I'll run it past her and see what she says. :thumbup I think she'd be up for heading down there for a weekend. Ride down Friday, pretty much ride all day Saturday then ride home Sunday. Go ahead and plan for a few weeks out, but we'll have to wait until later in the season. I'd like her to get a little more experience before heading anywhere. Not to mention I'm still waiting for tires to arrive. :sleep

Well, lets just say this. I just sold my last bike and owned it exactly a year, almost to the day. Bought it with 8,000 miles on it, and sold it with 38,000 miles on it. I look at it that they are not center peices for your kitchen table. I'll ride anywhere, and I'll gaurntee that my roommate and such will come along. Why else do you own them? :)

Stunt_girl mentioned it, so I figure why not. Even if we don't have a bunch of people I know at least her and I will be out carving it up so you are welcome to come also, just try to keep up with that girl! She will need new tires soon after what I saw of her. I know my tires were getting chewed up pretty good from yesterdays ride. I may have to tone it down a bit in the future, no need to "try" and keep up with the leaders and go through tires. I cannot afford that!:riding

Not as of yet...still doing that whole break in thing...she's only seen 7k for the moment. Hopefully after i get off of work today, and my ride to southern DSM, I'll be high enough on the miles to have some fun. She's quicker than hell though, even down low. Up to about 3k, she feels like a six, but then again, who rides that low anyhow. As soon as 4 comes in...you can just feel it wanting to go...and go...and go.... Pics in due time, I have to do some work to her first. We'll see, I might take some tonight . if I do, I'll post them for ya'll.

I only have about 1-1.5 hours free on Saturday, from about 1:00 to 2:30, then I have to be at work at 3:00. Sunday works a lot better, barring rain.

Sabian
04-14-2004, 10:41 AM
Jump....You are in ames? Maybe we could all meet like halfway. Sunday would rock for me, as I have been tosing the idea around of going to IC as well on Sat. Though I am open to either day. If the guys in Ames would drive west to the border on 30...could the guys...and girl drive north and meet us somewhere? I hear there are great roads following the river and things. Though last night, I did receive a ticket for doing 83 in a 35...its bullshit, but he's just doing his job. At least I still have my license and bike. Long story short, i'm only speeding with ya'll if ya'll are with me. :) Gots to cut out the ride like I stole it attitude when alone. And no, I was not in town, it was out by ledges state park...the guys from Ames would know where i was. Ya'll should have seen it, four cop cars, two DNR guys, and a K-9, and all I did was pull over. I think they thought I was gonna run...we have such a bad wrap. :)

I live in Dakota Dunes, SD which is bordering Sioux City, IA. I only live a little over an hour from Council Bluffs. I know several guys from there that I met at the Canton Car Show 2 years ago. Anyways, I jsut sold my Champion's Edition R1 for mynew '04 600RR. Please don't hate on me, I was looking for something different and the '04 R1 was just too much $$$$. Anyways, I'm in if anyone wants to ride sometime. I can make it out whenever.

Riding home with two buds...one newbie, and one experienced. Watching the storm come in, all of a sudden...and I mean all of a sudden...****ing winds like no other. I was in a lean further down than what I do when in a corner. Basicly pulled to the side....or pushed...still not sure. Layed the bike down in the grass as easy as possible and dove for the ditch. Buddy's ZX9R and my bike are fine. Other buddies F4i went for a spin in the wind. It's really hard to explain..but ya, never thhought I would be in a friggn tornado on a bike. Ever try to out run sometihng coming from your side? 100 mph winds doesn't do much for you on a direct side wind. It was crazy as all hell. Budha...didn't know you were getting an 04..c.ongrats. Kinda looks like mine. And to everyone...though I "layed it over" it was only do it didn't get blown away while on a side stand. No damage to my bike at all. God DAmnitt!!! Went out for a nice ride p north through the hills yesterday and on the way home a state trooper pulled 2 of us over. the guys in the back didnt warn us he was coming. Both of us got a ticket for 10 over. We were only doing 81 in a 65. Luckily we had slowed down, we were cruisin along at 100 about a minute befoer that. Great ride up until that point! $43 ticket. Not much but, I think I am going to fight it just to try and have the cop not show to court. Maybe it will get thrown out. Unless any of you guys have any ideas? Does 10 over get reported to insurance? If not then I will just pay the fine.

Chnage the hearing date to one of the days that they officer is off. Then pray he does not show up for the hearing. works about 60% of the time.

