I purchased the (pictured) fender kit from www.cyclemall.net Kit includes Fender Eliminator Bracket and Lockhart Phillips Short Stalk III with irridium lens'. Everything you need to get rid of the stock mud flap. ***These blinkers are not running lights and blinkers, they are ONLY blinkers***

My personal opinion! Great Kit. Took me about 1 hour to install (I really took my time. Also, This the the first bike I have started to do upgrades to. So I am a total beginner)

I don't work for Cyclemall (they are in California I am in Washington) nor do I have much experience in fender eliminator kits. I just want to give fellow R1 riders a consumers opinion. (That is one reason why I come to this FORUM) This KIT worked out great. Only one complaint! There is about a 1mm gap between the fender kit and the under tail. This is due to the stock bolt hardware being set up to mount that thick plastic mudflap. This is a super easy fix. I took 2 sticky foam pieces and placed the sticky side down on the bracket and tightened it up to the undertail. This squeezed the foam between the bracket and undertail and "softly" took up the slack. Even if you don't take up the slack I don't think you or anyone else would ever notice unless you grabbed your plate and wiggled it slightly. But overall I was extremely pleased with this product. Not only does it look good but it is CHEAP! My kit cost $65.00 with the blinkers. If you are looking to get rid of that MudFlap and don't want to pay $100.00 Plus dollars for a Eliminator Kit.... I would honestly say give www.cyclemall.net a try.

Also, I dealt with a guy named "JOE" he was super helpful and extremely polite.... and..... they shipped it out on tuesday I received it thursday! (Cali to Washington)

This is what the underside of the kit looks like. I will look to buy some kind of housing to better protect and conceal the wiring from the Lockhart Phillips Short Stalk III blinkers !!!! But you can see how clean it looks!!!

I have the kit also and I'm very pleased. The only thing I would have preferred were short stalk fives instead of the fours the kit comes with. I'm not really into that iridium look.

Look at the picture # 3 the quality of this thing looks bad! I wouldnt want all that extra metal on my bike! Take a look at the picture here and see how our kit bolts up (clean)! This kit has the optional LED light tab. I am working on price as well I could or lets say beat the price of $65 with blinkers in the next week or so. If you want a kit with no blinkers I can match the price he paid for that one! Thanks!

The kit looks nice, but I don't like the new generation of short stalk lights. The previous model/gen. II's look the best in my opinion.

The new ones are just too round/oval looking.

Hey guys why y'all spendin all that money on those kits? I got one of pegdrgr's kits for $30 (includes wiring kit and shipping) and then I bought some ss IV's at the dealer for $20. His bracket is anodized black and comes with a set of washers which take up that 1 mm gap mentioned above. The instructions are great. Took me about an hour to get it installed. I could have saved even more if I would have bought the blinkers on-line. I was just psyched that a guy would take his own time to make these at a great cost for everybody on this forum.

hi guys those 1mm gaps that your talking about d'ont
need washes to get rid of em.just take the washes out
of the tail compartment and cut them down alittle thats what i did and now mine fits tight to the tail.

TS02R1,
where in the heck did you find that on their site? I looked all over and couldn't find it.

JVWGUY...I saw your kit (with blinkers) selling for around $100 and that was more than I was willing to spend. Then you charge $50 for an LED light which makes your kit more expensive than CompetitionWerkes' kit. High prices for fender kits aren't justified because they aren't noticeable. You wouldn't be able to tell one from the other once the plate is one unless you really tried. I think such kits aren't worth more than $30 dollars (with blinkers). I spent the $65 on the Cyclemall kit because it was the cheapest out there and also, one thing I was looking for in a fender kit was the ability to bend my plate angle easily without taking the whole kit off or bending the plate itself. The Cyclemall kit allows me to do that and is more secure in my opinion because it supports the whole plate, not just a portion of the top.

