Petrol_Spice 01-14-2004, 06:36 PM Blokes,
I have a little funny idea for all of you. It seems that reading another thread that the "Rider in Melbourne" thread got shitcanned for whoring. What say you that in our sigs we put a tag to this forum so that Australian riders know to come here? That way we can do what we like and noone need bother us. If you look at it this way, the more Australian riders that show up the better and the more that know about this area the better.
Still there is to be no NWS stuff posted here and besides the fact that **** language is already banned. If you follow the rules the section should rock for Aussie riders.
Also I think that the "Don't Flame" rule should stand.
Lets make this forum rock shall we. It doesn't get the traffic it deserves..

they are basically the same but translogic didnt have them when i got my techtronics. the sensor rod for the techtronics in my opinion is constructed better. you can compare them both next time you see me as my gear display unit uses the translogic one, so in other words i have both. and by the way my $5700 rims are now paid for and should be here late next week hopefully. god i love being single.

petrol, the unit is triggered by a pressure sensitive shift rod that replaces the stock one and electronically cuts pulse to the ignition to allow full throttle clutchless upshifts without damaging the gearbox while at the same time shifting quicker than a humun using the clutch ever could. it saves 6-8 feet per gearchange and makes a r1 gearbox silky smooth. of all the mods i have (and i have numerous :sneaky ) the electric quickshift is my favorite.:yesnod

depends if you want it with a plug in loom ,or a you hard wire it into your loom! i have the plug in loom (no cutting required). with our dollar stronger it would be a good time to buy. i think it is 333 pounds sterling. a lot of money yes but :boobies are cheap down here so i save on them.

hehe, aiight...sorry bout that. ok?
well, firestarter is actually a direct translation from a slang used in cantonese(chinese) which is probably the same as the english term "pouring oil onto the fire" ....... fueling an argument i guess it would mean. either that or trying to set someones house and pants on fire:lol
by the way, i'm riding an 02 and have been doing only clutchless changes from 1st to 2nd to 3rd gear as i find this eliminates the problem of a bad gear change which most ppl experience once in awhile from 1st to 2nd. what can that electric gear shift do for that?
cheers mate

skyjo 01-21-2004, 03:33 AM care to define "save the gear box" in more depth? cause since i started clutchless shifting, there has been no crunching, missed shifting, or jumping of gears. interested to know, than maybe i can save for one if it's worth the money
Ozzy_R1_demon 01-21-2004, 04:49 AM Just curious Eujinn...why do you feel is necessary to have to change gears without the clutch when youre riding??
I mean I know alot of guys do it at trackdays/racing etc(myself included),but personally on the normal roads I dont think its that important-that extra split second it takes to use the clutch to save it, and my gearbox:fact
Anyways,thats just me:D

OK i do first up some guy says no one from NSW im thinkin F*%k yourself too but later some one says it means NWS ok that problem solved im ok with a typo then its like everyone wants to pay out on every one and then DANIEL R1 hope i spelt it right mate i take offence to your picture saying about the less fortunate people in the world (the retard and special olympic"s) come on thats a bit low . People in here could have relations like that they get enough of a hard time in the real world on a day to day basis from others snickering under their breathe about there looks.walking, talking well you know what i mean so surely we could keep things like that out of a forum if not could some one say so now as i wont be back into the OZ section again
Yes i had a relative who had dementure and was a "retard" so this hit a little close to home i dont want to argue on the subject just think even as a joke it was below the belt
So please think before anything like that is posted again other wise keep it safe
I"ll go and check others topics out now

jjjr6 01-21-2004, 03:28 PM First up, Yammie, it was a joke. I have a very close friend who’s daughter has serible paulsy (if that’s how you spell it) and another friend who’s daughter has Rett Syndrome that may be contsrewed by people as a form of being spastic. I know Dan personally, and so do the majority of the people on this board, and he has nothing against people with a disability, except those who can’t take a joke. :lol (that was another joke dude) And as for your NSW/NWS comment, who cares? Not even the NSW people cared. You’ve been here 5 minutes and you’ve already said what terrible people we are. You don’t even know us, and with comments like yours, I’m not sure we want to get to know you. I reckon you’re a bit high strung. Maybe you didn’t like the comment, simple, don’t post and if you see fit, don’t come back to this thread. Otherwise, relax, get to know people and don’t bring your flaming here! :rant end rant
Pete, it doesn’t actually hurt the gearbox or clutch to shift up through the gears without the clutch. The gearboxes in our bikes are dogboxes, and are designed to be able to take it. So you won’t pop a gearbox by doing that. I don’t use the clutch when changing up except from 1st to 2nd. But some people do, some people don’t. You should always use the clutch when changing down the gears though. If you don’t, then it places undue stress on the clutch as the engine revs try to match the wheel speed. And it also places stress on the dog gears because you will be forcing the shifter because you are in a gear and there is still pressure on that gear. I wrote a whole essay thing on this having an argument with some d!ck in the technical forum, so if you want go in there have a look for a gear changes w/o clutch thread.
Morning to everyone else, another kind of lovely day in Melbourne. :lol :lol