So soneone else in Ames has a silver one now though? What did you think of it? Also...after our ride this sat, and then the rest of the evening, I noticed I have this noise comign from what I think is the front fork. Kinda like a "cuchunk" sound or something when I hit a bump. I can reporoduce it in my carage by bouncing the thing up and down, or by grabbi;ng the wheen and moving it back and forth between me and the bike if I am in front of it. Something is loose...warrenty tmie I guess. Nice thing about new bikes, warrenty takes the little things and fixes them so I dont' have to look and tear shit apart.

Sabian Sounds like loose steering bearings to me. from what i understand the way the 04's are crated, the top nut is removed to temove the bike from the crate. And yeah, iy belongs to the brother of a guy i workwith. I didn't really do much other than ride it back from Des Moinesfor him. Only thing i noticed was that the seat got DAMN hot! other than that basically all interstate riding. One other thing noticed was that it tended to wander a bit on tjhe interstate. Don't know if it was the wind or what, but was kinda annoying. Glad to hear yours didn't receive any damage. I'm finally bringing mine out of storage/work tomorrow. Whoo Hoo!

Talk to Paul's Yamaha or Tim O'neill in C.B. I think they were both in the $20 range (per tire), as long as the rims were off the bike.

Did notice that I had...key word there, had a dip at 7500...cuz now she's a little smoother round that area. It's not like a great improvment..but then again, I bought the system for the track and I havn't had the chance to find out really what's she like above 10,000. I don't believe a full system is that cost effective for just street riding...and frankly, for just dicking around town and some curves outside of town...doesn't do a whole lot. Let me take her to the track and I'll let ya know what I really think.

No, don't do kettlebell training at the moment. Haven't seen one in many years, let alone lift one. :( I have a home gym in my basement, unfortunately the ceiling height is 6'5". So, all my overhead lifts have to be done either sitting down, in the living room upstairs, or by dragging the weights outside.

Originally posted by stunt_girl What time saturday? and do you have any idea of where they are going? 8:00 Saturday morning. I asked about the breakfast and ride and here is the response I got: Sat. 8:00 AM Summer Kitchen Cafe, La Vista on 84th street. Just north of Giles- next to Hobby Lobby. I will call them on Friday with a head count. I think last month we had 20 or so so that is what I will go with unless more people pipe up either yah or nay. The ride afterwards will be organized on the fly, but it is usually 2-4 hours in length. Generally through the Loess Hills. Unless Frank is looking to do lunch in Rapid City. or maybe that can be next month. ;-)

So like if I were to want to join in on this little ride ya'll are thinking of...where would I have to be? 84th street doesn't help me much as I dont' even know the town. That and 8am...ya, I have to drive at least 2 hours to come close to where ya'll are. Could I meet ya somewhere else?

The problem is that we won't really know where we're riding until we ride, which makes it difficult to pick a place to meet. You're more than welcome to meet me at the location I PM'd you last time. It's right off of I-80 and we can go to the breakfast from there. You'd have to be there no later than 8:15-8:30 though. If you need me to re-send you the directions and my phone number, let me know. the only problem with that is, I really don't want to start riding from ames at 5:30 am...sice it will take me 2-3 hours to get there. Unless, you can tell me where I can unload a bike from a truck. I might be able to con my roommate into letting me use his dakota for the day. I don't have a board to unload....anyone know of a hill or something I can back up to? I'd really like to join ya'll..

Where did you guys end up going after I went to work? Did you eat at Fazoli's? Did you ride down to Glenwood? Zach, did you take I-80 home, or did you try to find highway 30 and take it? Erkki and Sabian, We are planning to head up on the morning of June 4th. We are gonna come back on sunday afternoon the 6th. It should be a great time. Tickets are $30 per day, but we will probably only go in on sat. and sunday. because friday is usually just practice and stuff. I basically got my uncle's spare room. So i think it's just like a double room with two queen bed's or something. Nothing fancy. Right now i have one guy goin with my for sure, i'm sure we can double up if we have too, (we have to do it all the time on football trips lol). Otherwise you could get on the net and look for other accomodations or we can put people on the floor. The room is like $65 bucks so if we have like 4 of us in there it will be cheap as shit. Two of us will be leaving from des moines then to ames to meet up with my uncle and cousin and like two other guys i think. The hotel is about 20 miles from the race track so that will make for nice morning rides to the track. Let me know if you want more info. When have you guys been riding and where? I'm in England right now but i'll be back next week, then i have to pick up my plastic for my bike and put my fender eliminator and new exhaust on and i'll be ready to do it up. Hope to hear from you soon, Clint
