I have my first track day at Gateway/St. Louis on June 1. I am planning on taking my 02' R1 with the factory D208's. Has anybody had them on the track yet?? I have done some very aggressive corning on the street, and they seem to stick well and slide predictably. Also, I have made several attempts to touch my knee sliders down on exit ramps, and can't get it. I feel like I am getting maximum lean angle, and the front tire shows hot rubber beads all the way down to the crown/sidewall of the shoulder. Any suggestions??

My avatar was just taken last weekend at Willow Springs raceway. I posted this same question because I heard that 208's arent that good. Well I think they rock. Very stable at speed, great feedback and grip. I also got major hot rubber beads all way to the edge front and back. Never once did they slide(except on turn 4 during a hot downshift). Beat the shit out of them then buy the 010's or Pilots 180/55. Thats what Im gonna do. By the way this was my first track day. Dont worry about kneedraggin. Alot of that is dependant upon body positioning, suspension, tires, etc.. And make sure your tire pressure is about 30-32 lbs. For what its worth.:thumbup

I just got home about 30 minutes ago from a trackday at Putnam Park. The R1 performed bueatifully. The only problem I have consistently is ground clearance. The stock pegs are too low. I grind and grind and grind and ruined a boot today...all the way thru the toe slider and put a hole in tthe boot. I got about 57-60 laps in. Great Practice. Anyone else got any times from Putnam. I did a 1:20 that was my best. Michelin Pilot Race tires were unbelievable. Need Rearsets anyone got them email me at njlamber@insightbb.com
Thanks,
Nate
oh yeah by the way..no problem knee sliding...I usually go thru a pair per track day...had brand new ones on today and they need replaced...this is an expensive hobby!!! :yesnod