well if anyone watches part of the Targa Tasmania on T.V. catch up with you all during the day:thumbup
yammie 01-21-2004, 03:58 PM jjjr6 look what i wrote i realised it was a "typo" but look at it this way 1st time in and its the first post that people read maybe someone gets off there ass and deletes the posts ????
And even "dogbox"s" are sposed to be changed with the clutch there is no arguement with this go and read your owners manual it says there you can go and even ask a truck mechanic they have dogbox"s in most and they"ll tell you the same use the clutch by not useing they clutch in your bike you wear your selector fork
its a personal thing to use or not to use i only use my clutch from 1st to 2nd unless raceing the its all cluthless shifts you can also down shift by bliping the throttle to match revs with road speed for a smooth cluthless down shift
jjjr6 01-21-2004, 04:12 PM yes but as i wrote in the other thread where i had this arguement with the other guy, you may not blip the throttle to the right revs when you don't use the clutch, therfore screwing up the bike's stablilty under brakes, and wearing out the clutch and the dog gears. When you use the clutch, you take unnecassary stress off it and have a better chance of matching the revs to the wheel speed. Yamaha says that in their owners manual to save their arse in warranty claims. Look at v8 supercars, which also have dogboxes in them. Do they use the clutch when they change up? no. do they use the clutch when they change down? yes. exactly the same principles apply. "i only use my clutch from 1st to 2nd" is what i mentioned before. I also have a friend in Adelaide who has a Chalak dogbox in their WRX, which I have driven. Same priniples apply in that too. The exception with that car is it has launch control so the clutch is used when changin up, only to cut the pulse to the ignition so flat changes are possible without overrevving the engine. (rev limiter has been raised) otherwise for street driving, no clutch is used for changing up.
Use some punctuation also, i don't know where your sentences start and end. And it is dogboxes, not dogbox's. What do the dogboxes own that makes an apostrophe necassary? :lol (that was a joke dude, at your expense, but a joke none the less)
4NIKTOR 01-21-2004, 04:29 PM :corn :beer
hmmmm i think this popcorn needs a little more butter:p:p
yammie 01-21-2004, 04:31 PM Thats correct about the V8 supercars with there gearboxes but do you know how often they get rebuilt ???
Its like after every race meeting some drivers go thru 2 or 3 gearbox per week end.So it can"t be to healthy not useing the clutch,it all comes down to how easy you are on the box its self
jjjr6 01-21-2004, 04:39 PM that is actually incorrect. They do not get rebuilt and they do not go through gearboxes. How often do you see a driver pull out of a race due to the gearbox? Never. And I'll tell you why - they all use Hollingers, Hollingers are bulletproof. They have a lifetime warranty. If a Hollinger breaks they replace all the dog gears free of charge. If you were using a $15,000 gearbox and you broke 3 in a weekend, you would be looking a the way you drove it! Mark Noske broke 1 of only 2 that I know have ever broken at Calder Park in a test and he farked it good 'cause he can't drive. I guarantee you no driver breaks 3 a weekend. Most teams have 3 for a 2 car team, and none of them ever break. And it has been this way for almost 10 years, since the inception of the category. I am 100% confident if you emailed a v8 team and asked them the turnover of g/boxes, they would say next to none. :fact
Dom, how's the popcorn? :lol :lol :corn :beer
yammie 01-21-2004, 05:10 PM You better email DJR then because they are the worse team in the V8 field with gearbox breakage then followed by FPV,
The V8 cars have complete engine rebuilts every 3 races unless they blow in between times also.
Before you start on a subject like the V8 cars you better know some facts and not your thoughts or someone else"s thought s