JVWGUY
06-03-2002, 06:26 AM
Well, I now sale the kits for $70 with blinkers and the LED light NO one else can do! Mine is just as secure because I use all factory brackets! So see $70 for bracket and blinkers plus $50 for the LED light eqauls $120 shipped and if you pay that much for a R1 then you should only buy top quality parts for it! Competion Werkes kit cost like $149 NO LIGHT! Cylemall is like $65 plus shipping NO LIGHT! (big metal)(ours is $70 shipped)and all the others out there look like crap! So no matter what we are the best PRICE, QUALITY, AND OVERALL LOOKS! If anyone can do better please do. Thanks

I'm not trying to flame you, but anyone willing to spend top dollar on a fender kit is a fool with money. Buying top quality is wise when purchasing exhausts, brake kits, sproket kits, tires, etc. because they enhance the bikes performance. But fender kits ? C'mon :lol. What a sales pitch :lol.

You make a great product and it probably is the best out there, but I've worked in investment banks my whole career. The last thing I need is to be given financial advice :lol. The fact that you've significantly reduced your price only supports my opinion that these fender kits are overpriced.

Also, the CW does come with a plate light and Libertek offers lights and LEDs like your own that screw into the existing holes of the plate, but neither offer your combination at what is now a decent price.

Well sales pitch and investing have nothing in common! So if you built a new home and the contractor said "HEY DONT WORRY ABOUT THE FOUNDATION YOU CANT SEE IT AND WE COULD SAVE YOU ALOT OF MONEY HERE!" Now would you take a cheap foundation? These kits are not over priced it is just the fact that some people have to pay for equipment that makes these things! You can take a peice of metal from Home Depot and make something! The key is you pay a little extra and get something worth having! No the fender kit is not a performance part but c'mon is a tinted screen performace? You would pay $70 for that QUICKLY! and what tank bras and second look seats? PRICEY! you would pay for that to and speeking of pipes($500 for 2 to 5 hp) now thats PRICEY but we pay for what looks good and performance comes second to most people! I dont mean to rag on you I just feel if you are not making the kits and you know nothing about what it takes to make one then how can you judge what is to much? Thanks for your comments and thats what the forum is for! Now for the guys who would like to get a QUALITY kit, and not a peice of SHIT! LOL visit us at

! I dont mean to rag on you I just feel if you are not making the kits and you know nothing about what it takes to make one then how can you judge what is to much?
That's true. I'll give you that one :iamwithst. Maybe I'm just a disgruntled CW kit owner (for my F4i) :lol. Now the foundation comparison is a stretch :lol.

Like I said, your kit looks like the best I've seen (from pics). The only thing I would change on your kit is the plate mount. I'd prefer support for the entire plate, not just the top two bolts. That's one of the reasons I went with the Cyclemall kit.

Perhaps with my previous post I should have included "visual enhancement" which all of the other products you mentioned provide, but most fender kits look the same to me once the plate is on.

JVWGUY
06-03-2002, 08:28 AM
Cool! I can see what you mean by the 4 hole thing but thats what makes the kit different and the plate doesnt weigh enough to need all that extra metal! Thanks for the comments, this forum is really nice! I hope the other guys speak up and give us here at ELIMINATORS there opinion! IT HELPS!

P.S.
THE FOUNDATION THING WAS OUT THERE A?:rock

tatechesley,

Go to www.cyclemall.net then click on the YAMAHA Icon on the lower left side. Then choose 2002 R1. It's the 3rd product down. If you don't have an 02 R1 then you might have to give them a call at : 866.CYCLEMALL (292.5362)

NY2NJ,

I would have to agree with you. We aren't talking about a major performance piece here. We are talking about a piece of metal that holds blinkers and your license plate. On the Cyclemall.net's kit the only way you see any portion of the metal bracket is if you look under the tail. The little extra weight from cyclemall's kit isn't going to be the difference between 1st and 2nd place. But the cash I save is going to help fill my belly when the day is done. That LED light is available for $49.00 through http://www.libertek.com/Products_price_list.htm So it's actually a better deal to order from Libertek directly if you really wanna save a buck. But again, bottom line is this: If you wanna spend more money on a piece of metal that holds blinkers and a license plate then by all means... go ahead. When it comes to Eliminator Kits I am searching for the cheapest price.

