New to an R1 in Sydney

Hey, I just thought I would say a hello in here and introduce myself. As I said I am new on my R1 and just moved to Sydney. I was just curious what is the deal with the Tyre Fryers? I have already been introduced to BGS and was wondering if there were many other regulars on here in the Sydney area? Have added a pic of my new toy for all to see!

I'm in Wollongong. Been on the forum a long time, but don't post much. Been riding an R1 since early 99. If your heading south for a run up the Pass (if you ain't done the Pass you should -ASAP!) let me know. I can even arrange for a gixxer of two to come along for us to play with. Cheers BG Sindikat, but im not all that excited bout riding from WA 2 Sydney just to swap burnout stories. Anyway i'm gonna try and trade the 98 R1 next week and put a deposit on a red 2004..... see how much they'll give me 4 it

Be interesting to see how much they offer you. I'm gonna hang for a while till all the bike are out on the market and then test ride them all and then make my decision. Yeah sorry about the last message it wasnt until i sent it off that i realised that you were from perth! DOH!!!!

Hey twodogs... I did the pass a few years ago and had a ball! Would definately be interested in going again but agree.... not till next year..... too many.... unwanted elements! :thumbup R102ralph, would definately be up for a bit of a ride. I am hoping to get my R back today after blowing a regulator! Damn :mad: I was thinking of going for a bit of a ride this Sat if anyone is interested. Dont really have any idea where I want to head... but they are usually the best ones! lol

P.S. I am dropping off the Mrs at work at 9:00 and will be on the bike no later than 9:30...... maybe just a ride.... stop for a few beers..... then another ride? Come on BG..... busy on Sat?

to cut a long story short i was going home around 100kph (legal) and when i came round the bend i saw a car stopped wanting to pull onto the road. he wasnt moving so i thoguht he had seen me, then right at the last minute he pulled out, i almost managed to dodge him but i caught the front of his car. Ended up in a dried up river bed with many many injuries. needles to say bike was *****ed up, and then the prick did a runner. as far as i know they are still looking for him. now i am in switzerland on a holiday after my bones mended.

How wrong! :mad: So if you are all mended up... I guess it was a little while ago? and they still havent caught him! Sorry to hear that. So no plans at this stage for a replacement?

i am currently looking at getting myself an R6. trying to get into superstock racing. well i haven't heard from anyone so i am assuming they aint caught 'em. they well could have for all i know, i have been here for almost 2months. it happened the weekend before Phillip island GP

Y-try, about that ride you were planning this saturday, you still keen? Just checked the weather at www.bom.gov.au and it looks like showers in the morning and evening. Just walked in from a night out (2:30am) and i couldnt see any stars out....so hopefully the rain will hold off. bad timing BGS. I didnt get back on here.... I did ended up heading up the old pac hwy and was a good ride. I took it fairly easy... maybe because I had a cop following me for ages in a 60 zone! I never realised how slow 60 is going around thos ebends! lol. But had a great time anyway! next time.... for sure!

Hey fellas. i finally got a chance to get a day off work and go round to all the dealers. i ended up setteling on $9200 for the 98 r1 which i'm stoked bout cos thats what i payed for it and since then it has aged bout a year, done 20,000k's and been backed into in a car park :( which cracked the nose and put a few scratches on it. We agreed on a $10,500 trade up assuming the 04 will be 19,700 on road. now i just can't wait til march.

Awsome news Hoota2, cant wait to see it out and about. damn....having to wait 3 months! I dont know if I could do it! So which color did you end up choosing?

i got the red... the aussie release silver is pretty gay, just looks wrong. i like the american silver though. It doesn't really bother me not riding 4 a few months at the moment, i only get 1 day off every 2 weeks so i don't much time to ride properly anyway

Hoota, you got an awesome price for the bike!!! i think the market is different here in syd.....if i wanted to trade in im looking at the $7.8k mark :( NOT HAPPY JAN!!!! That's why i've decided to hold on to my bike and pour money into the thing to get it looking slick. I think Feb is the time for a full Akra exhaust. Wanna make up some Alum. cover plates for where the mirrors used to be. Makes the bike look like a pit bull with it's ears clipped. Cousin is also gonna get me a rear vid camera put o nthe bike so i dont have to keep turning around to check if the cops are on my six. Well they're my plans for the new year anyway. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!!! BGS.

I agree... the USA silver looks heaps better.... but I think I would still choose the aussie silver if getting one over red and blue. I think mainly for a change from red. :) Good luck with it!

OMG!!! who cares what colour.... i would ALWAYS get the new '04 model repainted.. GO ALL BLACK!! with thr black frame and new styling i reckon it would look super tough!!! just my 2dollars. (my 2 cents is worth more now that i am King Postalot) :D
