waz up guys, guess they wiped the old post after the new year, well a status update for me is I am in the midst of negotiating for my 2004 R1, i am trying to make daytona this year, so hopefully before march 1, my new ride will be in. i am going with the silver one this time. john , erin you guys out there?:hellobye

Yo what up peeps, just saying happy new year to all you guys and making sure everyone is still alive ;'). Looks like we got about 3 more months before the real fun starts. I thought it was mad crazy last year in terms of the amount of people that we had riding with us but I think its going to be even more so this year. Not to sound like a grandma but I def think it would be wise the first time that we all meet up to take the few min. discuss somethings in regards to safe riding practices to avoid a mishap like the one that happened last year. Just a thought.

what is left of my bike after the crash, doesnt look to bad from a distance. it was thrown this far away from the other side of the road, impact was at a very high speed

the rear tire, imploaded hit by a ZX-11, his rear tire hit my rear tire, blew out both tires and crushed the rim, i was thrown staight up in the air, brandon said i was "launched"

toatal damages where in the range of 8k with labor, all the plastics except for 1 piece where trashed some how, my custom gas tankwas scratched up pretty good, there where no clutch pedals because there where completely ripped off the bike, 5 bikes in all where involved in the crash. someone didnt see a stop ahead sign, and plowed into us at a high rate of speed. just how fast, well, fast enough... glad everyone made it out okay, now its time to get an '04

No doubt the R1 is going to do well but I think the Honda and Kawasaki will do good as well (Competition is good for consumers). For me personally though all of the liter class machines provide so much more power than the average person can handle that the performance argument (My bike is .1 sec. faster through the quarter than yours :2bitchsla) is totally mute. The thing that stands out for me is styling and comfort and while I can't speak to the new R1's comfort it wins in the styling department (like it has done the past 2 years) hands down! :rock

Hello everybody. I am new to the r1 forum and looking forward to riding this year. how often do you guys ride and where do you usually meet up?

We ride at least once a on a weekend (usually Sunday) and we meet up either in Annapolis or at this gas station that's located way down route 2 (I'm not really sure if that location is correct). Anyway, I'm sure we'll get the specifics worked out by the time the riding season starts. I'm hoping to have things a little better organized to where we all meet up in 1 central location and don't spend 2 hours riding around and picking up people. I think a good spot would be downtown Annapolis (by the water where all the bikes park) since its kinda in the middle of where everyone lives and the easiest place for newcomers to find. Let me know what you guys think. Where do you live Hulk?

yeah i think thats a good idea john, but of course since your so close to me ill be comming to pick you up for the ride down there, brandon, nick, john and I sometimes meet at the burger king on crain highway next to the walmart in glen burnie, you can see it from the route 97 right next to the old veterans highway exit.

I live in elkridge so that is good for me. I am looking forward to riding with some new people this year. I used to ride with some people in delaware but when my brother totaled his flamed03 r1 in october and was laid up for a while most of those people became afraid of riding.

Yep, I just havent' installed it yet due to the crap weather. Looks to be in grade A condition though. I bought it from someone on the forums.

he's done. he went down at 70 with a t shirt on. He does not try to convince me to stop riding but he has scared himself away from it. he spent 2 weeks in icu and is just now getting back to work. He would have not been half as bad if he had been wearing his gear.

my boy mike mallet will be riding with us this year, he bought my bike from the insurance company and rebuilt it, lol hes already finished putting it back together. he definatley made out doing it himself. i think it salvaged for 1200 and he spent another 3k or so in parts. i know he used ebay to get a bunch of the stuff , on one deal he got a new front and back rims plus tires for 150.00, whatta bargin...

damn, sorry to hear that bro... i always wear my gear, even if im sweating like a pig... thats the number one lesson i learned from way back, seen to many people get hurt who where not wearing gear who would have walked away. at least hes okay now, hope to see you in the summer hulk.

That's sweet, Chris. It sounds like he def made out. I'm glad to hear he's on the road to recovery Hulk. The proper gear is def worth its weight in gold. I know a bunch of guys we ride with (including myself) can attest to pain/time/money/life savings wearing the proper gear offers.

Install on those take about 25 min. Make sure you have the socket to take the triple tree clamp off! I didnt I had to buy 1 the piece of crap was $15 dollars. Have you done anything else to it?

hey john did you get the second service done to your bike? the one where they adjust the valves?

