question for you... past the couple hundred buck mark, doesnt your $$ go towards craftsmanship, handle inlays, etc? You're probably gonna shoot just as well with a basic quality wood stick as a really expensive one right? the shaft can only get so straight?

well.. deffinatly.. but only when the stick itself is the same... you would play different with an all ebony cue.. the hit would be stiffer, then you have all the different types of joints.. ivory being the most expensive.. different materials mean alot.. then after that.. what the inlay is made of is only the added extras.. some cue makers, their plainest cue could be like $1,100.. thats a very basic one.. depending on what wood is used.. then like you mentioned, the shaft.. there are may different things that can make a shaft different.. , like how it is cut, how long it was cured and how long it sat.. some cue makers let their shaft blanks sit for 10 years before they use them.. depends on the grain of the wood and many other things.. also they make shafts all different ways now.. like a company called predator where they splice 6 pieces of wood togther like a pie making for a very stiff hit and eliminating defection.. meucci's new design calles for a laminated pieces of wood where they are like layered on top of each other.. like i said.. it could get complicated..