hey pete,
well, sometimes when shifting from 1st to 2nd, like most ppl have experienced... there can be some unwanted noise and crunching of gears. if i'm going slow or normal, i would use the clutch as the lower the revs, the less likely it is to crunch the gears from 1st to 2nd. but i seldom leave the lights slow and love to zip around... so clutchless changes help save the crunching of me gears at 8,000rpm. if u change gears b4 3-4k rpm in the revs, clutching is better i reckon....but even if i'm going slow....i give it a bitta a rev and back off a fraction just to do a cluchless change. i find it really smooth and faster as well.
anyway, that's just me as well.... cheers
jjjr6 01-21-2004, 05:19 PM Engine? we are talking about gearboxes knob! At what point did we start talking about engines? Man you’re a dumbass!! And I have emailed Lowndsey asking him how often the team goes through gearboxes, and I will put his reply up here. I used to speak to him frequently via email when i was younger, and still have his email in my contacts.
A lot of the people I used to race karts against either drive v8’s or v8 Lites (Will Power, Alex Davison, Andre Morgan, Wil Davison, Paul Dumbrell) and a lot of other people around the traps are heavily involved with the V8’s.
Keep going mate, you're making a great first impression on everyone. :ugh
skyjo 01-21-2004, 05:25 PM by the way yammie, i learnt to do clutchless changes from my buddy rick who's a genius at r1s as that's his job and has been his passion since forever. i'm sure if anyone knew what would and wouldn't kill a bikes components, he would!
anyway, thanks for all the input from the rest of ya guys about the clutchless changes....will have to discuss with rick again and see if there really are any bad after tastes.
skyjo 01-21-2004, 05:27 PM this post is just so i reach the 400 post mark. :lol
i might as well add that i'm dying to see torque right after work...anyone wanna join me and rick at anderson theater tonight?
jjjr6 01-21-2004, 05:28 PM hahah Nice one Eujinn. hahaha.

skyjo 01-21-2004, 05:30 PM by the way jords, how come no one is using chitity chat anymore and everyone seems to have migrated here?
skyjo 01-21-2004, 05:31 PM i'm meeting rick at 6:30 at my house in caulfield to have dinner at this awesome place in richmond....then just head over to andersons to get ticket either b4 or after dinner. u want me to get a ticket for u or do u wanna join us for dinner as well?
4NIKTOR 01-21-2004, 05:34 PM mmmmm i need more :corn :lol:lol
anyway i will not venture an opinion on the whole shifting without a clutch topic as i know practically nothing about, but i can find out about it as most of you know i do some work for the valvoline cummins group and the guy that i work with used to be part of their race team.... so gimmie until tomorrow:thumbup
jjjr6 01-21-2004, 05:35 PM no idea mate. No doubt we'll be all over the shop now that we have a whole section to rule. :owned :rock

Who cares what a V8 supercars does. This is a bike forum if ya want to get exited about V8 Supercars best you head of to www.v8supercar.com.au. Heres the facts plain and simple. All of have done quite a few klms on our bikes, almost all of us dont use the clutch after 2nd gear going up. Now in the five brand new bikes i have had (90,000klm)not one has had gearbox trouble and there were counless wheelies there too. Im pretty sure most of us are in the same boat.
And im with JJJ here the hollinger is the strongest box on the market for circuit use. Failures are so rare its a joke. As for emailing DJR or FPV maybe we could ask them why week in week out you guys are getting canned for, i mean cmon these teams are almost the wealthiest in the paddock. I think their problems runs deeper than gearboxes. I mean they are "destroying them" and yet the other teams that are winning still dont use the clutch and seem to be winning.
Maybe we should post more "offesive pics" so Yammie dosent post here any more.:butt