I haven't gotten the valves done yet. I believe that comes at 16,000 miles. I should be there by about mid summer I imagine. Hey Chris, I heard some 04's are showing up in dealerships. Did you decide on who you are goign with and the bike will come in?

yeah actually i have my deposit down with ellicot city motorsports, thats where i bought my other bike, i am the first one on the list for a silver one, he told me it should be really soon, i am hoping for a pre march arrival date cause we are going to daytona on the 5th. he says he is about 90 percent sure it will be here before the end of FEB. if you know of any dealers that have one let me know cause im ready to buy.

oh yeah one more thing, i heard from reading the general talk forum that some people are only paying 9900~10,400 OTD i was like WTF??? im sure its going to be 12k OTD here in MD, i was considering going out of state if i found one that was going to save me 1500 bucks.

So how much is he charging you? When I bought my bike MSRP was 10, 400 and I got mine for 9,800 out the door. Let me know how much he is charging you and then I'll give my salesguy a call to see if he can beat it. I'm stepping out now, give me a call on my cell if you need to talk to me.

We did Rossback Rd (which is right by Crofton) and also did Croom Rd (Not exactly sure what town its in) which is probably one of the funnest backroad around.

Howdy. I live in Towson, MD at the edge of "country". Usually ride north, including up into PA, but am interested in joining you folks for a ride down south. Do you all ever do the Ephrata PA ride first Sundays of the month? Off to Daytona this weekend, but generally up to a Sunday ride. Whats up everyone - I'm looking to pick up an 04R1 but nowhere in DC / VA seems to have them yet. I'm pondering wandering further afield but not sure it's worth it. Every sunny day that passes I'm killing myself inside with not being able to ride (previous bike written off by a wonderful SUV driver who shall remain nameless). As I'm relatively new to the country (moved over from England) any recommendations for good places to hit up? Any information is appreciated. Cheers, /Andy

I heard reports that Coleman Powersports had gotten some 04's in. But I wouldn't recommend shopping there. Criswell powersport in MD might. Hope that helps.

Thanks mate, appreciate it. I've not had very good experiences in Coleman so far - they seem compelled to try and sell me sh1t I don't want or need, and assume that I know nothing about bikes. I guess it doesn't matter so much as I figure we'll be paying list + tax for these puppies anyway. I'll give Criswell a call tomorrow so see whats up with them.

I will warn you, a friend of mine got a little confused by one of the sales guys at Criswell. I wasn't there so I don't know what really happened. My friend thought the sales rep said that they had 04s back in early feb. which was not true. So just be careful.

Check out Freestate cycle,(capital heights) they sold there first four 04's but are slated to get 30 more in incriments, also call Twiggs, I think its in hagerstown?

You can also give cycleworld a call and see if they have any in or will be getting some soon. I bought my 03 from them.

no I was refering to the statement that the person who died (sean) was showing off. I think Ricardo said it. I know it's easy to think that about someone dying in such a manner. annapolis is a little on the far side. It's about an hour or so i think. Although I have never been to annapolis. I was hoping to get some other stuff done at some point on sunday.

I dropped my bike off today at the shop to get a new rear wheel put on. I should hopefully be able to pick it up in the afternoon tomorrow so I will be up for whatever when I get my bike. Hit me up and let me know what's going on.

Honda of Crofton charged me $56 which is cheaper than the $67 Cycle World charged me last time. Its probalby about 45 - 50 min. away. I say we stay locally, we'll have plenty of people to ride with and I don't feel like spending half the day trying to travel to some far place to hook up with half the world, hehe. Since the weather isn't going to be that great on Sat as it is I think we should just do the back roads locally but if you guys want to do the VA thing, its no biggie, I can hang.

I'm so pissed I missed you guys today. I got directions off the internet to sears in fair oaks shopping center but it took me to the wrong place. Damn mapquest. I ended way down in fairfax county at some shopping center off of brodderick drive(602). I am the worst person when it comes to directions. Oh well, atleast I got to explore a new area. Don't worry dude, you didn't miss much. It was a disaster from the get go. To make a long story short 30 minutes into the ride and 2 accidents later (everyone was ok thankfully) the ride was pretty much called off for the day. The people that came up from MD though (me, Christian and mensah077 and his bro) hit up some back roads in the Clarksville/Columbia area so at least we got a good ride in for the day. I think we came to the realization that hooking up with so many of varying skill levels is just a recipe for disaster. So next time I think the group will be much smaller and more back road carving focused. You don't have to be Nicky Hayden to ride with us (I'm the equivalent of a 90 year old with a walker) but at least be cognizant enough to know your own skill ability and limits (Which is why I usually ride in the back). I don’t have to worry about slowing anyone up or riding faster than I know I’m capable of and at the end of the day we all had a good ride and make it back in one piece.