My .02 cents ! :thumbup

You guys are crazy penny pinchers! I can sale a full kit with blinkers shipped for $70 thats the same price as cyclemall! (after shpping) The led light you can order from libertek BUT YOU PAY SHIPPING FROM CANADA! NOW LETS SAY YOU WANNA KIT FOR THE CHEAPEST PRICE WELL THE MORE YOU GUYS ORDER FROM ME THE BETTER THE PRICE WILL GET!!!!! Now what if I said the next 10 people who ordered a standard kit with no blinkers(because it looks like the guys in this forum seem to be able to buy LED and Blinkers for much less than me!;) )(NOPE)(BLINKERS COST YOU $15 AND LED$49 PLUS SHIPPING= $60) for $35 plus shipping! Now beat that! I will loose a few bucks but I will also win the respect! I hope someone can beat that, becuase if so I will just get out of the game! Thanks

No one said anything about getting blinkers cheaper. I think most people would prefer to do one stop shopping, Kit and Blinkers. Your $35.00 deal sounds good but then we would have to go out and get the blinkers too. I just went to www.cyclemall.net and got the package deal for $65.00. Cyclemall has had good prices from the start. They didn't start at $95.00 bucks and then lower there price to meet competition. They just beat the competition out from the get go! Lots of guys have bought from them so they are established. If you weren't over charging in the beginning then maybe you would be established! Now it's time to play catch up. Good Luck !

I am through with theis discusion! Wasting time here!~ Go to google and type in R1 Forum look to the far right and click on that link! ($105) and Competion Werkes for like ($150) Now I started the price based on these guys! I feel for everyone who wants to save a buck but if you cant shop 2 places and save $10-$35 then thats your problem! Well the main thing is I am not playing catch up I have sold 1123 kits in the past 3 weeks! Now I dont mean to be rude but please if you are just going to try and rag on someone every post go somewhere else! I am just trying to make a LITTLE cash and give the guys here what they want! GOOD INEXPENSIVE (NOT CHEAP AS YOU SAY!) PRODUCT AND IF CUTTING PRICES IS THE WAY TO IT THEN SO BE IT! I love the R1 and its owners (even you) :crash so lets use the site for something else besides debate on $1-$5 savings. I know to some that is allot but, lets be nice and chill! Thanks for your opinion! Good day!:thumbup

I wasn't trying to rag on your product. In fact, I've repeatedly mentioned that it is probably the best-looking one I've seen overall. I'm self-employed also and my motto is "make the most you can NOW". I'm not trying to kill anyone's business.

The one thing I would recommend is that you not continue to lower your prices. It only makes the quality of the product questionable and those who have already purchased the kit at the original price will not be happy campers. If your product is truly superior to the other kits out there, the higher price is justified. You won't have to offer group buys or sling mud on your competitors to sell. Good luck.

JVWGUY,

Forums are usually a gathering point for opinions. Originially I did my "Honest Review" about cyclemall.net's eliminator kit an that was it. No where did I mention any other kit. When I get something for my bike I like to come on here and give my honest review for others to see. I'm not going to say that something is great if it isn't. (LIKE RKRAFTY1 did with his LP IV flushmount blinkers, I was pissed after I ordered them and they didn't fit right, everything was wrong about them and he wrote all sorts of good stuff about them)

Now you started writing your opinion about the product you sell in this thread. ny2nj then stated his own opinion about how he feels about eliminator kits. Then I too added some very broad ideas to think about when purchasing an eliminator kit. Example It's a piece of metal that holds a license plate and blinkers, not a performance piece. Blah blah blah blah blah.