Ozzy_R1_demon 01-22-2004, 01:42 AM Hi guys:hellobye
Well where do I start. Have read through the past few pages, and bythe looks of things-it seems that YAMMIE feels the need to put his 0.2cents worth into eery conversation-when as we all know, its just not wanted..or accurate.
Sorry to have to start on a harsh not there buddy, but the regulars here know each other fairly well,so any pics that are posted that MAY seem offensive to some members just dropping by the regulars know exactally what was meant, and Im sure wouldnt have taken any offence to the pics.If you doubt this in any way, simply have a read through the 7200 or so posts we had in the original locals section, then you may get a better idea. If you have a problem with any pics that are attached,go sook to a mod..but remember some of the pics have even been posted by th mods in other section, and are FREQUENTLY used by other members in many Topics:fact
As far as your concern about gearboxes-1-Some of the members from this section have the knowledge and ability to rebuild complete bikes,so your opinion on what you think is and isnt good for a bike isnt quite upto that standard. 2-In regards to reffering to the owners manual,if thats how you are (ie"the owners manual says.....")you shouldve saved your time buying a R1,and stuck to something like a BMR cruiser,as Im sure most of us here do follow the manual in many ways, but unlike yourself-we dont live by it:dunno
Moving onto your concerns about V8 Supercars, although Id HATE to admit it(I know he'll never let this down:p)-but Troy's opinion of going to the V8 supercars site was the best idea ive ever heard from a gixxer rider(Comeon Troy,I had to put a comment somewhere). So feel free to visit that site, and vent your wealth of knowledge on someone that cares:thumbup Im not going to share my opinion on this matter(V8 Supercars),because unlike some I dont claim to know all about everything,so I'll leave that topic to the experts.(but if its DJR having the problems, and Amrbose is winning on the other side of the fence in a Ford..maybe its the drivers??? )
Finally,by all means its great that youve got a R1 and enjoy riding..but in future, please save your :ugh for somewhere where its appreciated:yesnod
Have a nice day.
:thumbup
PS:Just thought...thank god Haylez hasnt stumbled accross this Yammie dude yet,he's in for an ear bashing when she gets wind of some of the friendly comments he's made:lol

Right thats it......
4 pages of crap, absolute crap..... you guys winge more than 10 eighteen year old girls with PMS who are in need of a good root:fact besides Who gives a fat rats arse about clutchless and clutch gear changes..... Lets be like Mick and just stay in first...... Besides I find using the clutch strengthens my left hand and wrist.... And Sammy doesnt mind either :sneaky
And Yammie this is no affence to Handicaped people, as my mum cares for a thirty year old girl who had a brain injury when she was little(who is a real sweety), as well as working at a hostel for elderly and handicapped people...... But if you dont want to use a clutch... Buy a wheel chair..... the only time I dont use the clutch is because I've racked tooo many lines before riding, but thats a different story........
Now shut the fu*k up all of you and talk about something interesting..... Like the size of Jordans Willy........ (dont know where that came from)
Get a rabbit up ya
:fire

And Jords, just get a new chain and sprokett.... and be done with it..... If you cant afford it, I suggest being a man whore, and Dom can be your pimp.........
oh look I just found a picture of Jords and Warren (Dom) at it again...... those boys......:no :no
Ozzy_R1_demon 01-22-2004, 01:42 PM LMAO:lol
Daniel R1 01-22-2004, 02:02 PM Hey boys and girls ...well i went to see TORQUE on my own last night ...i have no friends :(
My opinion ....WORST S**T i have ever seen ....do yourself a favor and watch Biker Boys before you think about this crap....first 10 min was awsome ..great twistie and bike action ..i thought it was going to be a great film ....nice chicks , average Vtwin Bikes ..no R1'S:bash
Then they turned to special effects that were way too far out and just ruined a possibly good film ......why does every one insist on pulling a Fast And Furious or Matrix on there films...it would have been so much better and believable if they just had normal people riding even if the stunts wern't out of this planet , atleast they would have been believable . F**king Dumb*rses.
:ugh
My 2 cents on the clutch discussion ...i clutch between 1st and 2nd always upshifts , downshifts ...definately a must .
Dom ...popcorn is fattening ...think about your waist line buddy :finger .
Hey to everyone else ...Jordi , Hayley , Eujin , Greg , Pete , Rick , Petrol and anyone else i have un intentionally forgotten :hellobye

Daniel R1 01-26-2004, 01:11 PM hehehehehehe....HEY FRIENDS
This is starting to get too tough trying to figure out where everyone is writing , don;t know which threat to look at . How about starting a new one and everyone sticking to it , that way we know where to go straight away for rides and bulls**t details.
Well hope everyones weekend has been good , i finally did an oil change over the weekend ...can't believe how much better the bike changes gears , doesn't even seem as clunky in the gear box , i was about 2k over schedules oil change , used Motul oil instead of YamaS**t lube , cost twice as much but worth every scent .
Well enough bull for now from me see you all during the day guys ...have a good one :thumbup
Think about the new Thread and lets stick to it like the old one .
jjjr6 01-26-2004, 02:52 PM Morning all.

Jords....sorry to hear your race was cancelled.....
Anyway catch up with rest of you during the day :thumbup