Not too bad except the swingarm got all ****ed up. I had to hacksaw my clip-on to get the lever off. My recommendation to anyone with a 2K4 R1 is to definetly get swingarm sliders. Here is the scoop for this weekend: I have a dinner i have to attend at 5pm so i wanted to head out early in order to get some time in on sunday, i know some of you have church\work\other things to take care of in the morning so i would like to do the following. Christian, if you are coming to B&N tonight, be sure to come check me out. I will be there around 7:30 also and will be near the Chevy Chase Bank. The place will be packed with bikes by at least 9pm. I went but I was running a little late, i didnt get there until 830pm it was fun though, tons of bikes all over the place, i caught up with sosa and got a sneak peak at his new ride. they have these gatherings every thursday apparently, however next week i will be in Cancun, so i will have to catch up with you guys on the one after.

Yeah B&N is a big deal each thurs. (weather permitting). I'm going tomorrow for first time. I'm always at work on thurs nights. Hope to see some of you there.

i just found out this morning my girl accepted a dinner invitation yesterday for this evening, i dont think i can squeeze B&N in tonight, i am sorry guys. however for the weekend, its supposed to be really nice out you guys hook up and head down there, it was fun the last time i went, i am looking to ride saturday this week, or sunday early cause i have to be at a party in the afternoon. last time i went to B&N i didnt get there until 9pm i left around 8:15 or so from arundle mills area, it was a good time and there was still over 200 people there when i left at 11pm. let me know if you guys want to head out on saturday , or sunday.

well good news and bad news, good news, i got my bike at lunch time to speed up my departure this afternoon to B&N, bad news i was creamed with cicada juice on the way to work, i must have been hit like 20 times, i couldnt see after a while and had to pull over, sorry guys but that not my idea of fun riding so i think im just going to stay in this week, lol sorry for all the switching around , youll see what im talking about when you get out there, let me know how it goes... if they arent that bad this weekend im up for riding but its crazy out there, i had to slow down cause they started to hurt. lol.

I think we need to get an official motorcycle weather man because yeasterday i read a very slight chance of a tunderstorm. So me and Cyberj10 were on our way up o Benniggins last night then it just started pouring is was soaked within a meer second or two. So we stop and let the storm cool out for a while a head home ,which was the way the staorm was going i think Cyberj10 caught the most of it back There's always next thursday and i was upset because i had just finished cleaning my bike and cleaning the chain. :confused: Skyline saturday anyone interested reply, im going with the streetwolves

i think cyberj still has a flat tire from last time, i dont know if he has gotten replaced yet, I want to go but i am getting 2 things done to my bike after work and probably cant leave for B&N until around 8pm I am doing the blinker mod to my bike after work , for the front running lights, and also giving her an due oil change. if you guys are not going to leave until around 8pm i can probably make it, i figure it will take me about 1.5 hours to finish and i plan on starting at 630pm

the blinker mod, as in wiring the blinkers to the running lights without loosing the running light function? If you're using that relay wiring diagram that was posted on the forum, its junk. Have some fuses in handy cause u might blow a few to get it right. I had to give up early to head to o.c. so I just wired the blinkers straight to the running lights. If you get it working tonight you gotta tell me the correct pole hook ups :) -Ryan

Cool cool, I missed everything this weekend cause of my stupid flat. Well it looks like my tire is now going to be in tomorrow but the bad news is my boy might be deploying today so I'll probably have to take it to a cycle shope to get it put on. Trying to schedule with them is such a pain in the ass. Last time I went there it took them 2 wees (yes TWO WEEKS) to put on 1 stinkin rear tire. I really need to learn how to change tires myself so I don't have to put up with that crap. Oh well, I'll let you guys know if I can make Thurs. or not.

yeah rear wheel hp. heres a stock red r1 who got 141.4 so im calculating with the mods i did i gained maybe 8-9 hp

here is my dyno run for my bike. (for comparison sake a zx10r with slipon posted 150.2 on this dyno)

Hey christian, That dyno is WAY off dude. There is no way a stock 04 is only putting down 141.4. My bike made 141.5, so at least I know I'm making more than a stock 04 :). The one guy that was on the bike dynoing the zx12 works at champion motorsports in herndon, va and he's smart as **** and actually knows how to operate a dyno said that the stock 04's he dynoed put down about 154. After I get my airbox on I'm going to take it to him and hopefully break the 150 mark. I hit 149.1 on his dyno after I got my full arata put on...

im looking at in in perspective, measuing the difference between bikes and not the actual number, all dynos are different and there are 3 types. on the same dyno my bike peformed in the top 3 of its class, and thats all i really care about.. :)
