Can anyone please let me know wat is expected life of a dunlop D208 ZR(the stock dunlops)? considering theres been no burnouts, wheelies or skids. Cause mine r ***t after 9000kms :( There is even thread from the radials showing through :( Is it likely that toombul yamaha put second hand tyres on my bike? Or is it a faulty tyre? Cause u should get more than 9,000 kms right? :( :( On the other hand i had an awesome ride up mt tambourine and O'reiley's today :) my first knee scrape ever! :D (yes im a nuub) I got from brisbane up and down mt tamborine in an hour :) I was flying, and had a lil tank slapper on the way up. And am gettin my steering damper tomorrow :fact

9k is good mileage out of any tyre on a powerful bike. Wait until you put on supersport rubber and if ya get 4k out of them ya doing well:)

My front tyre isnt very worn. Is it safe to put a new rear D208 ZR on the back, and keep the same front? Or does this cause stability issues? so either new dunlop n keep the same front. or cough up all for a new set. Any advice?

i usually get two rears out of one front....so if it looks like you can get a few more k's outta the front then do it.....but that being said why dont you bite the bullet and ditch the Dunflops and get a decent tyre like the ones mentioned by Martinc:yesnod My 0.2 cents:D

Yeah i ditched the dunlops. The front was pretty screwed too. I got a new set of diablos. And a hyperpro steering damper. I wanted a scotts or ohlins but couldnt afford. So had to be hyperpro. Thanx for ur advice guys.

Bike feels totally different now. Feels much more stable, and a lot firmer.

Cost me $1100 for the set of tyres fitted and the damper fitted. So not too bad. But still burns a hole in the pocket :(

when you go for a hard ride, make sure you got the right air pressure in it, because if it is slightly low, that will chew the tyre up quickly, specially high speed stuff.. i only got 8000 out of front and rear d208 (stock tyres)

Yeah you also get more wear out of tyres at higher pressure(too a point) because they dont deform as much. Lower pressure cause more deformation, more friction, more heat, more stick, which is good. But less stability and much less life which is bad.

I"ve got perilli super corsa"s on mine and can only get 5000k"s out of the rear . im getting a diablo next month just to get a bit extra out hopefully . Do you guys run a 190 or 180 rear i use the 180 ???

i used the 190, and had Super-Corsa's usually got 4-5k

I go with the grip every time as a tyre is cheaper than repairing youre bike.:thumbup

Or u could commute on higher pressure, then lower the pressure when u want to ride some twisties ;)

I got 13,000 kms out of my rear D208ZR. That was with carrying a 100lb passenger for most of that time. I ran 42psi in the rear with no traction problems. But I'm not ham-fisted or trying to be racer-boy on the street either. I like to ride the "Pace" on the street, for the most part anyways.

13 000 kms  how???

I had 11,000 kms from a D208ZR when I ran 36psi, without a passenger. So I guess the extra pressure helps the mileage. I do like to get some good lean angle in the corners, but I don't accelerate hard coming out. Like I said, ride the Pace. Oh, no traction problems at all...

Ride the pace means never full whip right??? :lol

Yeah it sounds that way. I think im goin to get me a tyre pressure guage and keep it under my seat. So i can set the pressure for twisties then pump em back up at a servo afterwards :)

Sounds like a good idea. :yesnod. i may even do that myself. :fact
