Ok, this is to start the process for a possible Mid-American Motorplex track day. For those not familiar with it, you can check it out here Clicky (http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/). I have started contact with them and will be finding out the fee's and requirements that they require. I will let you know what all this adds up to and what it will cost per person. I do however need three questions answered pretty quickly. 1. Do we open it to everyone or only forum members and friends? 2. Weekend or Weekday? 3. Do you want a one day event or two? Also if interested please add your name to the list below. Thanks Mike

Weekend one day event works better for me, although I could probably make 2 days (that would be fun). Open it up to everyone, you'll get more people which will make it more attractive to MAM b/c it means more money for them, which means they might give us a better price break. Keep us informed.

My intention is to rent the track privately. That way costs are keep to the absolute minimum. About all MAM would receive in addition to rental fees is the gate fee, and of course any Food or Gas purchases if they choose to open those parts of the track.

sounds good I would like to know the requirements as I will have to be leather shopping and such... one day weekend or two don't matter to me... thanks for doing the leg work. Malakai

[QUOTE]Originally posted by R1Budha Mid-American Motorplex Trackday List: 1. R1Budha 2. Stunt_girl I'm up for a 2 day track day but what ever works, and I work nights so weekday/weekend doesn't matter. Thanks for looking into this! I'm looking forward to riding again

Malakai It says on their site what you need to ride on the track. I may be up for it depending on the cost. There prices for running throughout the year used to be pretty high but I believe this year they are lowering the fee by half price. I think it used to be 500 to be a member then 50 bucks every wednesday to ride. Now it is supposed to be 250 to join but I still think the 50 for the night. No matter what I will be out there watching and meeting everyone!

It is my impression that weekends are very tough to book at MAM. They prefer to do spectator events (races) on the weekends because they profit much more off them... I also imagine that it is more expensive since everyone wants to go on the weekend. I'm down for any 1 day of the week (weekday or weekend), as long as the cost isn't too high ($100 give/take). I imagine I could get a couple of friends to go with me as well. I'm not sure about MAM, but I know Heartland Park Topeka ends up costing around $5k+ to rent the track for the day (rental, corner workers, INSURANCE, ambulance, etc)... - BA

I've done several track days put on by Sean Edgett... Definitely a stand up guy, albeit a bit $$... Since MAM lowered their motomania prices and I have extra vacation this year, I'm thinking about just signing up through them... Its like 2.5 hours from KC, but if I could get a few more KC peeps to split the travel costs, we could do it like ever other week this summer :rock - BA

I would go if the costs were around 100 bucks... I am 100% ready this year... bought the trailer, sharkskinz and replacement parts should I need them... BPA and I can split travel costs and even sleep in the trailer if its not frieking freezing outside.

Hey Guys, New to the forum and just stumbled on this area of the board! While I don't ride an R1 (sorry) My friend picked up an '03 last year. I ride a 98 Suzuki Bandit 600s for the time being. I am really interested in this MAM day, I was going to go to the School day they have in April and pay the $200 for the formal track schooling as I haven't ever ridden at a road track before (I do however frequent the Strip (Cedar Falls usually) Its an 8 hour drive damn near so I gotta make the decision on what I do wisely! BTW.. this looks like a great forum, Keep me busy a while browsin a while waiting for the snow to melt! Later Josh

Well, just an update for those interested. It seems that the people at MAM are not really interested in renting the track out to us. They have basically told me that if we want to go, we need to go to their already scheduled events. I guess we could possibly set up a date to all go, but personally, i'm not that interested in dealing with them anymore, or giving them any of my money. Sorry for the delay, but they were not exactly quick to respond to any of my inquiries.

Any new progress on the MAM track day? I bought a season pass with TrackAddix...a no session track day. They're at www.trackaddix.com I'll be doing all of those, but I'm always up for more if we can get em.