Anyhow, the point being is that no one is flaming here we are all expessing our opinions. Here is your review after my personal experience with ordering a kit from you.

I would be doing a review of your kit if you would of had it when I went to order it. But first your machine broke, then you wanted to wait for more orders so you could ship all at once. Then the blinkers were on backorder. I will say though that you were very quick to return emails (every email I have saved) and you were always geniunely polite. But, unfortunetly I never received a product from you after I did order. You did send a refund it just took 6 days for it to post (because of the holiday weekend).

Overall, I "FEEL" that your product is probably a little better than that of cyclemall.net. Well, it looks better because of all the highspeed detailing. And that will be a decision that consumers will have to make. They will have to look at all products and decide if spending more money is important or getting a less expensive product is more important. Perhaps the look is what's more important or they don't care because it only holds a license plate and blinkers. In all due time, the fine R1 folks will make there decisions. But in the meantime there are going to be places for us to express our opinions about anything we want!

Sandman, JVWGUY is right. That upper censored is a reflection of my plate. Sorry, I know you were hoping it was a reflection of my man boobies, huh? :lol :lol :lol

JVWGUY
06-04-2002, 11:31 AM
Well sorry your order did not go through, but @#* happens! I know that is a place for opinion and thats good, but to debate price when it is the same price from both places???????????????? I dont know? I hope that I dont sound like a jerk in here I AM NOT! I must also give my view! I just feel that some people want everything for nothing. Even though the kit is not a performance part it should still be a good quality part (THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENTS GUYS ON OUR KITS). All in all this has been a good session and very fun, but bottom line our kit is the best for the best price!

Now how many people would be interested in a side mount plate?:crash
I am thinking of making some but want your rough and honest opinions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:machinegu

T0DD
06-04-2002, 11:45 AM
Personally I like to have everything in it's own little place. The side mount license plate definitely does not look like it's where it needs to be. You would think that if you got up past 140mph that it would bend backwards or something. The creativity is there. Definitely not normal. Maybe for show bikes or something. But I don't think the everyday rider would really care for the look of it. But who knows?

I'm gonna hook mine up for $0 by using my dremel, some brackets that came with my car stereo but I didn't need and some wire connectors again from the same stereo but weren't needed.

Your kit does look good but after dropping 10grand on the bike and having a baby on the way....I ain't gots no muny for a $100 kit.

Am I stupid or are the LED turnsignal lights not on that Libertek page? Are you sure they sell the exact same LEDs as JVWGUY?

Has anyone ordered from JVWGUY yet? Was he timely in delivery?

moreccsplease,

They are not LED Turnsignals. It is a LED light that shines on your License plate. One stinkin' little light that costs $49.00. It's expensive and I don't think I will be buying one anytime soon.

To answer your question about ordering from JVWGUY:
Yes, I did place a order with him after 2 weeks and 3 excuses I cancelled my order through him.(I saved all emails to support my experience) He refunded my money and it took 6 days for me to receive my refund. (I PAID him in full through PayPal instantly) That is MY PERSONAL experience in a nut shell. I am not FLAMING him I am just speaking the GOD HONEST truth. This was MY experience but does not mean it would be everyones experience. He is a really nice guy and was quick to answer all my Emails. But I didn't want to wait any longer for the kit to be shipped.

On another note I ordered from www.cyclemall.net on a tuesday and received my kit on a thursday! The very first post in this THREAD was my review of that experience!

Good luck!

Heres another alternative to the rear fender, carbon fiber bracket from Dynomite in the UK, ship worldwide, and uses stock indicators, plus has license plate light, I didn't put the plate light on yet, but screws into the round threaded insert. Also has molded in fasteners.

We only ship to the billing address that is on file with your credit card. Since your are not within the US, International Address Verification Systems are not available. Therefor, without being able to verify your address information, we cannot ship internationally.

I'm glad that you were able to get the parts that you needed from someone.....
