1st Annual Eastern Creek "Tyre Fryers Convention"? what do you think?

Petrol_Spice
01-27-2004, 09:06 PM
I was thinking, as me and the Mrs have have been chatting and I've been aloud to put a deposit down on a new bike ["waiting waiting"] what say you about this: Lets say June "17 & 18" we all put some money in, maybe do a fund raiser or something so that we can book out Eastern Creek for a day or maybe two A two day weekend at Eastern Creek would cost about $9,500.00 two days during the week about $5,500.00 as there's at lest 12 Tyre Fryers that I can name off the top of my head we'd each be up for either $834 the weekend or $460 for the week days. But if you know people that don't come here that ride and would be into riding to Eastern Creek it'd be cheaper but I'd suggest that maybe 30(which means $320 on the weekend and 185 during the week) as the maximum amount of riders. Plus there's an Ambo' and public liability ins' in the above mentioned. There's also the opportunity to start up a proper club so that we could represent at trackdays and so on making it easy for anyone that wants to get their racing ticket to get it. It's just a thought I was thinking and I know it's heaps of money but if we all had a deadline to pay the venue each person could pay Eastern Creek directly and it post here when they've done it. Anyway post your opinions? I'm up for a car wash or something like that to help fund it. Stuff it, if I could raise enough money you can all pay me back at the gate! What do you think? If you think it's a dumb idea let me know!

yammie
01-27-2004, 09:27 PM
If you wanna make money why not make it a general track day where you place an add have groups etc then most days at the creek are only like $150 for a pre booked day or this isnt what you wanted.. those dates in June i might be able to get off ,but the price might be out for me ,due to not much work around.Would you charge to spectate?? i might be able to get a couple of other guys on R1"s and R6"s,do you only want Yamaha"s or any bike be in this day. Have you thought about grades and what grade to most guys here ride in ,im C grade as dont get to track much,so i dont do good times to be in B or A

Petrol_Spice
01-27-2004, 09:38 PM
I wasn't actually putting that much thought into it. I was thinking that it'd be good for "US" to get together for a party and some track time. I don't care if you or your mates ride R1's or NS150 hondas or Sporters. Just the opportunity to meet and run. If a bloke rolls up and rides poorly, he rides poorly. I was figuring that the last 2 hours could be a "Race" for those that want to. But I was going to say that if anyone can't run they don't race! Do a half hour qualifier in the morning and if you can't lap at lets say 110% off the Australian Sportsport 3rd place lap times you don't make the cut for the race. But to answer your questions No I'd say if you're only there to watch you don't have to pay. Only if your going to race. But I'm thinking that we ALL would have to put some effort into this or it'd be way to much work for one digger.

interesting idea Petrol... i would suggest the mid week thing as not only do we have to pay for the track but accomodation, travel expenses, living expenses and last but not least the copious amounts of :beer :beer that will be consumed throughout such an event... if there was enough interest in the idea to make it relatively affordable for most i think i would be in it for sure:yesnod just a quick thought though....isn't mid june gettin a little close to winter:dunno

Petrol_Spice
01-27-2004, 09:55 PM
Forni' We can could do it Mid Summer it matters not. If enough people get interested I think it would no longer matter. In fact if it was in Summer we could get the weekend and THAT would rock! It's the best idea as there's an Ambo there so if you throw it down the road it's only going to kill your bike. anyways it's an idea open for discussion.

a few good ideas fellas... im all up 4 having a party & meeting all u guys. track sounds like a good idea 2, but it would take a shit load of organising, not 2 mention if only a few guys were interested it would be very costly. as long as i can get the time off work & it's not 2 expensive, i'll be up 4 anything. gotta make sure tho, no matter wot we do we gotta get as many people 2gether as possible... it would really suck ass if we organised something & then only 5-10 of us turned up.

BG. At this stage I'm organising a 2 day weekend for the event. It's not going to be until next year '05 so that'll give me time to organise it and you lot time to save and plan to come. 60 riders should be plenty. I'm going to organise it into bracket morning and afternoon sessions. There will be a breatho' so that no one including me rides/races p!ssed. Camping/accomodation will I'm hoping be o.k'd for us on site. I'll be updating you all as the time goes by!

hey dude...... if your going to organise this you have to book the track well in advance..... the other people organising track days here book like a year in advance...... are you sure it's $9500 for the weekend... i heard that it's $9500 for the day on a weekend that is..... plus the track hire went up this year....... there would be so so so much organising that would have to go into this....... then you still have to get money off everyone....... sounds very hard to me..... when you could just pay $280 each and have 2 days at the track and not have to do anything....... there are organisers that run weekends at the creek down here...... good luck if it goes ahead....... i'll keep an eye out if it goes ahead i'll be there...

