can someone tell me how i can feel more in control of my r1? i'm 6'1 and i don't feel like i'm in control of the steering. i have to put a lot of weight on the handlebars... and i know that is bad. are there any products that will fit on my bike (ex. risers), and do they work. maybe i can change my riding form?! i don't know. please help! :hellobye :butt

Eh I understand your problem. Im 6'6 212. I ride a honda I never road on a R1 but I hear they are really comfortable and I am hoping to buy one in the near future. But price scares me. I bought my Honda off my dad for 500 dollars (Canadian) :thumbup But I think it was worth every penny its model is 1992 and I was wondering should I save up my pennies and buy a R1? Or just stick with my Nighthawk for now? Thank you see ya.

Well I don't think being too tall has much to do with it!

I'm 6'4 and I feel pretty comfortable on my 02.

Try scooting all the way back on the seat, putting the balls of your feet on the pegs and gripping the tank a bit with your knees (for some reason this is much easier wearing leathers than jeans for me). In this position, I can rest my elbows on my knees and grip the bars very lightly when slabbing it or cruising on the straights. Also, work on your abs and back a bit to help support your torso.
Stay loose on the bike and move around a bit. You should have so little pressure on the bars that you can flap your elbows as you corner. It looks stupid, but if you can't do it, you're putting way too much weight on your wrists and your ams are too straight.

Does this help?

hey thanks 9mile. i've tried doing what you've suggested before, but i don't like to be so low on the bike when i cruise the local streets. but, what you've suggested works very well when i'm on the hwy. hey, what do you think about handlebar risers? do they help?

alu, save up for the r1!!! seriously, kicks ass! try to get a special credit card if you have good credit. i have ZERO apr till next year.

Handelbar risers maby you should get a Harly. The risers are weaker and dont put you n the best position to control your bike. Why do you want to sit up?
