Hey twisted logic and others,
Rumor has it that you poured some new oil in your two wheeled stallion and it quieted down the ol' R-1 valve clicking. Is this true or just some kind of mental trick we play with ourselfs to believe we have done some well to our machines. I'm sporting the Yamalube semi-syn right now and have some valve noise. Are you using that Castrol superbike oil you refer to in that hightemp R-1 thread?

I used the Yamalube and found that the ticking was louder. I switched to Silkolene synthetic and it was much quieter. Just my 2 cents.

I have heard nothing but good things about Silkolene but the Castrol is easier for me to get my hands on so I went with it.

Your valves are ticking because they were set fat from the factory. Yes I could see someone using synthetic noticing less tick you could also try a semi to see if there is a change