Man, don't come down on me..... I've already spoken to both Eatern Creek, Winton and Qld raceway I have $$$$ figures from all three and I'm working on being able to camp onsite, plus theres the event organisation for things like, raffles, food, womens, prizes, races, the Ambo's, the public liability ins, transport to and from, ride organisation for lads that are going to ride to the event, also I'm trying to organise sponsors for the event like a bikeshop/liquor place. As I'm connect through family ties to a major spirits manufacturer I might be able to have the whole thing catered for. Which would rock. If I can wrangle it I'd like to see Yamaha Australia show up!(don't like the chances there!!!!!!) I know it's a big task thus the reason I said it'll be in 05. Relax you can have a beer with us on the day! BTW this isn't the first time I've done something like this. If you haven't been in a Coma for the last 8 years you've seen my work before. I'll be there if it's at Eastern Creek or Oran Park. Petrol, have you checked any conditions that Eastern Creek might impose on hirers, like wet weather policy and if marshalls are mandatory. There's also a food van there, I don't know if they pay the track hirer a fee to operate on the days in question. If a large number of out-of-towners go you might be able to get a group booking at a discount from a local motel, if camping is not permitted at the circuit. Also it might be an idea to contact a professional photographer to be on circuit over the weekend to capture all the action. Tim Munroe is pretty good, he usually covers the MotoConcepts and Superbike School track days. If camping is permitted I reckon we should get an old gixxer to use as a camp fire. Nothing like the smell of a freshly toasted gixxer first thing in the morning.

R102ralph
02-01-2004, 02:18 AM
eastern does not have a wet weather policy anymore if its wet you run like it or not........ oran park still has a wet policy but still costs about 30% of track hire ...... i agree with two dogs about photographer(picture at bottom taken by tim munro) you are not required to have flag marshalls but as filco ridedays do they have marshalls riding round in the groups...... has anyone checked on the hire prices again to see if the first thread was right with the price......

Petrol, will you fark these thread hijacking cahns off. Give em one of your flying kung-fu kicky thingoes to their empty farking heads. They pollute your part of the world. One of them is a stinkin gixxer boy wannabe, the other doesn't even list his bike (probably a farkin mongoose). let's get back to the farkin thread, cause it farkin had MERIT! Tim Munro is a legend photographer. All the track pics on my website were taken by him. To my knowledge he doesn't charge the hirer. Each rider who wants pics taken give him a fee (used to be $20) which gets them a selection of standard size awesome photo's in the mail, from which you can order enlargements at reasonable cost. I have a poster size pic of me giving me sparkies a good workout, it's so clear you can read the tacho. If the cost or organising gets too much, why don't all those who want to go to the convention pre-book a ride day at the creek ($150), stay in local accomodation, and on the day after the trackday we could all go for a gixxer hunt either up the putty rd, the old road, or down the south coast to Macquarie Pass. (If you head down south I'll throw on a bbq beside the lake). Serious comments, anyone?

I did a trackday at EC last year, had a good day, not a bad track, and i believe better facilities then PI, at PI just for a trackday they charge you for using a Pit Garage, at EC they dont charge for this. sounds like a great idea.. i already have accomm etc organised :)

Jamz1980

well moto-concepts hires out the creek all the time, they charge $99 for a weekday ride all day, or $149 for the weekend rides, they split it up into 3 classes, and they get a 20min per run and rotate, its good, cause you get to relax adjust some things and get back out there. you can get the mat mladin bus to come down for free, he dyno's anyones bike for a fee, but that is their concern. and he organises it , and i know the people that have the tire chaging truck there to, they charge $390 a set of tires to be changed complete. The only other thing to organise is that Mr Monroe guy that comes for free aswell and he takes photo's of all the riders and if you want the pictures you pay him. so when you organise it there are many things to do, cause it'll be the first year it would be hard for importers to commit decent prizes for shows, like show and shine and best lap times etc, also one more thing there is another mob that hangs around the creek for free that picks up and takes home bikes that have come down in flames and they rode it down. cheers i'lll be in to help organise, as for entries, there would be heaps of people willing to go if the price is right

Hey Guys, i'm new to the forum and this is my first post in the Aussie. I sold my R6 last w/end and have a deposit on the R1. Have been told 2 weeks and I'll have it. Re; the old road. They have retared it form Brooklyn all the way to the Mt white cafe. and through to calga. They did a better job than the north section( that is now good except for 3 corners were all the gravel is gone ) The south section is great except it cuts the shit out of your tryes. But this will improve with time. As for riding it you will have no problems going hard. I ride the old road every 2 weeks on sunday's with a couple of mates. So if anyone wants to hook up let me know. Cheers:thumbup

