Where to get D208's cheap?? Cmon Cyclemall, get some tiresred900 06-03-2002, 07:39 AM Where can i get D208's for my 02 cheapest??? R1ZOOM 06-03-2002, 07:57 AM www.discountmotorcycletire.com
And I wouldn't put those piece of shit D208's that came with it back on there. Try the D207RR. Much better tire. red900 06-03-2002, 08:20 AM Thanks for the Link, that place seems good. What is so bad about the 208's, I thought they were quite sticky and gave decent feedback, Wore out quick though. R1ZOOM 06-03-2002, 08:29 AM I agree the feedback is good from them, but they are a very low quality sport bike tire, almost along the line of sport-touring. I spoke to Dunlop directly about them. Check out this thread.

:fact Swedie 06-03-2002, 08:49 AM Argh! hell! they don't ship overseas!

I can't afford 10 pairs of tires..
I got a pair of BT012's coming in.. but they are not here yet and the weather is just too damn good ! argh kreationzx 06-03-2002, 11:04 PM You will really enjoy the BT012's.. i had the BT01s on my 929 and they were awesome for a street tire. so im assuming the Bt012s are even better.. Much more stickier than the D207s and Pilot Sports... and they are decently quick in warming up. Droog 06-03-2002, 11:27 PM Go with the 010's for the street, loads better than any street tire Dunlops makes. As for the 012's, never tried 'em, but I heard they weren't as good as the 010's for what they were designed for. juttsr1 06-04-2002, 12:06 AM hey everyone. i have a brand new d208 that came off my 2002 that im looking to get rid of. its a 190 width. i bought a 200 to put on the bike. The tire has 50 miles on it. not even broken in yet. if anyone wants it, email me at Juttsin@yahoo.com and make me an offer. Droog 06-04-2002, 12:11 AM Why on Gods green earth did you buy a 200 for a performance bike? Go to a 180 if anything but a 200 will really downgrade your handling F1_Champ 06-04-2002, 07:52 AM I'll sell you mine for cheap :D
only 1500km on it. Jin Ba Itai 06-08-2002, 10:28 AM If you like Sportec-M1, http://www.parts411.com/ is having a super deal on those tires.
If you like BT012 or other tires. http://www.swmototires.com/ is the place to save some money. kreationzx 06-10-2002, 04:06 AM Cal: totally agree with what you said.....as i do the same thing with these tires during each months race weekend..... but i think he was referring to the D208 (OEM on the 02 R1s) these were not D208GPs.. =) and from what i hear are not available anywhere except straight off OEM bikes... at least for now. NY2NJ 06-10-2002, 11:10 AM Jin Ba Itai...Where can I get a good deal on a set of Michelin Pilots? VTL1180ny 06-10-2002, 12:27 PM Want to buy mine? They have a little over 400 miles on them... If you like them that's great, but I don't... R1ZOOM 06-10-2002, 01:24 PM CALSPORTBIKE I was talking about the OEM stock D208L's, not the D208GP. And actually, the OEM tires would probably be really good on a sport tourer. They stick fairly well when you consider how much force that R1 rear wheel is putting on them. Also, mine wore very evenly. I just wouldn't PAY for another set of them. I think Yamaha should have put a stickier tire on the bike stock, but that's Yamaha's choice. I'm sure they got a helluva deal from Dunlop on them! Thanks for your explanation of the D208GP though. I do too much street riding to buy a pair of those, that's why I chose the D207RR.:thumbup Maverick 06-10-2002, 01:25 PM Hey Cal!
Your right about the 208GP being a great track tire. I just burned up a set and loved every minute of it:yesnod However; the 208 that came stock on my 02 was clearly not the same tire as a gp, and was meant for street riding.:fact
I personally don't understand all the bad vibes around here regarding the street 208. I've found it to be a very competent tire. I just wouldn't take it to the track. Maverick 06-10-2002, 01:27 PM didn't see the rest of the replies:eek: kreationzx 06-10-2002, 03:52 PM Has anyone experienced a more "stable 02 r1" with Bridgestones on compared to D208GPs because of the angle of the 208GPs being more aggressive.??
Im still experienceing a pretty twitchy R1... even with a Scotts Damper on it... Jin Ba Itai 06-10-2002, 05:38 PM Originally posted by ny2nj

Sorry get back to you so late. I didn't see this thread. The best price I see so far on Pilot sport may be this link http://www.discountmotorcycletire.com/tpspecials.html?mgiToken=2EIJ5E76N4E1UKK2DQI/
I have never buy anything from them. I did brought a set of pilot sport from http://www.tireexpress.com/acb/showprod.cfm?&DID=7&CATID=18&ObjectGroup_ID=162/ but their raised their price Jin Ba Itai 06-10-2002, 06:21 PM Originally posted by kreationzx

It is the profile of the D208L OEM tires. The front is very sensitive to freeway grooves. As the 02R1 goes, I found it too stable, too solid and a bit on the slow turn in compares to my 99R1 where I dropped 10mm up front and raised the Ohlins to maximum height. The 208GP has similar profile as the D208L. For your preference, I would think Bridgestones may suit you more. kreationzx 06-10-2002, 07:58 PM Thanks for the input... the instablility of the 02 R1 is pretty much the ONLY flaw i feel about the bike ... but its been a major issue for me... if the bike doesnt bring you confidence riding it, then no matter how good of a bike it is you wont be able to ride it like it wants to be... for thats Palomar and a few track days (no racing the new baby ... at least not for awhile). emausa1 06-11-2002, 02:02 AM Originally posted by Jin Ba Itai
