of experience, and notebooks full of suspension, gearing and jetting solutions, along with a buttload of talent, to enable them to cut quick times from the get go. ;)
Slider 06-01-2002, 07:24 PM sorry mate me a Canuck :/ raced at Shannonville Motorsport Park mostly , DuMontage , Race City Calgary
Loudon (1x) and Mid-Ohio(2x)
Olddog 06-01-2002, 07:26 PM I just went to results and saw Pridmore won ( after I said he looked tentative................. well......... HE DID, just like Jimmy Moore has since Daytona, and he's a friend;) ) First time I've seen the Motor or drive train give up on the R-1. Seen LOTS of mechanicals with the Zuki's ( gearbox mainly ), but to have a motor failure really hurts Bucky's cause. Congrats to Jimmy tho, it will be a great win for his confidence, and now he's right back in it;)
Olddog 06-01-2002, 07:29 PM IMO anybody that rraces on those goat trails you guys call racetracks, deserves respect;) You guys must cart your balls around in wheelbarrows, eh?
Slider 06-01-2002, 07:30 PM so true bro' , so true...