Hey guys... I unfortunately don't have a bike ATM... Looking to get 2004 R1 as soon as is practical.. Wanna build house at end of this year, and it is "logically" higher on the priority list... But, work is plenty, money is streaming in even more than plenty, and may be possible to pay cash for R1 before end of year.. here's hoping.. (gov't jobs!!) Anyways.. whether to ride, or to spectate, I'll be at this event without a doubt.. I'll let a mate know about it as time draws closer, he is not on this forum, but races a 98 model at club level.. I have told him of this forum, but he too busy working/racing to talk bikes.. so he says.. Anyway.. main reason for this post.. I am in no way Pro, but do have a pro Digital SLR camera, and am a pretty keen amateur photographer... If no bike, I will be there with all my gear, firing off hundreds of pics of all attendees, in high res pictures.. all of which would be made available to all members, free of charge.. High res means to print them out up to 20"x30", it will appear to have come from your local pro photo shop... Anyways, if you still want a Pro there, by all means, but I'll be there, snapping away, as with no bike, this is the closest I can get to getting involved ATM.. Even if I can get my bike by then, my photographic equipment is almost a physical part of me, so will be there too, regardless... For a quick peek at some of my pics, a few friends ofmine run a "Drift Club", for Jap Import cars, at www.initialdrift.com.au and I take pics at their days at Eastern Creek, and other locations.. you can see a small selection here.. http://www.initialdrift.com.au/galleries/events_20040605_chaser (*NOTE* - The pics you view here were taken at "small" size-1100x900 or so- and at medium resolution... I will be living within 30 minutes of Eastern creek next year so accommodation will not be a problem for anyone as I will provide my place as the forum hangout for the week/weekend whatever the case may be. This national forum meet is still possible. Over the chrissie break I will come up with some dates to propose to the forum and after discussion to finalise a date we will be half way there to making this happen. So if you are keen (and serious) about getting together start saving your pennies. Estimated costing will be around $700 for non-Sydneysiders (fuel/track day/food/drinks :beer (of course we will be hitting the town together)) PM me (http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/private.php?s=&action=newmessage&userid=4775) if you are interested in making this happen in late 2005 EDIT: Here (http://www.circuitbreakers.com.au/component/option,com_ourevents/Itemid,25/) are the Circuit Breakers dates for 2005. Check them out and if there are dates that you would prefer (or dates that you definitely can't make) let me know.

info on eastern creek, bad news i am afraid: Eastern Creek Ride Day Operator for the next 5 years is the Australian Superbike School. Prices and conditions will be identical to Phillip Island. COSTINGS WERE PREDETERMINED BY ARDC. Prices: $199 for weekday (4 groups each get 6 x 20 minute sessions) $219 for weekend and public holiday $299 for premium (3 groups of 25, plus suspension seminars & instructors) includes MA insurance (medical expenses for the rider now covered), and will be fully catered (lunch, tea, coffee, water) and if you want to pay for extras such as lates and massage, it also includes an upstairs airconditioned cafe where people can purchase all other stuff. The catering caravan will operate as usual for those who want chips etc. Regs include: -sign on at gate -leathers only -up to 35 riders per group -inside passing allowed in all groups with a minimum of 2-3m gap Group split with rough timings (note that Department of Sport and Recreation has officially ruled that lap timing is ILLEGAL) as there are 7 flag points, this will be enforced, if its obvious you are in the wrong group, you will be told to change provided there is enough space in that group (or you may have to sit it out) -slow group over 2.10 -medium slow group 2 - 2.10 -medium fast group 1.52 - 2minutes -fast low 1.50s down. Note this is not a day for racers (i.e., 1.30s) EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT FROM NOW TO WHEN SUPERBIKE OFFICES REOPEN IN JANUARY CHECK THEIR WEB SITE FOR DETAILS: http://www.superbikeschool.com.au

thats coz it is now official news that ASBK are sole company for BOTH Phillip Island AND Eastern Creek, ah well the big problem i am pretty sure is wjat is going to happen is that even with these price increases there will still be plenty of people prepared to pay to go... brougs is really looking for the prestige market, and once linfox finds that people are still coming with the new fees, the prices are only going to go up AGAIN...we have had it pretty good really, unfortunately now we are going to suffer...there will be less people on the track but more premium days at the cost of the normal punters who dont have that much money sucks but thats business....

From: Eastern Creek Ride Day Team [mailto:info@easterncreekridedays.com.au] Sent: Friday, 18 February 2005 11:51 AM To: info@easterncreekridedays.com.au Subject: Eastern Creek Ride Days A lot has been happening in the Ride Day industry of late and in-particular there has been much discussion about the operation of Eastern Creek Ride Days now and into the future. Unfortunately much of the information that has been going around is grossly inaccurate, whether innocently begun and altered along the way creating the 'Chinese whisper' effect, or intentionally started by other operators to dissuade riders from attending future Eastern Creek Ride Days, either way it has caused a great deal of confusion amongst regular Eastern Creek Ride Day attendees. To overcome this trend of both deliberate and innocent misinformation, we have released a "Notice to Eastern Creek Ride Day Participants" in both Two Wheels (issue released 17th Feb.) and AMCN (issue released 23rd Feb.) which outlines what has happened to date, along with some information regarding future standards for Eastern Creek Ride Days. As well as this notice, we have created a new website which is very informative and should have pretty much everything you need to decide whether or not you would like to attend the new look Eastern Creek Ride Days. The website address is www.easterncreekridedays.com.au . Bookings can be taken on-line or for further information (or to book via phone), call 1300 793 423. Until then...
